To me, a RA is more of a Budget MR (which starts at 51k in Canada... brutal). What the Ralliart has over the MR is about 150 lbs less weight, and no 1st gear throttle limitation which is why a tuned RA is pulling better than stock MR track numbers. Food for thought!
Everyone thinking of buying one this year should wait until the 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart........there are minor upgrades to the engine with addition of GSR BBS wheels and tires, wider fenders.........etc.
This car is awesome!! Its a good car for everyday use and for all year round..its great in the snow too! The turbo lag is good too when it picks up its out..don't sleep...
@Rockit181 2011 they're upping the hp and torque by 5 hp and 5 ft. lbs. of torque. They're also offering it with a 5 speed manual. I'm not sure if it'll be on par with the GSR's though.

Also, when he said that there isn't much to distinguish except for the gear shift... what about the steering wheel. It's VERY different from the standard Lancer steering wheel.

I for one don't like the idea that this ralliart does not come manual. I own a 2005 ralliart and it just feels better with a manual transmition (sp?) that with an automatic one. A frind of mine has a 2005 ralliart too but automatic and i drove it once and didn't really like it. I'm sticking with manual as long as I can.
Whether you change your mind or not is of no concern, this is NOT an automatic, it has NO torque converter and has 2 clutches controlled by a computer, and yes, I have one, I can speak on this.

Sure, the 09 is a toned down version of the Evo when 08 and below are more like souped up versions of the standard Lancer, but I bet you that if the 08 and below had similar toned down upgrades from the evo like a turbocharger, it would be a match for an 09, just like the Evo IX is a match for an Evo X. IN fact an Evo IX is slightly faster than X is. And if you don't believe me, look for it here on youtube.

From what I understand, the Evo X is the EXACT same "Frame" as the other Lancers, but thats as far as it goes, the reason it has a wider wheel base is because of the Front and Rear Fenders, they are completely different then the other models, the Evo X that is.
@jaftem um, I have the EVO X-GSR & it doesnt look nothing like a ralliart or a regular lancer.. But thats because of the added (options) Full Factory Aero Bodykit & Large Rear Wing Spoiler... Look at my video Youll hear the turbo & some of my pics.
The 2009 Lancer Ralliart has the EXACT same 4B11 engine thats in the Evo X, except it has a smaller Single Scroll turbo (The Evo X has a Twin Scroll) and the Intercooler in the Ralliart is 54% smaller then the Evo X's, and yes, I have an 09 Ralliart.
The evo does not have twin turbo...this guy sucks!

That's good news for tuners. The TC-SST is limited in how much power/torque it can hold. Plus 5 spd is more fun to drive

The difference in Wheel Base isn't that much, the Evo X has a Wheel Base of 104.3", the 09 Ralliart is 103".

Yes, the Ralliart comes with AWD standard.
It has a great AWD system too: Not as advanced as the EVO X, but it has the AWD system from the EVO 9.
