He's a self-described mechanical player.. he associates mechanics with skill. To me it sounds dumb to say that it takes skill to queue each worker on a mineral patch like they had to do in BW.

Skill should be decision based, not mechanics. Look at chess, it's not that you have to waste 80% of your brain power to move the piece... moving the piece is easy, deciding *where* to move it is the hard part. But Blizzard thinks queen inject should not be autocast... and I'm protoss btw.

@allydea If skill were defined as solely decision based everyone would be able to be 'skillful' at many things in life. Decision making is important, but taking mechanics out of the discussion is just silly because not everyone can do what these players are capable of mechanically.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that I would like the value of a player to be appreciated based on his/her (yeah, right.. "her") decision making and creativity.

That's the entire point of SC2 compared to something like chess, to make decisions important, but other things such as simple mechanics a core part of the game. If it were solely a decision making game you may as well be playing chess. Don't underestimate the difficulty of the mechanics of this game simply because these players are capable of making them look easy.

@sicness27 I don't think you see my point. I am not underestimating mechanics. I know how hard it is from my own play. In my opinion that doesn't make it skill though.

There are so many things to make decisions on during a game of SC that I don't agree that mechanics should be such a big part of it. Grubby was comparing WC3 and chess and I'm sure he (and other pro players) would appreciate more room for decision making in the game. It wouldn't take so long to switch games at least.

@allydea I'm saying that there are other options if you prefer a game that only requires decision making. And just because you don't see it as skill based doesn't mean it doesn't require a certain amount of skill to do it. Otherwise you'd see many, many more people at tournaments who can compete with these players. If the mechanics of the game aren't skill based then what is it then?

Le'ts face it mass mutas is very difficult for protoss, i mean even if you have a lot of phoenix, mass mutas can deal with that. Even mass stalkers with blink is not good if there is a bunch of mutas, stalkers only do like 11 damage on mutas AND they cannot stack like the mutas either.

@SoulGemBundy blizzard is a corporation, they make games and shit, they have a lot going on, so they just take a while to make changes in the game because they have a lot of games and a lot of changes, BUT with something so big as starcraft blizzard should be able to adapt to the opinions of players since they are the ones giving the showmatches to the people therefore promoting the game, so if theres something in the game that is overpowered or useless or imbalanced blizzard should act asap.
