@confinedspace2006 I don't think it's pretentious. I think it's awesome that they named it after a cheat for Sonic the Hedgehog. That might be because I was a huge Sonic fan growing up though
@mousenatorx Actually, it says on their website that they've been around since 2001. UUDD released their first CD in 2000. Pretty sure that's before 2001, last time I checked.
@allyouhavetolose No, it says they released their first record in 2001. They played their first show on New Year's Eve, 1999. Anyway, what difference does it make. It's just a coincidence.
@HondaDoraeMon contact them through their website. Google search 'upcdownc', click the top option and that's their website. It has the contact details on there.
so sick of everyone comparing every fucking post rock band to EITS. They actually sound like Up-c Down-c. Go explore some music and then you won't have to use EITS every time you hear post. Sure, there are some similar qualities, but these guys don't sound like explosions.
i remember seing these guys back when they were called Autopilot and i thought they were a bit crap and trying too hard to be weird. They've definately improved since then. Seven or so years does teach you a lot of things. i was only into rap-metal and pop-punk back then so i guess we all change and progress a bit. their name reminds me of entering cheats on an N64 pad except n64 pads don't have a c button so it also makes me think of sega meagadrive controllers. happy Oasthouse gig memories.
of course i'm aware the n64 pad has 4 c buttons, but it doesn't have an actual button called c. it instead has up c, down c, left c and right c. where as a megadrive pad just has one c button. hence the start of the name reminds me of an n64 pad, but the end makes me think of a megadrive pad because of the ABC buttons.
I must admit, their name did intimdate me because of how long it was, but atleast for short they still settle with UpCDownC. I just hope they get more nods to their music, they're incredible.
good band fucking awful and pretentious band name though

@thosefleetingwaves I read Sigur Rós had tried this after doing the same with the guitar, but it didn't sound well.

@thosefleetingwaves i tried it with my violin bow. doesn't work. I think they just recorded cello/double bass

This is true. They share A LOT of similarites with EITS in this song. Not a bad thing by any stretch of the imagination, though.
Fantastic track.
