i don't think Freddy's face and burns look as good in this one - i havnen't seen it, just clips, and i'm too scared to anyway lol - is it really as bad as people say it is, or is it almost as good as the original? (because i don't think anyone can actually top Robert's Freddy)

The Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 is not good at all. The guy that plays Freddy is a joke. He does no justice to the part that was immortalized by Robert Englund. The story of the 2010 Nightmare is pitiful. It would have been much better if they had followed the script of the original. I don’t know what else to say except the new version sucks from beginning to end.

@26magicman26 Well in the original they were going to make him a pedophile but Wes decided not to cause there were a lot of cases on the news at that time and he didnt want to offend the families of the childeren. Today people are a lot more jaded to things like that and thats actually one of the only things like liked about this movie, was how the brought that back into play :-)

As a fan of the original NOES series, i find this movie alright and worth watching.

The visuals and effects were very good, except for the bedroom wall scene, which looked really dodgy, but the dream to reality shifts were awesome. What i didnt like about this movie was freddys face, it looked really stupid to me, and disturbing, not that its scary, but that its ugly. Freddy being a gardener wasnt good for me, or a molester. And the killing scenes were boring, uncreative unlike the noes sequels

So I watched the original before I went to see the remake, I can honestly say the story is much better constructed this time and Jackie Earle Haley is unbelievably amazing. I wouldn't look at it like one actor is better than the other(Robert Englund) but rather a different perspective on the character. I left the theatre wanting more and I hope they make a sequel or 2 and explain why Freddie is able to do the things he does.
