people should have known that with Bruce doing entire WIESS album that it was time for this gem. Amazing song!! Bruce's best stuff is NEVER on radio. What a shame.
@skinnyfat55: They were probably trying to guess what song it was :) I was at the concert the next night, and me and my dad were trying to ID the song before the other one. As for the people at this concert, I bet they were all saying "Holy sh*t this is NYC Serenade" lol
Also there is much less crown noise on videos shot closer to the stage.
good to know this was happening... this was my birthday night... one of the worst b-day's I've had, but glad to hear this was being played somewhere. One of my favorites.
This latter leg of the US tour makes me sick with envy & jealousy. How I wish I didn't live the other side of the Atlantic. Only sour thing about this vid is the blathering idiots talking their way through such a rarity
I know how you feel, but this is NYC! No one every shuts up, everyone has something to say, and manners yes there are many good folks But sometimes Not even beating A NYer with a sign from another native NYER will stop the chatter.
I wish Bruce would play W,I,E Street S, in Baltimore next week, but he's scheduled to play Born to Run. Wild...is my favorite Bruce album, hands down. But, Wild...is a very New York City vibe, so it makes perfect sense that he played it in NYC. Great song. Great vid.
I just don't know what I'd have done if I'd have been there...I'd have been sobbing tears of joy. This song is like something from a dream as far as I'm concerned. I hope there's a reason for these 'Full album' shows - ie; a DVD/Live LP release.
almost said no to going, probably would have killed myself if i hadnt changed my mind, this song was the most amazing live performance i have and will ever see. hands down.
the Professor at the very top of his game. There's no point in the Sancious comparison, perhaps better just to get into the moment and love it for what it is - a very sensitive song, delivered with a lot of love. Great stuff
I was there last night..and after 30-odd shows...i think it was one of the most special shows ever. They were incredible last night. Does anyone know the name of the song that was played over the PA right before they came out?
Thanks for posting. What a great arrangement. Of course this also proves that Roy isn't as good as Sancious with his attempt to play something similar to that of the record.
Excellent work getting this up so quickly. Only seen NYC Serenade once before in Philly about 10 years ago, and I've been chasing it ever since. Will you be posting from The River tonight? I hope so.

It's lovely. But how on earth can you go...and talk?
peterzang 2 years ago
A large portion of the audience probably didn't even know what they were listening to, much less the significance of it.
Most people (even from NY and NJ) have never even heard Bruce and the E-Street Band's greatest songs.

GReat thoses are the original string parts. He must have hired them locally. They even have the conga player. Roy did a great job with the intro.

scruffs13 2 years ago 3
@scruffs13 I know. Surpised that he never played the intro live David did. First time I saw this.
nittyranks 2 years ago
That's true. It was David Sancious the one who played that intro coz Roy joined the band in 1974
