Just a while ago i got the Foo Fighters greatest hits album and that was all i heard. Personally my fav was the Pretender but then i looked up all the other songs on youtube and when i saw this i was like what the hell were they thinking when they did not put this song in the greatest hits album. My play count on itunes for the pretender is 93 but for Generator....165...Keep rocking Foo fighters!
@Kade282 yeah bro Generator came off Foo's 3rd album There's Nothing Left To Lose.. listen to the whole thing you will love it. even Dave has said the song Aurora on the album is his favorite Foo Fighters song to date;)
@Kade282 Yeah Generator is one of my fav Foo songs but the Greatest Hits album is made up of there popular songs how this one never was big amazes me but i remember hearing it for the first time when i bought the cd back in '99 wow that was a long time ago
i love the way way taylor hawkins plays. with his hair all over the place, jaws open and pratically beating the drums to shit. hes the best fuckin drummer ever.
Screaming only means that he's feeling the emotion in the song to a good extent, and dont forget how much metal he listens to. he has to keep it metal.
you know, if you watch some of their older concerts, like the toronto dvd, they perform it in pretty much the exact same way as they do here, and that was 4 years earlier.

I love this song, but it makes me sad that he screams during this performance. I don't understand why; it makes me kind of think Dave is in a mid-life-crisis-must-"rock"-"harder" mode. It detracts from the performance.
yeah im getting paid to write these comments.. surprisingly what real fans do is defend their artists and the way they play there music, and im not going to tollerate little shits like you who think theyve got it all figured out but whos comments about the video make it so blatently obvious their just a fucking ammatuer. look at that i just got my pay cheque for writing this comment, sweeeet, you fucking moron.
here are 10 facts 1. Your reading my comment 2. Now your saying/thinking thats a stupid fact. 4. You didnt notice that i skipped 3. 5. Your checking it now. 6. Your smiling. 7. Your still reading my comment. 8. You know all you have read is true. 10. You didnt notice that i skipped 9. 11. Your checking it now. 12. You didnt notice there are only 10 facts Copy and paste to 1 video, tomorrow will be your best day ever! no matter WHAT!!!!
I was at the front for this gig, and must say that it was spectacular to hear this song live, voice box or no... Always one of my top Foos songs. Really disappointing that they no longer play anything from the first album though.
the talkbox has so much more effect, but i spose it is kind of useless to only have it out there for 1 song, it would probably get in the way, but if u ask me they should use it anyway
WEll i guess its kinda anoying to use a talk box all the time...in my opinion its good on the studio track but live you dont need it for an intro or outro or bridge those ten seconds without the talk box man Who gives a shit?
Hey Guys, Fxxk off!! What`s your problem! Do you seriously think that a musician like Dave Grohl is not able to use a talkbox or to lazy to use it? Just shut up you silly bastards and enjoy what is given to you - - - - Finest rock music and one of the best bands in the world!!!
Actually, it is called a TALKBOX! It is a guitar peddle used to make voice like effects by utilizing a tube and a microphone in addition to the guitar.
I was at this show - walked up on it in London. Right before summer solstice - it was awesome!

The way theyve done the tune purely on guitars, without the need of a talkbox is immense. Sounds much heavier

I like the Foo Fighters, but Dave needs to go back to drums... he's making up for his lacking vocal ability by screaming.
undertakerfreak1127 2 years ago
i guess thats why hes in them crooked vultures now

I actually prefer his vocals over Kurt Cobain's...
NickNorie15 2 years ago 4
And screaming kicks ass... Music is not only about technique, you gotta add some emotion too...
NickNorie15 2 years ago 2
Screaming only means that he's feeling the emotion in the song to a good extent, and dont forget how much metal he listens to. he has to keep it metal.
diabeticmonkey 2 years ago 5
I guess the question is why did he not feel this emotion when he first recorded this song, or any of his performances before this?
Keep it metal? This song? The one with the talkbox and Nirvana-style verse? There are so many better songs in the FF library for him to metal out on.
