  • not giving avatar every single oscar there is was the biggest joke ever

  • Real Steel review?

  • i had the privilege to see this movie in imax in pittsburgh. Never will i see a movie the same way again.

  • The planet's called Prometheus, the moon Pandora and the raw resources, the material, that earth is after is called unobtainium.

I saw Avatar once and I still remember all of this. Get with the program, people.

  • this is funny as hell

  • Comment removed

  • I would rate it 4.5 at most. Terrible.

  • hacks :( i cant skip this add :( with f5

  • this movie was so unoriginal i cried

  • Im a liberal foreigner, and this was my favorite movie ever. Cenk was right!

  • Michelle Rodriguez was AWESOME in Avatar.

  • They are so right. If Avatar had a complex plot and twists it would have become confusing, and let's not forget that the stars of this movie aren't the humans; it's the Na'vi and their home, Pandora.

  • Hasn't it occurred to anyone that maybe it was based on the Persian Gulf or Kuwait? It just happens to neatly fit in with what's going on today because the U.S. went back into Iraq.

  • The thing that bother me about the technology was that they are able to travel to other planets, put people in hibernation, and create avatars. However, they use machine guns. Really? We couldn't come up with more advanced weapons?

  • These guys are stupid and are just mocking the best film every made, they have they're times, but they're retards, ive watched this 4 times since it came out on Blu-ray (26/04/10) and it just gets more epic, went to see it in the cinema too, and i was speechless when it finished. How can these guys call themselfs reviewers, they're just retards that done know shit, and obviouslly dont know the real message of the film, Protect Our Planet before we ourselfs destroy it.

  • @1123joey Anyone who knows movies will know Avatar doesnt come close to being greatest film ever made, it was good, but the best film ever made? No way.

And they never said it was bad, they gave it an 8.4 out of 10, which i would with agree with, and rotten tomatoes also agrees with.

  • @1123joey oh please if you think this is the best movie ever you really need to watch movies cause there are plenty more that are WAY better than this piece of crap

  • I like The Young Turks but come on guys, why does EVERY SINGLE THING need to reflect what's going on now? The movie's themes are far more general and are about these sort of things going on throughout history.

Besides the treatment was made way before the Iraq War

  • I like The Young Turks but come on guys, why does EVERY SING THING need to reflect what's going on now? The movie's themes are far more general and are about these sort of things going on throughout history.

Besides the treatment was made way before the Iraq War started.

  • Wasn't this movie scripted and stuff before the war?

  • Michelle Rodriguez has great tits!

  • ATTENTION! the f!lm was leaked @ freemoviehq . o r g

  • Avatar is pure eyecandy. You want a good plot read a book. It made 2.5 bill $ eat that !

  • Strictly should not be. It's a copied movie, really.

  • it was good but the story was weak

  • Because it was copied like 3 times already.

  • please DONT make a sequel. i hate when they ruin shit that was already really good (pirates of the caribbean).

also... they didn't even talk about the originality and articulation of the planet itself. im no huge SiFi buff but it seemed pretty original to me, especially the concept of Eywa, which i thought was conveyed quite well, and served an interesting role in the structure of the blue folk as something concrete, which you dont get in dances with wolves.

  • @billytinkler

Well, this is James Cameron. If he decides to make a sequel, it could be like Aliens or Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

    Cameron can deliver.

  • @TheBoomViper and even more so terminator 2 broke the record for most successful movie in relation to the series's original film at four times more popular than the original. if cameron pulls off HALF that with the second avatar... o my God...

  • @billytinkler

Hey the second pirates of the carribean movie was pretty good :/. The third was more convoluted and kinda meh.

  • i saw it in 2d and its still amazing. wish i could have seen it in 3d, but im living in a 3rd world country right now and didnt feel like driving all the fucking way to Buenos Aires.

  • Better win Best Film at the ceremony, because I'm sick of this genre being set aside in a prejudice section. AVATAR and District 9 deserve a shot at this. I'll be happy if either wins. If they don't, screw the awards. It's prejudice all over again, people.

  • i normally dont liek 3d movies cuz the technology just isnt there yet imo but i had no choice but to c it in 2d anyway cuz my theatre doesnt show 3d movies. so even seeing it in 2d, i wud rate it AT LEAST a 9.5. avatar was as perfect as a movie can get really. it totally blew me away cuz i xpected it to b crap 4 sum reason

  • The twist was that the movie makes you want the humans to lose, and the humanoids to win, thats kind of rare.

    I i would love a sequel :D .

  • It's the look and the 3-d the apart from that it was shit.

  • Avatar is my fav movie. its a 3 hour long orgasm.

  • @Kalahridudex same, and im a liberal foreigner! :)

  • @Kalahridudex You Are A Child....Avator Is Kinda Like Transforners 2...It's Visuallly INCREDIBLE But The Dialog Is Like It's Made For A Middle-Schooler If That LOL

  • Ummm the script was written a long time before The Iraq War.

  • lmao if that is true i feel very silly.. it seemed like such a perfect parallel to the Iraq war.

  • @Pacmaniacone exactly, and way before racism was at an all time high the last couple of years. i wish smart open minded people could live on a different world than idiot close minded people.

  • @Pacmaniacone Yeah it was written in 1990 and had the original title,"Dances With Wolves."

  • @TheGrerex

I find it hilarious that people harp on the film for being unoriginal and then constantly recycle this same, stupid, hyperbolic, redundant phrase that's been repeated ad nausem for the past 3 fucking years and I couldn't possibly be more fucking sick of seeing idiots say it who probably haven't even seen the fucking film.

Criticize the movie by all fucking means, but can you please try putting a little goddamn effort into it instead of just repeating what other people say?

  • @kingboobs20 Why do I need to be original about my criticism? The movie has the exact same plot as Dances With Wolves. And why are you watching a 3 year old review of a 3 year old movie? You are either a troll or someone completely obsessed with hating this movies detractors.

  • @Pacmaniacone script was written in the late 90's first iraq war happened in 94 :/ and it was about oil too.

  • I liked the first 14 hours but the last seven dragged.

  • I fucking LOVED this movie

  • i agree with some comments on here.. Mr. Cameron wrote this in 1995 (before Titanic) so it's very obvious that this movie has absolutely nothing to do with iraq.. these dudes put a lot of politics into it but that being sad.. at least they gave it a good score..

  • James Cameron did confirm that this movie was about Iraq, Vietnam etc.

Loved the movie, loved the message!

  • Wow, I can't believe Cenk's insignificant sidekick actually called Avatar's plot "tricky". What a moron.

  • The plot is like "dancing with wolf" but the beauty of the movie get you so much more into it...

  • You do realize the caracters are not completely CG or watever

  • OMG I'm sorry but you guys are all retards it has nothing to do with iraq he freaking made the script ten ficking years ago and i see how you can say its racist but it wasnt meant to be they are making a second one and this was probably just like a prologue i mean think about it. it wouldn't make any since if say jake sully is already a navi at the beginning of the movie they had to make a way to explain how he became a navi!

  • @Haevenwyn this kind of stuff has been happening for years, they ust modernized t for convenience

  • My opinion on the move, first of it is Dances With Wolves in space. That said, I absolutely love Dances With Wolves, and it's one of my favorite movies of all time, and I thought it was still very well done.

My two biggest complaints are (1) as they said, the plot is at times, heavy handed. Very little of the movie was me wondering what was gonna happen next. (2) The ending was a little happily ever after-ish.

With that being said, this is still an absolutely stellar movie.

  • Well the film is blatantly racist. Is all you have to do is think about it.

  • Interesesting review. Id give it a 9, i rally enjoyed it in both 3d and 2d.

  • This movie did not cost 400 million dollars it cost 237 million dollars, thats still alot of money but well spent.

  • Idk what your thinking, making the movie and marketing it cost: 559 million.

  • @dennieserasmoC: Stop promoting copyright theft.

  • a Visual masterpiece with a story that seems a mash up of James Cameron's own Aliens along with Native American films like Last of the Mohicans, and a War in Afghanistan allegory.

  • wow, i like tyt but that's a horrible review. even a 10 year old could explain it better

  • its not moon stupid fags people on this video think they are the shit and they have right to say shit

  • @ListenSilently

    listen silently... fuck you

  • Hey blackwater is soooo bad right? Yeah if it wasn't for them and the rest of the US military your shitty show wouldnt be on Youtube. And you talk about the US being so bad to take over the Indians land. Hey your fatass wouldnt be alive and you wouldnt be around to tell everyone what to do and think

  • So, Irak would have destroyed the USA by now? What is your point, the irak war was totally pointless for the democrazy of the USA.

  • the interviewer is an ass and does not know a good movie. He is such a sorry ass critic to beat on such a good story. The acting is great and these guys must be smoking crack

  • i loved AVATAR it should be called dances with smerfs

  • @7thgradeviolin

You should learn to spell before you make stupid south park references

  • listen silently bitch! no one uses proper spelling on youtube. where did i spell wrong anyway?

  • It is spelled "Smurfs" not smerfs

Only idiots don't use proper spelling on youtube

  • Wikipedia sayes 2 sequels are planned

  • Didn't love it. Story was so old! Couldn't they find a different story. Animation was great though.

  • anyone else spot all the CGI nipple action going on?

  • Sidenote---> you guys failed to see the deeper meaning of the message. The story was NOT weak. There was a blatant spiritual side to the story and hopefully more people realize this and not focus solely on the "military/American globalization" aspect. (And I'm not talking about religion, I'm talking about spiritual connectivity)

  • DO NOT WATCH this amazing movie ONLINE!!!! I just saw it last night in Digital 3D and if you watch it in any other format you are not watching it in it's best quality. Cameron did not disappoint with Avatar. I could give a frell if the plot line was 'cliche', how the message was told was beautiful and truthful, imo. If you like love stories, action or sci-fi then you will love Avatar. If you've loved any of James Cameron's movies, you will definitely not be disappointed in this one! ^_^

  • saw it in 3d with 3d goggles on cinema - fantastic, can't wait for more 3d movies to be made.

  • I didn't want to buy into the hype but this movie was seriously great. Not so much the plot but the delivery, awesome effects and I hate cg-i like Ben but I was hardly able to tell that it was all cg-i. Politically I loved it too, I agreed with it's criticism of greedy corporations/Iraq War and it honestly made you sympathize for these creatures being massacred by humans. Even though no one probably cares I give it a 9/10 due to a recycled Dances with Wolves/Pocahontas plot and some nitpicks.

  • I agree that the story may have been simple, but in my opinion, it's not really so much unoriginal as it is archetypal, and like you guys said in here, it's simplicity works for the movie. It worked in not making me think too much about it and really just let me focus more on what was going on on-screen and on the performances, which of course, were fantastic. I can easily say this has been the most entertaining movie I've seen this year.

  • For christ sake stop advertising for movie goblin!

  • You can watch Avatar at MoviegobliN! YAY :3! Jking :P

  • retarded fucking americans

  • Avatar is a visual knock-off of video games like world of warcraft and Halo. Storyline wise we all know it is a reimagining of the US dealings with native Americans. A warrior culture that sucks at war versus the more technologically advanced western world that doesn't suck at war.

  • Lmao at these fake movie geeks....Is the dude in the glasses a real movie critic?

Thats the type of dude you would hate to watch a movie with cause he's critiquing everything like he can make a better film.

He's like the fat guy with a beer at a professionals sports game yelling at the players and the coach...like he can do the job better...

  • Sometimes you need a cynic to review a movie to ensure that everything is not rainbows and puppies.

  • tyt first understand wtf u r talkin about, only one word for u tyt-- shut the f.... up.

  • @lewis1727 That's four words.

  • I hated Avatar the aliens look lame like tall blue cat people. The animals on the planet looked like modified version of the animals on earth. The story line and characters was so bland you knew that the good guys was going to win at the end. I have seen better battle and action sequences in Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. The special effects was impressive but all action movies have cool CG now days.

  • you guys shouldnt do movie reviews. stick to what ur good @ tyt and thats news n politics. keep the reviews to the ppl who do it for a living.

  • this movie was basically pocahontas + james cameron = awesome

  • you are sooo right

  • Dances with SMURFS Cenk!

    Get it right. Sheesh. :P

(How many people have said this I woner...)

  • Comment removed

  • What's wrong with it? People need to be hammered over head with the Iraq/Afghanistan situation - We went to war based on lies & have done murder.

Avatar was great - Watch in 3D!

  • why doesn't the human machine have a lag? i mean now the jake guy should be definitely more connected. that how they should do the next ones. and with more native navi rituals and insight.

i really liked it, especially the wet noses.

cameron is a great storyteller and director.

im not sure about his premise...

  • ok... I agree... foreigners love the movie.

I am american living in europe and last friday I saw the movie and was like "When is it going to end?" thinking in my head, because YES, it is dancing with the wolves. Second, people love it, one guy in my class litteraly said "This movie is real great, finally Americans start to realize they will fail with their freakin war frantics."

Blame Bush! The movie is great if you consider the cineastic aspects, but the storyline sucks!!! REally!!! It's lame

  • Cool flick. It does pound you over the head with the message, and the characters, save for the two leads, are pretty wooden. A character will die, and I know they want me to feel something for him, but I just don't. There's nothing terribly original here, but it is a great 'blockbuster' type movie. Almost three hours long, but it didn't feel like it. Nice pacing, and incredible effects(see it in IMAX!!). Lots of fun. A solid 8.

  • Watched it in 3D today. IT IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!

  • The only issues I had with the film is that in the tree scene arrows harmlessly bounce off the choppers, whereas in the following fight they do damage. The Pandoran horses were too identical to our horses. And I now lust over tall blue chicks. That said I still enjoyed it immensely

  • When I first saw that I was like..hm.

But then if you've noticed the birds always dove and they shot their arrows as they were going really fast towards the gunships.

Not only that but I don't think they ever shot at the gunships, just that big ship and after that big battle, no arrows penetrated that big ship so, I'd have to watch it again which I will in iMax because it's a good movie, I just saw it in 3d btw. Oh btw, it's a GOOD movie, nothing amazing, the visuals however were great.

  • I'm not sure if these guys saw the movie. You couldn't even remember Pandora? You really couldnt get over your lame Iraq interpretation? Did you see occupation? Guy in glasses so off the mark. Sure most of it was predictable, but that didn't rob the film of enjoyment. Fail review

  • Just finished seeing it in 3D.......EPIC MOVIE PERIOD....

  • i cant get over that it looks to much like a video game to watch properly

  • Its just wat America is doing all over the world.

    but

    Awsome movie.

  • i take this movie as more about what white europeans/americans have done throughout history rather then about what the US is doing in Iraq. this is why i dont go to TYT for movie reviews

  • I saw this movie and thought it was AWESOME.

  • I wish I had Imax @ my Town. But 3D was Fucktastically Delicious! lol

  • Um, the movie budget (without advertising) was 237mil. With the advertisement it's 387mil, but, the budget for the movie itself was less then Pirates 3 or Spider-Man 3. <.< So people who are saying the production costs were 400mil-600mil.. No. x3

  • AVATAR in IMAX 3D = BEST MOVIE EVER!

  • I'm not saying the guys are wrong but I doubt they can see further than their hands can reach.

  • I have no interest in this film.

  • seems like every online video, whether it be about the weather or cars, always turns into a retarded political discussion. stfukkthxbye! movie was astounding, watched it friday on imax 3d, still thinking about it..i tend to criticize a movie after ive watched it no matter how fantastic it was while watching, avatar is no different. but the movie felt so real and was packed with emotion.. it impacted me in a way i can't describe.

  • no way i give it a solid 9. maybe even 9.5 had i not go crappy seats in the front row.

  • This movie really sucks ass and balls at the same time.

  • Comment removed

  • i tink if the movie ended after the big tree was destroyed the movie might have been better. plus how the hell would arrows and like footmen defeat the invaders

  • after the big tree was destroyed? that would be a horrible ending, unless there was definitely going to be a sequel.

but even then it wouldn't make much sense. endings where the bad guys kind of win usually only happen in the second movie of a trilogy.

  • Have you been paying attention to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

  • I loved that fucking movie!

  • I know that lots of people think he's annoying, but I always feel the guy with glasses on these movies. I think he's hilarious.

"I am not ever impressed by 3d... My apathy toward it is indescribable."

    lol

  • Uh I didn't find the plot related to the Iraq War.

This movie had the most striking resemblance to the removal of Indians and the trail of tears.

  • I LOVED it.

  • I Lol at the preemptive strike and the terrorist line.

  • I died when he said 400 million dollars.

  • Critical thinkers simply wouldn't enjoy 99.9% of any movie. It's best to suspend your critical thinking/political/scientific knowledge, when heading to the cinema. That's the only way to enjoy it. Movies are obviously targeted at the mass, so I don't moan about it. If you've nothing better to do, go watch a movie!

  • for me i cant grasp the unrealistic 3d and iffy physics its just plastic to me so dont have the concentration span for these type of things but its diffrent and explores new concepts, the young ones will love it i guess , techno addicts and polygon lovers will also appreciate it but for myself it just goes right over my head but i get more atmosphere from fiction rather then fantasy is prob why

  • The guy in the glasses did a really good review IMO, don't know why every one hates him?

  • Whoever that idiot is with the glasses if a dumb fuck who should fucken watch the damn movie first because embarrassing himself. Idiot.

  • Shawn Michael's got fat and has a goatee.

  • I thought they presented indigenous people as saintlike and perfect. The evil people were also too evil. Everything was heavy handed.

  • Avatar was okay but it had plot holes you could drive a bus through.

  • 7.5?? FUCK YOU, JUST GIVE IT 7 or a 8

  • The horses look too much like horses.

    - Cenk Uygur

  • Cenk, you should bring Ben back for some political commentary as well just to get a discussion going. Two libs are better than one.

  • I knew they would go with Halliburton!

  • ... and Blackwater!

  • saw it yesterday, its a sci fi pokahonstus

  • Funny that rotten tomatoes gave this a 8.3 as well (83%)

  • dot com

  • @Sum182AvA Server not found?

  • Sir spider man has been killed search that on youtube.. period

  • Go to hell, spammer. At least set your site up before you start spamming.

  • girl or boy?

  • That first guy doesn't know what he talking about comparing it to the Iraq War. I know they have similarities but AVATAR is beyond this. It's epic! The guy needs to shut up.

  • Debbie Schlussel reviewed Avatar, and called it long, boring, unoriginal cinema for the hate-America crowd. Since Ms. Schwang Wang Wang hated it that much, I'm gonna go see it.

  • I dont think they know that the script was actually written in 1994 before the 2002 iraq.

  • dot com

  • young turks at their finest !!!---forget the new world order and forget that we are about to face no food, riots, martial law and dictatorship----lets talk about some dumb fcking movie !!!! YHEA GUY !!!

  • Talk about idiocy. Let's say we allow the international anarchy to continue as it has, with large nations easily piling debt on the smaller, less powerful nations. You're only going to have a worse food problem. Let's be honest, GM's the only way forward, together with a heavy emphasis worldwide on primary and secondary education and child welfare. We can learn from our mistakes, but you can't just blanket-ban the only avenue of experimentation on this issue open to us. We need strong int'l reg

  • you don't know anything about politics----you are a good little sheep

  • ad hominem

  • Actually, this movie is based on a PC game from the 1990's. I remember playing it around 1997-98. Then there was some weird thing with druids added.

  • Avatar was the best film experience I have ever had. Watch it in IMAX 3D!

  • this is the worst review ive ever seen. wow.

  • why? I thought it was good, watch Spill . com's review. They said the same thing, good movie but weak plot

  • theyre unfocused and its really distracting.

  • The plot was pretty strong actually to make it such a good movie. It's pretty epic

  • Sigh, what's wrong with those 3? Do they know how to do a review? Sure, the story obviously is a blatant allegory but geez... do they have to FAKE LAUGH about every single details? Do viewers have to spend 4 mins just to get past the idiotic introduction and summary? Really?

learn to do a movie review more respectfully and professionally next time?

  • that movie was... AWESOME. you have to see it in imax 3d. theres no other way to watch it lol it was the best movie i seen in a long time. i give it 9.5/10 .5 off since some parts were just like, 'oh come on!'

  • Avatar was fucking awesome. Visually, the best film ever made. And the metaphors were dead on. Who was the loser to the left? A fucking 7.5? Are you kidding me?

  • Pirates of the Carribean 3 had a 300 million dollar budget, that was the most expensive movie before Avatar came along with it's 400 million dollar budget, that's insane. That's twice the buget James Cameron had with Titanic that costed 200 million dollars.

  • Avatar was best movie ever.
