One of the best vids on the internet....can you please answer me this thing in the most basic way please? Can you make a 'multi-layered' track on this thing, meaning that you can record let's say synths, drums, guitar sound in one track.....is it 'programmable' like a Korg M3?
@jeanpaulfelix It has a multi mode that supports 16 channels for program voices (Combis are not supported), it has two master effects, no inserts and - maybe you wanted to know that - no internal sequencer. So you have to use a computer or hardware midi sequencer to create songs with this machine.
oh o.k thanks so much sir, And i meant something like this Trystan Trycha stuff during my last post...some of his vids are on youtube where he seems to be making synths, drums, violin sounds etc. in one sitting on the machine itself or maybe i'm mistaken....Can you please please suggest a good keyboard/synth of this sort within the 1000-1500 range that's really good for production/sequencing etc.!
Also when i said 'this sort' i don't necessarily mean programmable at one time...i can do that later on Ableton or something....just please suggest a good overall keyboard within the 1000 to 1500 range.....And thanks so much....Also can you give me reasons as to why you choose a particular keyboard etc.?
@1k4z31 Hehe. Some guy complained on a previous video that I was just controlling a Access Virus or something and the video was all fake. That's why. :P
Great patches for x5d,bought midi usb for £10 from ebay, downloaded editor.Installed patches as you instructed, worked perfectly first time.Have connected it up to reason4.Just amazing...
all combi are the same patch lvery little different no much, i recommend to buy an arturia origin or roland gaia or any other synth more adecuate with your style
@danielortizdecaracas You are right, these are all SuperSaw emulation sounds, HandsUp leads and such. In my third video with the X5D ("More sounds...") you can hear different combinations. :)
Hey man i have a question... I have korg x5D and i have midi - usb cable interface... Then i have a problem... Midi cable is installed properly (in/in, out/out, usb in usb :P), i fired up my FL studio, set up everything and tryed to play, but nothing happen's... So i was wondering, is there some settings on keyboard it self that i need to check so it can work. I want to use VST from my PC, dont want sounds from keyboard... You know what i mean :) Tnx anyway :)
There's not too much difference between Korg X5 and X5D. It's only a few more multi samples in the ROM, e.g. WhiteNoise, which is used in this video in almost all sounds.... ^^
hello.hanni13579.well I am ronald from Argentinian a greeting love help for programar these sounds that your have ahy of the korg x5d..In this video 14 the number ..That...It helps graces.
Somehow it's cheating. If you can program midi why bother to learn to play? That's just my opinion. I know guys who can program midi but can't play a lick. It's paint by numbers IMO. But the person who can do both has got my greatest respect too.
I just mentioned the MIDI plugs thing, because some complained in the previous videos, that I only used the X5D as a keyboard to control another synth. When producing, I usually play licks live via midi into the sequencer, quantisize it and then send it back to the synths iva midi. Always sounds cleaner this way. :)
I wouldn't see it as dramatic as you do. If you cannot play something, maybe due to its speed like 180bpm, I'm glad it is program-able with midi.
I also know some of my friends with RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury), they simply can't play fast anymore, with Midi they can still express their feelings into music.
Is it cheating? Yeah, I guess, but what's technology good for if you don't use it? If you want handmade music you take an accoustic instrument like a piano.
On a synth you have arps, sequencers, patterns and lots more to use. For example run a drum loop with an arp and play to it. Not cheating to me. Rather a feature.
I can't disagree with either of your replies. It's still a gut feeling with me. Music IS emotion. Not that I'm a purist but I respect the guy that has learned the chords & mastered his craft. Fast doesn't mean good. It's different than letting the computer 'do it for you' --which is why I said it's cheating--even if it's accepted by the industry & fans. Midi is paint by numbers--a Player Piano sounds good too! Like I said the person who can do both has my greatest respect.
heyy fat sounds:D You're a genious:D I have just bought a KORG X50... And i was wondering if you could help me with a question... Can My KORG Create fat leads like Wildstylez - Pleasure? Coz my KORG doesent sound that FAT:P Tnx:D
I'm okay with that music. As long as I'm not forced to listen to it for more than 20 minutes. However, it's fun to create such sounds on a rather unconventional synth. ;)
Man, you did a good work, but I would like to advise you something: all those combis sound supersawish. It's getting old. Why not using X5D's synthesis for some more innovative sounds? These sounds can be done on most modern synths, so it ain't that impressive. Too bad I don't have a cam, I would like to show you some of my own patches for this synth.
Try to be more original, instead of trying to nail sounds that already exist!
Two things you didn't take care of: 1) These are far not all combinations and 2) there's still the program patches, where Supersaw Sounds aren't possible.
Hehe, I know, I've seen all your videos. Many sounds "overlap" on different synths you have. To me it sounds like you could get it all on one... If you get my point.
Anyways, to tell you the truth, I'm not in this kind of stuff at all, I'm a power-prog metal guy and I like great sound diversity. And X5D is well capable of that. I have added you to my MSN so I hope we'll get to chat sometime :D Cheers!
But you have to look at it, thats old and it have a play toy look a little bit. It don't look like the type of keyboard that will have those type of sounds to it.

god damn, i had X5D, but sold it cause it's piece of shit (for hard trance)
this video proves that a true master can make even such a shit like X5D sound awesome!!
i wonder how tiring was the programming with all these menus

The menu structure was the least problem. It was rather hard to get all the saws layered without achieving a flanger effect.

Have to say, they all sound rather samey? - Korg Limitations?
Whereas the AN1X seems to not only be able to create better buzzy trance sounds, but has an altogether more varied sounding palette anyway?
