I used to have a mama rat and a mama cat who had pups and kits on the same day, and in the same nest. I'd be damned if they did not share kids, with baby rats following a cat and little rats nurseing on a cat. Seeing this reminds me of them.
The entie rat population shuld be wiped out asap these things scare the life out of me as do mice in fact i have a really bad phobia about these horrible thigs i see them running round my town all the time they are just so horrible and teryifying. I cant think of anything worse than ever having a rat or mouse in my house i would leave that house and never ever go back inside. These are horrible creatures why cant we as the human race wipe out all mice and rats A.S.A.P
@DAJAZDJ1 you do realize that some people find great joy in having them for pets. They're not like the dirty rats on the street either. They're very bright, affectionate, and loving. They bond easily. But if you don't like 'em you don't like 'em. If we did wipe them off the face of the earth who would eat all the scraps?

@cancerlighter In fact, rats are very clan animals. You can even litter train them (my 6 rats are all litter trained). Their is nothing disgusting about a rat, in fact they are cleaner then cats and dogs and carry less diseases then them.
@cancerlighter 1. thats a domestic rat, they are not dirty animals, i have three very clean boys 2. by the looks of it her apartment isn't dirty enough to have wild rats (now, wild rats are disgusting, but domesticated rats like ths aren't)

@KnittingPasta Actually, i'v had a lot of "house rats" as i call them. They tend to find favorite "out of the way" spots (usually under the couch) where they pee and poop and it's very easy to clean those spots once in a while. They do enjoy chewing on chords (especially when they are young) but those just need to be taped down or put out of the way. And it motivates one to keep the house clean like nothing else! And they'v always gotten along with my cats wonderfully.

1 of my 6 Rats Reached a Very Old Age, He Got to 5 or 6 something years old,
reason why he got old was, i would feed him by my Finger and take to his Bog or Toilet
his Back legs started to kick out, so he could only Drag him self somewere.
3 Rats were kangaroo rats, they all got one fine with each other with the hooded rats.
first hooded & first kangaroo rat got on fine.

I would be afraid to let a rat run loose in the house ALL the time. They could chew on things they shouldn't and poop and pee everywhere

@idmonstre I read somewhere that rats always choose favourite spots to do their business, and it helps with training.
If you relocate their poo to where you want them to leave it, that's where they'll always do it.
This made me miss mine... I should get more :)
