@songoku350 True but another reason that wrestling is not as good as it used to be is because the storylines are going way too fast. Back then there was time to really build up the character and the storylines mainly because there were more jobbers to make the heels and faces look good. Now I see every week almost the same fueds time after time namely Rey Misterio and Alberto del Rio on Smackdown and Cena vs the Nexus. It gets old.

Basically all of his success was because Vince favored him and so did the McMahon women. I hate to say it but he along with the undertaker are the biggest butt kissers in the industry next to HHH. My favorite of all time was Hogan. My second favorite was Bret Hart. I still watch it in hopes that it gets better.
@jfearless1 Michaels took wrestling to a new level, he established so many high performance stunts that are now industry standard. He was favored not because he kissed anyone's ass, but because he went above and beyond what was expected of him, and did a lot to keep wrestling alive today. Even if he never held a title belt, he'd still be revered for the huge impact he had on wrestling performances. I'd say he was very significant. Though I agree HHH plays that "son-in-law" card like a mofo.

The only stunt I can think of that he did that no other superstar has done was coming down that wire to face Bret Hart in that iron man match. Everything else had already been done before. The elbow drop from the top rope he took from Macho Man. The flying forearm he took from Tito Santana. His patented "sweet chin music" had been done by Chris Adams. I can't really think of anything he has done that hasn't been done b4.

What Jake Roberts did after Savage wining the match made him the main heel/badguy in the wwe, what i remeber most about this match was the sick promo he gave after the match.

I think people were cheering. We live in different times now where it is acceptable to take an old woman for example and power bomb her through a table the way the Dudley Boyz did to Mae Young. Back then people had more sense.

It is much harder to be a heel nowadays because people do not have a sense of what is acceptable behavior. Stone Cold and the Rock are among two of the most popular wrestlers of all time, They sold out arenas. Neither of them would have been cheered during these days. They would have been banned. Our standards have gone way down so what possibly could someone due to offend a society that has no morals?

@couchfort Yeah, he is almost as popular as Cena now. We will see how long it takes before they start to hate him. Personally I didn't think Michaels was that significant. Basically all of his success was because Vince favored him and so did the McMahon women. I hate to say it but he along with the undertaker are the biggest butt kissers in the industry next to HHH. My favorite of all time was Hogan. My second favorite was Bret Hart. I still watch it in hopes that it gets better.

@jfearless1 Michaels took wrestling to a new level, he established so many high performance stunts that are now industry standard. He was favored not because he kissed anyone's ass, but because he went above and beyond what was expected of him, and did a lot to keep wrestling alive today. Even if he never held a title belt, he'd still be revered for the huge impact he had on wrestling performances. I'd say he was very significant. Though I agree HHH plays that "son-in-law" card like a mofo.

The only stunt I can think of that he did that no other superstar has done was coming down that wire to face Bret Hart in that iron man match. Everything else had already been done before. The elbow drop from the top rope he took from Macho Man. The flying forearm he took from Tito Santana. His patented "sweet chin music" had been done by Chris Adams. I can't really think of anything he has done that hasn't been done b4.

@TheVictory516 I will agree with you on that but my point was that to me he never made a huge impact. He wasn't like Hulk Hogan or Ric Flair. He was definitely more athletic and could wrestle better but that doesn't say much. Kaval was more athletic than all three of those guys but now he is out of work. Maybe TNA? Right now I think the new Shawn Michaels is John Morrison. He just needs to come down to the ring with a song that says he is sexy.

@jfearless1 He made a different kind of impact. Like Bret Hart kinda. Because he came out of a tag team and rose to fame on his own. Every year he did something more until he had finally done it all. Plus he has had the best matches of Wrestlemania for the past 4 or 5 years. And then some before that. And yea Kaval is out of work but he actually requested his release. The fans of WWE don't understand his style enough for them to like him. John morrison is greatness.

He's kicking defenseless people in the skull and the fans are, for some reason, supposed to cheer for him. On a side note, I stopped watching wrestling when they made that midget Mr.McMahon's illegitimate son, and I've been keeping up to date with Botchamania and Wrestle! Wrestle! . Apparently, they're doing even stupider things with him now. I cannot stand him!

@couchfort Also, I disagree that he should have DDT her. It is not like today where you hear fans chanting for men to do some type of finishing move on women. To hit a woman during that time was seen as heinous. Now people think it is cool or funny. Jake would have gotten death threats and Vince would have had to apologize like he did with the Austin/Pillman gun incident. Slapping her at the time was already going too far. Trust me. Women were respected more those days.

A heel is good when you want to throttle him for what he does. On this occasion, all the fans wanted to kill Jake for slapping poor, defenseless Elizabeth. When you push boundaries too far, this stuff doesn't shock. But the WWE decided none of its "divas" should have the same class, beauty and charm as Liz and so if one was slapped today it wouldn't be seen as so heinous.

This was my favourite rivalry at this time Jake Roberts & Randy Savage. This was Randy Savage's first matc back for more than year. What Jake Roberts did after Savage wining the match made him the main heel/badguy in the wwe, what i remeber most about this match was the sick promo he gave after the match.

It saddens me to think how great the old school wrestling was. The littlest thing like Jake the Snake slapping Liz was the most horrible thing in the world, the line between good guy and bad guy was clear, and you could get behind your favorites and cheer or boo your heart out.
Then go to school and talk about it all week. The Monday Night Wars were great as well, but these old days had a magic of their own that will NEVER be duplicated.
