Electric cars is the way to go. The technology may not be perfect but it can be perfected with enough focus and effort. Having alternative fuel based on any natural resource or crop is still begging for trouble.
Wait, so how do the cars get that electricity? It has to be produced by a coal plant, so in reality you are shifting those emissions to another spot and not solving the problem. This of course would be okay if we did Carbon Sequestration. But energy is energy, it all has waste.
Mr. Romney is wrong about oil prices being set in a global basis. Oil price depends on a cartel's interest and political humor. Once you've introduced a new variable as renewable fuel, wich price is outside the reach of this cartel, you would become able to create a mechanism for controlling the fuel prices according to the international market.
not happy with his response to carbon caps, much better than some republicans, but far from the leadership, beyond mild rhetoric that I am looking for
Romney has fabulous leadership skills, and is the most qualified of all the candidates. After weighing all the issues, including the complexities this country faces, he is hands down the best man for the job. People will increasingly realize this the more they get to know him, I'm convinced!
I should disclose that aside from Lugar, I am about as far away from Republicans as I can get right now, but I was commenting on Romney's response to carbon caps without the intent to bash republicans with this comment.
As governor of MA, he was part of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, which proposed limits to such emissions. Then, in 2006, he decided to pull out of such concerns over the environment, much to the shock of his own office even.
Regardless of personal feelings, this is one example of the shameless pandering Romney performs and just one of many flip-flops. He's a disgrace.
Hmmm... i disagree with his assessment of green house gases, however, we do need to work on our foreign oil dependence, its completely outrageous. Mitt 08 baby!
Romney's right on this issue as well. He certainly seems to have his head on straight regarding most issues and he definitely knows what he's talking about. Romney in '08!
Global Warming is a fraud you dumb shit.

Global Warming is the biggest lie ever perpetrated on the public, outside of Social Security.

Youtube: "Mitt Romney talks about renewable energy and energy plan"
He's suggesting we liquify coal to provide alternative oil.
Which is orders of magnitude worse for global warming than using normal oil.

Ah well, can't blame him too much. Obama's taking a similar route.
It effectively lying, but then again handing out lots of 'pork' plays well in elections.

The real answer is BioCoal, GeoThermal, Massive Pumped Hydro Storage, and Electric Cars.
No Coal, and No Oil.

Lol, talk about a political nonanswer when he's asked about carbon credits or taxes.
All he's saying is that we should subsidize green technologies, BUT not provide any sort of funding mechanism for it.
In short, "Magic money" that comes out of defecit spending.
Sure in the long run it costs way more than just paying the money in the first place.
But thats after he's out of office.

The real gap between "energy independance" and global warming is if we use more Coal to do it.
