  • Yay for sponging! I'm TENDERHEADED and absolutely HATE all the hair pulling and tugging with the comb. Special Eftects proprietor, Fizel showed me his Nudred sponge and I DID see hairs in the sponge. But I dunno if they were mine or his. However, every morning for the last week I've been using a regular ol' kitchen o-cel-o sponge; absolutely NOT seen ONE hair in sponge. No pain and I love the way it coils my hair--sooo cute. I absolutely love SPONGING:)!!!!

  • I recently purchased the nudred and I think it is simply fantastic. I am extremely tenderheaded and have learned how to do my own hair in many different styles so I could avoid the pain as much as possible. I recently cut my hair and I have been searching for new styles... This has been the easiest style I have ever done... And After using it for 3 days I have only found 2 small hairs on the sponge. I have found hundreds in combs and brushes after one use. IJS, you should try it before you knock

  • @moestress :: no need. I don't doubt that it does what it says it does, I just can't see how all that friction is good for someone who plans on taking the coils out.

  • Honestly I had the same thoughts the first time I saw this technique, but the thought of a head full of coils in ten minutes is *sooo* tempting...I'm in love with this look but definitely don't want to spend hours comb/finger coiling or shingling, especially when I intend to cowash at least every other day...*sigh* back to the drawing board I suppose...

  • Your hair naturally comes out, thats apart of the life of your hair. Have you ever combed or brushed your hair and seen hair in the comb? most likely yes. I dont think its too big of an issue.

  • @TheTrueDiesel :: This is true, your hair naturally sheds but this is not what I was refering to in this video. I am very skeptical of anything rubbing against the hair strands because I understand that this sort of friction can cause breakage and fraying of the strands.

  • Just wanted to comment on the posts. One user said that the process of twisting with the nudred looked abrasive and painful...well while watching the videos, no one seemed to wince or gesture in pain so I am thinking there is no pain involved, plus they did not seem to press and even tell you not to press hard but just let the device glide on u hair. Also one person mentioned that it does not seem to be good on long hair and the dured website states that it is ideal for 1/8 - 1.5 inches

  • I immeadiatley thought that when i saw the nudred video regarding the rubbing/friction it really does'nt look too healthy. Massaging is one thing but that rubbing looked like torture. Doing this to your hair every day or throughout the day to maintain cannot be good for your rootbed. I would love to see somebody with locs started from this. They would more than likely end up combining cos the nudred twists look so thin.

  • @DollyMat Well....Sisterlocs are smaller than the twist that this Nudred system leaves on the scalp. Have you seen photos of Sisterlocks?

  • @Annazayla Yes i have seen Sisterlocks in real life and photos, lol. The difference with S/L is that they are usually started by a professional and based on a fine and neat grid pattern. The point of which is to ensure you have even size locs and ease of style. Most people's hair varies in texture over the head and this will usually determin the size of your twist as they grow Nudred may be good for someone who want thin freeform look. But not convinced with that action on the scalp

  • @DollyMat Cool...I understand.

  • Understand that the circular motion is a vortex which is very healthy for ethnic hair, and will spin it in its natural corse. Nudred is painless, and actually one of the healthiest way to twist. We find that most people press to hard, all you need is a light touch while twisting. , There is no pulling, pain or breakage. Nudred is actually very comfortable and has been used on babies as young as 3 months. Also remember hair naturally sheds, you cand find your hair on your pillow from sleeping.

  • @nudred1 :: good points, thanks for sharing.

  • Do you have a receipe for VI black cake

I remember you saying you are from the VI , which island are you from

My husband is from St. Thomas

  • @pumpingfine2009 nope, i'm not a black cake fan at all ... but i googled 'black cake recipe virgin islands' and found stuff so try that out. ~ ini

  • I'm curious. I hhave short hair and I would rather get the regular twists, but I wanted to try that. my hair grows extremely slow and I'm not patient at all, so I wanted to try that. I saw the video and I'm trying to find anyone who has tried this on their hair. Might just be a cool alternative until I get the real thing.

  • @Soulsgod ~ I personally know two people who use this on their hair and they love it. Their hair is short and they keep it that way so they are not concerned about health. I got an email from a representative of the company assuring me it will not damage the hair so take that for what it's worth. ~ ini

  • @glamazini Thank you

  • Have you ever dyed your hair ?

  • Not recently. Over a decade ago I'd done streaks (mistake) and pitch black. But nothing recently.

  • just saw the video on the nudred site. there is no way in gods green earth I would use that on my hair. looks abrasive and almost painful

  • I would buy this for my brother. I understand it's for short natural hair, and it can be damaging. But this seems like a convenient little gift for a gentlemen like my bro! =)

  • Sure. I don't knock it entirely 'cause it it quite amazing how quickly you can get the twistie look...and if you're always gonna have your hair short and don't care then I say go for it. But for me myself personally for me (hee hee) ... uh no.

  • Totally agree with you...I treat my hair like fine silk. Textured hair is just that. It's textured! It's hard enough detangling it... *Smiles*

  • Oh I just saw the demo... and there was some grease on his neckline...I wonder if mineral oil was in the potion? Put anyway, depending on your texture, well my hair, it will twist and retreat back to its natural texture anyway. I where my hair in this huge buns and when it reverts and I just rock it out live :-) know what I'm saying....I used to have a profile pic up when my hair was in its reverted state. I'll switch it up sometime so you and others can see. I loooove textured hair!!!

  • watched the demos and i think it would be awesome for a guy or gal with shorter hair......i like the look but would be afraid to do that too much on my growing natural hair

  • I agree with you. I think this product is great for starter locks, but I am not convenienced that it is a healthy alternative for twists for medium length or longer hair. With that said, I have not researched the product, but visual inspection leads me to believe it is strictly for shorter length hair.

  • Thanks for your view and it makes sense.
