  • Well, I've watched and listened again and likely will again. So very nice! Thanks.

  • @DrumsongHank Thank you, Hank.

    Fran

  • Very sweet. Thank you.

  • I'm definately buying the Zoom H2 Because of the sound you are making!

    Thanks!

  • Lovely

  • @djfunked Thanks dj.

    Fran

  • Nice! I just got Composite Acoustic GXi and I am working on slack key pieces - what strings do you use?

  • @woland99 Thanks. I use Elixir mediums, with the 1st and 6th string up one gauge, so the 1st string is a 14 and the 6th is a .059. This guitar is tuned to taropatch F (C F C F A C low to high), a whole step down from taropatch G, so I use the heavier strings to keep the tension about the same.

    Fran

  • Very nice! Nice guitar too! 5 stars!

  • I'm really enjoying your `ukulele and vocals. Thanks for putting up such lovely videos. Stuff like yours is helping Hawaiian music take over the world!!

    Fran

  • @franguidry Thank you sooo much Fran! Mahalo!

You are a HUGE part of that too!

    Mahalo!

    =)

  • What does "cheeks dainty and damp" mean?

  • do you remember the h2 settings 90/120 mp3/wav what sample rate AGC/Comp etc. very nice was it your arrangment

  • I always record 44/16 .wav no compression or limiting. I often tweak the audio in Adobe Audition or some other editor, mainly to reduce the bass buildup due to proximity effect.

Yes, the arrangement is mine, glad you like it.

  • geat playing, beautiful melody, & that guitar seems to have a unique sound

    great playing!

  • I'm certainly flattered, thanks. I'd say that in the room with a wood guitar the two sound different, but not _that_ different, if you know what I mean.

    Fran

  • That was nice, great playing.

How does the OX sound in standard tuning?

  • Thanks. We had the OX in standard last week and it sounded and played about like it does in this video. Basically it sounds sorta like a nice all solid wood guitar but lacking just a tiny bit of complexity.

It's a great tradeoff for not having to worry about weather or other reliability issues.

    Fran

  • :-)

  • Thanks, Layne.

    Fran

  • mate you've done it again, bloody awesome :)

  • Fantastic stuff.....5*'s

  • Thanks so much. You're doing some pretty imaginative stuff on your channel.

    Fran

  • Nice looking guitar and it sounds fantastic....beautiful playing

  • I sure appreciate your stopping by and leaving a comment. Glad you liked it.

    Fran

  • I like your playing, Fran. Very mellow and laid back. Thanks for sharing.

  • I'm always happy to spread a little slack key around. Glad you enjoyed it.

    Fran

  • Jack,

Just beautiful playing and song. What tuning is that done in? Also, thanks for actually doing a pro job on the video and audio. It does the song justice!

  • The guitar is tuned to what I call "taropatch F" - taropatch is the Hawaiian name for open G tuning, DGDGBD. I modified this tuning by lowering all the strings one whole step - FCFCAC

    Fran

  • Fran, that is a great sounding guitar, unbelievable for carbon fiber...I am stunned. Great playing....

    Thanks for sharing,

    JackL

  • Glad you enjoyed it, Jack. I guess the folks at CA have figured something out. In many ways this model is a lot like a wood guitar, with bracing and so on.

    Fran

  • It's ok if they don't start arguing.

  • Two camera angles?!?! Sounds great. Nice CA guitar!

  • Heck, if I didn't have a camera in the shop and another one out on loan ...

I hope you feel guilty for infecting me with the CA bug. I couldn't stop thinking about Darin's guitar after you brought it.

  • Sounds wonderful, Fran.

    Me ke aloha,

    Wanda

  • Thanks, Wanda. Howzit there, got any trip plans?

  • Sounded great Fran. The guitar has a nice depth to it in F.

  • Thanks, Bob. I was glad I had it when our kanikapila in Livermore got rained on.

  • Sweet song; sweet guitar.

  • Thanks for stopping by. Fred Sokolow was my first guitar teacher way back in the 70s.

  • Nice video and audio quality... and playing too.

  • Thanks, now I have to get into cloning (grin).
