Part-2 nothing but the best materials out there today. So this garbage that Gibson stock 57 pickups are better than the Epiphone made stock 57 pickups is simply bullshit. Since 2008 Epiphone has returned to makeing top professional quality guitars period
Master luthier Micheal voltz has been in charge of Epiphone China operations since 2001. Befor that he was Gibsons top luthier for 18 years. Epiphone china for the past four years have been makeing there own pickups and electronics and useing
I can comment on any thing i want asshole and two i dont think Gibson pu's are any better than Epip's. You dont like what i say tuff fucking shit and dont read it or reply to my comments.
Part -3 i just gave you most of the Specs on a 2010 Epiphone G400 Standard 62 Sg. Asian Mahogany Wood is Also used to craft HighEnd Funiture/HighEnd Wood Flooring and many other HighEnd WoodWorks. I play certaine models of G400 Sg. never a Gibson for me.
@EPI6fingers just so you know if happens to be a FACT that Gibson guitars have better pickups than Epiphones. Stop commenting on all the videos concerning epiphones, and fall in a pit and die.
Part-2 Epiphones also have a Snap/Release wire harness. Full 1 inch 500k pots..2 tone and 2 volume controls. Top hat knobs. Solid one piece Asian Mahogany body. 60's slim taper neck. Rosewood finger board with Rosewood neck binding. Grover 14:1 machines.
Here's the Specs for the Epiphone Stock Humbuckers they have been used in Epiphones since 2008. Epiphone Made. Alnico V Magnets . Doubled Vacume Waxed. Wound with the classic Enamel Wireing. Bridge pu is over wound. Adjustable screws. Hand solderd.
The Epiphones are top professional quality and very underpriced for the quality they deliver. The only reason they are underpriced is there made over sea's this will change. The chinese luthiers at Epi are some of the best in the world period!
Naycay you have it backwards my friend. Is your G400 Sg a 2008 to present model? If so the 2010 model G400 standard 62 Sg is still conciderd today to be the best standard Sg out there today. Gibson hasnt made a better guitar than Epiphone since 2008.
Blompcube the type of mahogany is Asian mahogany this type of mahogany is also used to make High end furniture and High end flooring and other High end woodwork!
Part 2 my 2010 epi G400 standard 62 Sg also has Grover 14:1 machines. This is why still today this model and year Sg is still conciderd the best standard Sg out there today in 2012. Like I said befor epiphone guitars are way underpriced for what they are today professinal quality and simply brilliant!
I have my G400 sitting right next to me and I play it all the time. Its a lowish-mid range guitar. Wonderful intrument build wise, playability wise and even tonally. But close inspection reveals the cheapness of construction. Unfortunately Epiphones today aren't what they used to be. They are not "professional" guitars. They are affordable guitars.
I'm not knocking them, they're great, but they aren't amazing.
Epiphone players heres just some not all specs for the 2010 model epiphone G400 standard 62 Sg. Anico V Magnets double vacumed waxed enamel wireing adjustable screws hand solderd epiphone classic and classic plus humbuckers. full 1 inch 500k pots. Snap/Release harness. And alot more. So do we realy need gibson the answer is hell no!
ok the gibson does sound better but for the price the should be a bigger difference on the sound i dont mean epis should sound worse i mean that gibson guitars shouldnt be so expensive because they arent that good.an agile al-3000 sounds better than a gibson and costs a fraccion of what a gibson does
@EPI6fingers could you provide a link to a reliable source that states that? as you should already know by now, i don't automatically believe anything someone tells me on youtube ;)
of course it may be a bit like the humbucker - who made the first one - gibson or gretsch? or maybe rickenbacker who claim they did it first but there's no sufficient evidence that would prove it? who knows.
@EPI6fingers most sources i have read state that it was george beauchamp, who was working with rickenbacker at the time, who developed the first electromagnetic pickup.
les paul made his first pickup out of a telephone receiver, according to the haynes gibson les paul manual.
@EPI6fingers Not true at all. With numerous people experimenting with electrical instruments in the 1920's & early 1930's, there are many claimants to have been the first to invent an electric guitar. Rickenbacker being one of them.
And when you play epiphone your playing a name were it all began 82 years ago for the electric guitar and many other first for the electric guitar. Hows that Blompcube.
@EPI6fingers i don't really see what that has to do with what i was saying, i was responding to xxaimpirate's comment by saying that even though gibsons are good guitars the company does include the brand name in a substancial amount of their retail price, and in fact henry juszkiewicz openly admitted it on multiple occasions.
Xxaimp I would put the 2010 model Epiphone G-400 standard 62 Sg And the Epiphone limited edition 50th Anniversary 1961 Sg Reissue up against the Gibson models any day -place and time! The 2010 model Epiphone G-400 standard 62 Sg is responsible for putting Epiphone Sg's on the map for competing with the Gibson standard Sg And many like The G-400 standard 62 Sg much better than The Gibson models. Face it Gibson is most certainly NOT superior over Epiphone and they will Never be again eaither.
Xxamp what do you think I post what I post jabout Epiphone for my helth. I post to school people Like you were its very obvious by your post about Epiphone that you don't know Jack squat about them people should read previous post before they post most likely it will stop you looking like a total idiot! Happy new year oddtimeman!
Epiphones history out shines Gibson's by miles. Epiphone along with a 16 year old genius by the name of Les Paul invented the WORLDs very first electric guitar on 1930 and the world's very first electric solid body guitar in 1931. Epiphone is also responsible for the first guitar pickups And many other inventions involving the electric guitar. Epiphone was there own company from 1873 to. 1957 that's when the Chicago instrument company bought Epiphone on the demand of les Paul. Also owned Gibson
Shoep how long did It taken for you to get that fucking stupid. Here's, another fine example of someone opening up there mouths before they have done any research dude I suggest You do research in today's Epiphones before you open up your mouth again.
Gibson Les Pauls are better quality all around. Epiphones are lighter because there IS less wood. If you strip an Epiphone down you will find holes drilled in the body to make it lighter=less resonation. So even putting great pickups on an Epiphone is like spray-painting a doggie present.
@shoepebble Gibson started weight-relieving (large holes drilled into the mahogany body under the maple cap) back in the mid '80's, but a few years ago Gibson began chambering (large cavities). I don't think Epiphones are weight-relieved or chambered.
Vortex309. Since top master luthier Michael Voltzs left Gibson and joined Epiphone in 2008 his main goal was to make Epiphone once again a great guitar company. Today Mike Voltzs has most certainly done that and more. Most of the Sg's and Lp's are of top professional quality And most certainly Gibsons equal and better. And it's Mike Voltzs who we need to thank for making Epiphone once again a great guitar company! Dont listen to BlompCube The Guy is s total idiot And asshole!
@EPI6fingers i knew you'd have difficulty understanding what i said. incase you didn't notice i actually agreed with the main bulk of what vortex said, buying an epi and upgrading the pickups is a more cost effective solution than getting a gibson. nonetheless the fact is they are very different guitars despite their similar appearances, and i think the notion that the brand name adds upwards of half a grand to the price of any guitar is absurd. that is all. next time learn to read.
"buying an epi and upgrading the pickups is a more cost effective solution than getting a gibson. nonetheless the fact is they are very different guitars despite their similar appearances"
YES!!! Thank you! I love you for saying that. That's what I've been saying for a long time.
@MasterxMorgan There is no question that there are differences. The real question is; Are the differences better or worse or about the same? Are the differences major or minor? Are the differences worth thousands of dollars or just a couple hundred? This is what I've been saying for a long time. Most people just assume that Gibsons are way better based on the price alone. I'm just trying to get people to research and not just assume. The truth may surprise you.
@MasterxMorgan You're not going to explain? Again, don't just assume. Do your research and learn exactly what the differences are and how they affect the guitars tone and durability. What exactly are you getting for thousands more?
The overall stuff used to build the guitar is better, and it's definitely going to last a long time, and not deteriorate. Yes, the headstock failure is a problem, but just take care of your stuff.
@OddTimeMan Those "thousands" more are for the people who understand the differences. Unfortunately, your arguing about Gibson here. The thousands refered to are more notable on other manufactures. Gibson are the "Apple" of the guitar world. They get away with the prices they charge because people want them. You get better bang-for-buck with an Epi, but you lack ...authenticity maybe?
However, if you move away from Gibson/Fender, thousands will net you something genuinely special.
@MasterxMorgan I agree with OddTimeMan here. Sure, buy an Epi and some Gibson pickups and you'll have an "improved" guitar, for those who can tell. Soley, the difference is manufacturing time, materials and finish. Gibson uses single piece maple tops and single piece mahogany backs, a Nitro finish, no veneers and "...better" pickups.
With a gibson you get a guitar that lasts and holds its value, due to what its made of. Its not necessarily a better guitar, and far from the best.
@naycnay I've seen plenty of Gibsons with 2 piece mahogany backs and 2 piece maple tops. Even some that look like one piece of mahogany are actually 2. Gibson does a good job at matching the woodgrains making the joint hard to see.
Man, cant believe I said that! Yup, almost every gibson will be bookmatched tops and 2 piece backs. Wood in big enough sizes is hard to come by, especially in the quantity gibson would be after.
I would choose the Epiphone any day over a Gibson, its the same way with the Epiphone G-400 and Gibson SG. The SG is better but your your play 500 - 700 dollars more for a brand name. I would just buy the Epiphone and buy better pick ups. And they look just the same so with new pickups. Its a Gibson. Until you get to the Headstock.
@Vortex309 500-700 dollars more for a brand name? don't make me laugh.
that's not to say that buying an epiphone and upgrading the pickups wouldn't be better value for money, of course it would, but the only similarities between an epiphone SG and a gibson SG is the basic appearance, they are not even close to being the same thing.
@Blompcube you are right. the pick guard of the Sg is bigger than the g400, i do believe that the SG has higher quality wood, but you know from a audience stand point, they look really simular. You see what mean?
@Vortex309 well kind of, it's not really higher quality wood, its just a different variety of mahogany. there's also the type of finish, the fret size, neck profile, headstock angle and construction, hardware, etc etc.. in my experience i find that a gibson should get you closer to that instantly recognisable classic sound, but epiphones have their own unique vibe too - i like them both, i just like gibsons better.
Mike Volzts was one of Gibsons top Luthiers for over 18 years. He left Gibson and joined Epiphone in 2001. He's Responsible for training the Chineese Luthiers in China. Enough said.
Blackendfifth if your epiphone Les Paul or Sg was made with in the past 2 to 3 years it's wired with Enamel Wireing so I'm curious why you would rewire your EPI Les Paul?
Oztlc. the luthiers from China have always been known for there top quality in wood work for centuries. And it's not going to change. Today's Epiphones are top professional quality I personally like certain models of there sg's much better than Gibsons. G-400 Standard 62 sg and the limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 sg much more than the Gibson Models.
Blackended with in the past 3 with the Epiphone les pauls and sg's you wont here any differnce at all between the Gibsons and the Epiphones. Like i said befor todays Epiphones are the very best in quality there just way under priced.
I have just bought an Epi Les Paul Standard and I can tell you its a superb guitar, its far better quality than my 70's Ibanez, go figure. I am very picky, been playing for 35 years and this guitar is as nice if not nicer than any guitar I've ever put my hands on bar none. I am also a "Made in China" nazi, so that should tell you something. I won't be bagging the chinese the way I have been anymore.
Terrencerocks here we go again running your big fucking mouth and nothing but pure shit comes out. Fuck off terrence what are you a fucking retard bo you under stand english gittbag. Gibsons BLOW! Asshole period. dcooper830 dont listen to this jerk off.
To ban this guy does not know how to play the guitar, so what the hell is he going to know about guitars in the first place. Epiphones are cheap copies of Gibsons made with inferior low grade materials in China. Inferior Electronics, Pots, Pickups, Wood, Tuners, inferior Processes in the manufacturing. CLUE why can you buy a used Epiphone for 250 and you cannot buy a used Gibson for less than 2/3 the original price. To the inexperienced Novice, these look really good. For the Pro not.
dcooper830 how long have you been playing and do you gig part or full time. I gig'd on a full bass's for years and build custom guitars on the side. I like your vids im a Epi man all the way. EPI's for the past 3 years are simply Brilliant. Take care.
Every real guitarist knows that Les Paul was always a Epiphone man Fisrt. He played Epiphone guitars from the 1920's all the way until his death in 2009. Some of his very favorites were Epiphones. Usa and China made. In 2007 he was playing a EPI GOLD TOP.
Epiphone sg's G-400's and the limited edition reissues are Gibson usa Authorized this means there the real deal. Also the Lp's are Endorsed by the late great les pauls. Les paul played Epiphone les pauls just as much as he did the Gibsons. Epi 4 Life!
I have a 2010 Epiphone G-400 Standard 62 sg and (2) 2011 Epiphone Limited Edition 50Th Anniversary 1961 Reissue sg's. I would Never Record or play live with any thing else but my EPI sgs. NEVER would i choose Gibson over my Epiphones. Never! EPI 4 Life
Its also was Epiphone and Fender that shape and molded the early years of Rock n Roll (1952) Gibson was there but not on the level as Epiphone or Fender. So if you want a guitar that has top quality and loads of history buy Epiphone.
Most of you only buy Gibson for the name. If thats the case then you should want todays Epiphones over Gibson for the simple fact it was Epiphone with les paul and rickenbacker that invented the first Electric solid body guitar back in 1931.
2010 and 2011 have been 2 of the best years for Epiphone as far as top pro quality made guitars and running all over Gibson. I hope it continues in to 2012. That will depend what kind of slimmy shit Gibson might pull on Epiphone. EPI 4 EVER!
I asked different guitar players, my guitar teacher and some other teachers, they keep telling me that you 're paying for the brand and the work labour. There are difference in term of quality between epiphone and gibson but the different of price between these 2 awesome guitars doesn't justify the quality of one to another. Epiphone price does goes down while gibson goes up. Since i never sell any of my guitars and Im not that kinda of great guitar player, thats why i bought epi instead
Also i know you guys know this but since epiphone and gibson are sister companies, there isnt gonna be. Huge difference between les pauls. An lp is an lp no matter what cuz if it has that signature, its lisenced with lp's design. Both have the exact same neck save design
Hey guys. I got a cherry sunburst epi les paul standard for $500 at guitar center in like 2006-7ish and love it to death. I have also played my uncles 1980 gib les paul standard and they are damn close. For $500 range, epi les pauls pwn
Nah I went to Sam ash and saw the EPI cherry sunburst standard tested against the Gibson les Paul studio and the epi standard sounded way nicer the studio is too quiet I got my epi standard for $317 brand new
Part-2 your getting under priced works or art with Epiphone. With Gibson your getting over priced trash. Theres your choice Art or Trash. I would never buy a Gibson again as long as Epiphone is here. Iwont buy a Gibson period at all there Garbage.
DRGK theres no differnce. Leave the EPI alone. Theres no real differnce at all. If your Epip was made the past 2 years it blows Gibson ass away. Thats for dam shure. Stay away from them slimmy bastards Gibson. With Epiphone your getting under priced
Well good for you on your new les paul. But they way it sounds this is eaither your first guitar or your first les paul of any kind. I can assure you the Gibson isnt better than the Epiphone Model. Gibson hasnt been for the past 5 to 6 years. EPI 4 Life.
Well oddtimeman its been real but i have spent way to much of my time on this subject. I will leave you with this todays Epiphone guitars are a hell of a lot better than todays Gibsons. And ill bet Epiphone will here a lot longer than Gibson. Bet on that.
Well oddtimeman we both have somthing in common by reading a lot of your post you dont have every one your side thats for dam shure and 2 im not stratdem i have made it very clear who i am. Have a good holiday oh Epi's are are still better than gibson.
And it was the same thing when i saw joe bonamassa and Rush with Alex Llfson. I dont now oddtimeman but with in the past few years these player and more are use Epiphone more than think. The guitarist from my chemical romance uses them all the time.
Les paul has always been a Epiphone man first he made no bones about that and im shure you already new that. Slash did a small gig in philadelphia pa last year and i remember him playing both Gibson and Epiphone les pauls the whole show.
The two les pauls he played that summer night in 2007 was a Epiphone les paul custom and a Epiphone les paul Gold Top. And do your selfa favor oddtimeman stop telling people cheaper parts because ts straight up BullShit.
@EPI6fingers I think you're the only person in the country (this includes stratdem because you two are the same person) that believes Chinese made parts & labor are superior to all else. Nobody believes you for a second.
Thats funny when i saw les paul live in new york city in 2007 he was playing a 2007 Les paul custom. Were you got your info from is WRONG! As matter of fact for the 3 houres he played both Epiphone les pauls he play wernt from the usa.
@EPI6fingers Les famously played his old American-made Epiphones for decades. Sure, he may have played some new ones from China too, same with Slash and Zakk Wylde, but that's only because of the terms of their endorsement deals they have with Gibson. Those guys play their Gibsons a MILLION times more often.
@deathafi Les played American-made Epiphones. They don't make them in USA anymore. In my lifetime, Epiphone production went from USA to Japan to Korea to China...all because Gibson wanted to find cheaper parts & labor.
I Like epiphone better than gibson. I think gibson are like the same thing as epiphone, but overly expensive. So, it's like Top Gun for the NES, You Pick Less missiles or More, but both are Equal, since the target dies with a single shot even with the machine gun.
The only real differnce between the two is Epiphone is way under priced for the top quality they put out.now i would also say that the Epiphone Limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 sg and the G-400 standard 62 sg are better than the Gibson versions sg's.
Menchild90 i have been a luthier well over 30 years. I have had recent models of Epiphone and Gibson in my shop and torn down. The differnce between the two is so little its not worth to mention. Also i have found Epiphones to be better crafted.
You can hear an ever so slight difference. The Gibson sounds a little bit warmer (more dense, higher grade mahogany) and the Epiphone pickups seem to be a little thinner sounding/lower output...you can hear it in the attack and decay. But I would still buy an Epiphone over a Gibson any day and just swap some Duncans into it. Gibsons are not worth the thousands of dollars that they cost. You're just paying for a name when you buy a Gibson. Kinda like buying a Harley.
@vagabond586 I was reading your comments while the video was playing - when i finished I looked at the vid and saw he was on the Gibson - seriously could only hear the slightest difference. I'm gonna soup up my Epiphone with some WCR Godwoods and better electronics (you'd be amazed at the difference the wiring and capacitors make!!) - I doubt even slash would be able to tell the difference after that :)
@vagabond586 That's mostly true. I think Gibson have achieved something fantastic in showing every instrument they make with great thought and great design. The quality of the Gibson does outshine the Epiphone but I do still think that Epiphones are very good. I own an Epi Standard and the sound and the chunkiness is true to the Les Paul design; the thickness and intonation however do lack some high end quality.
@xxaimpiratexx Don't guage guitars by their prices. A good guitar is a good guitar. And it shouldn't matter where it was made or what name is on the headstock. I have a $600 Korean-made Dean Cadillac that I like BETTER than my Gibson LP. It looks, feels, plays & sounds like it cost thousands. My Gibson is nice, but it doesn't blow me away like the pricetag suggests it should. The price is bloated because of the name.
More and more and more and more Guitarist are useing Epiphone SG's and Les pauls and most of them are pro players. Epiphone's only down fall is there still with Gibson and there guitars are so under priced for the top quality they put in there instrument
Gibson better than epiphone? Not a chance in hell people. May be 5 to 10 years ago but no way now. And they are very underpriced Guitars for the very high Quality epiphone produces.
To people who prefer EPI over gibson. gibson players you can talk bullshit about Epiphone all day and all night and it still not going to change a dam thing. 95% of the negativity coming from Gibson players is total BULLSHIT. Give me EPI ANY TIME!
@stratdem Are you saying that Gibson should leave China and find even CHEAPER labor, and then continue to RAISE prices on us? Is that what you're saying? Because you keep saying over & over that Epiphones are UNDERpriced. So you believe Gibson's profits should be even higher?
Oddtimeman. Do you realy think im the only one who says that. do ya? Do you talk to any other guitarist? Do you know any other guitatist/musicians? So far for every one person that talks down EPI 3 back me up 3 to 1 EPI's are simply fantastic.
@stratdem I don't understand you at all. You keep avoiding the issue and you keep bringing up a non-issue! So are you saying that Gibson should charge MORE for their Epiphones and make an even LARGER profit than they already are? Is that what you're saying?
Theres alot of top luthiers and other guitarist that i have talked to and they all say the same thing ABOUT EPIPHONE there Brilliant guitars and under priced. And its time for EPI TO TELL GIBSON TO SHOVE IT!
Oddtimeman the bottom line is that i could give to simple shits what you think of Epiphone. I have certain Epiphone sg's and i most certainly choose EPI over Gibson any day and time. So the very second that you and master.baterxmorgan shut up ill shut up
@stratdem You're completely missing my point...as usual. I'm just trying to say that you're wrong when you say Epi's are UNDERpriced. Their price markup is huge. Gibson is making a killing from the sales of their Epiphone products. It's what's keeping Gibson alive. In my lifetime, Epi production went from USA to Japan to Korea to China...all because Gibson wanted to find cheaper labor. What's next? Epi's made in Vietnam? Cambodia? Laos? It wouldn't surprise me.
Epiphone crafts some of the very best guitars on the planet. There only real down fall is that there guitars are WAY UNDER PRICED thats going to change and it should. EPI MAN 4 LIFE!
@stratdem How can you keep saying that Epi's are UNDERpriced when they're made in China for around $50 a piece and then sold to people like you for around $500??? Chinese labor is dirt cheap, so how is that UNDERPRICED??? That's called BLOATED prices! It's called corporate greed! Epi's should only cost us $200 MAX.
Murfdog exstream. my ass you realy want me to beleave your bullshit. You have stone cold Gibson fans that wouldnt say exstream. Todays Epiphones Shit and Piss all over todays Gibsons this is a fact. Gibson is washed up. EPI's only down fall under price
turn the video on and go on facebook or something to distract your self from the brief pause when he changes guitars you won't even notice a difference
Timpettey i dont think you realize what a TOOL you are, little man i have been playing guitar over 38 years longer than you have been a live. I own a original 1969 sg and played many Gibson standard im telling you there not better than the Epi's
@stratdem You are saying that Epiphone guitars are built to the same standards as Gibson? I've been playing Gibson guitars for 20 years, and the difference between Gibson and Epiphone is extreme. A video comparison on youtube is one thing, but hearing and feeling the difference in person is a whole new game. Epiphone makes a good guitar, and it's worth what it will cost you. But, once you play a real Gibson you understand where the extra money goes.
Epiphone has been Gibsons main sister company for over 54 years. Epiphone SGs and Les pauls are Endorsed by the late great les paul himself and Gibson usa. Shut the fuck up if you dont know what your talking about and its very clear you dont!
Epiphone is not a copy asswipes they are les paul and Gibson usa Endoresd PERIOD! They UNDER PRICED guitars PERIOD! I never have seen so much fucking stupidy on one page like i see here. dcooper you had the rite idia.
I see what you are saying and youre probably right but im just trying to say to thease people that talk about how Epiphone is BETTER than Gibson, they dont realize that Epiphones is a COPY of a Gibson, not the real thing, thats why it is cheaper. But i agree they are way under priced.
@timpettey13 epiphones are cheaper than gibsons because they are gibson's very own budget line and that's the only reason. common sense would dictate that gibson would intentionally hold back on epiphone's quality otherwise there'd be no incentive for people to pay the extra money for a gibson (this is why the epiphone elitist line was discontinued!)
but there are some great copies out there that are just as good quality as any gibson, many of which are a fair bit cheaper.
Ok so what im seeing is that the Eppiphones are good for the price, but you get what you pay for, you pay $300 for a guitar youre gonna get a guitar worth $300. You pay $1200 dollars on a guitar youre gonna get a guitar worth $1200. The pickups will be hotter and the overall craftsmanship will be better. Gibson owns Epiphone, they make CHEAPER COPY MODELS tyey are Gibsons little brother. Gibsons are U.S.A made while most Epiphones are Chinese. If you just look at the obvious, ull c what u got.
@timpettey13 Price is not the best gauge. That old saying "You get what you pay for" just isn't true anymore. Some guitars are WAY overpriced, & some are reasonably priced. A Gibson Les Paul Studio Worn Series is $800. A Gibson Les Paul Custom is $3,900. They are the same guitar. One is plain-looking, and one is cosmetically enhanced. A gloss finish, binding, & gold-plated hardware doesn't cost $3,000! And I have a $600 Korean-made Dean Cadillac that I like BETTER than my Gibson. It's flawless.
I hate how idiots bag on Gibson. For the guys that actually do this for a living, they usually get Gibson's. Why? Because they love what they do and the price on the guitar is worth it cause that's their life style of course it's worth a couple grand if that's what you use to make your living. Epiphone isn't bad at all but getting a Gibson is awesome to if you love music that much price shouldn't matter.
To the idiots that keep saying stupid shit like Epiphones are good for the money and other dumb shit. Epiphones are way under priced period thats straight from the usa consumer report. Take a $500 Epi if that same guitar was crafted here usa its $1,000.
Release the very first Electric solid body guitar back in 1931. So Gibson fan boys everytime you pick up your over rated and over priced Gibson electric guitar you can thank Epiphone. Epiphone has more class in one tuning peg than Gibson is as a whole.
Epiphone guitars are top quality crafted and very classy and classic. Epiphone has more classic history behind them than gibson ever did or will gibson not even close to Epiphone. Heres just a start. Epiphone is the first guitar company to invent and
Gotho then your fucking IQ IS O because these guitarist play Epiphone les pauls and sg 's because there pro top quality guitars and they also have class. Les paul himself was with Epiphone from tha Early 1920's until his death in 2009. Now go away.
So Zakk wylde - Slash -joe bonamassa - Alex lifeson - john lee hooker and much more are 13 year kids Because every one of them play Epiphone les pauls. And lets not for get the man himself. Dude dont be a moron and grow up. Think befor you open your mouth
@stratdem ya the play epi's a bit, but compared to how much they play gibson's, its almost nothing. so basically ur implying that they use epi's more then they use gibsons.... which anyone with an IQ of over 10 would now is total b.s. think b4 u open ur mouth. and wtf r u talking about??? almost NO pro guitarist thinks epi's r overall better the gibsons. gibson owns epiphone, and they se epi's as the "economy" version of the gibson. they dont make their epi's better then their actual gibsons
Gotho i have been 38 years and did my fisrt pro gig at 17. The bottom is more and more pro guitarist arnt buying the bullshit that Gibson is superior over todays Epiphones. There was a time but no more. Get use to it.
holy shit is anyone here an experienced guitar player? its obvious that gibsons or waaay better than epi's. the wood, pickups, actual crafting, it is INDESPUTABLE that gibsons are superior. in terms of overall sound and feel 99 out of 100 times the gibson is superior. anyone who disagrees is just in denual cuz they cant afford a gibson and r trying to justify it. if ur good at guitar and over the age of 18, u know what i mean. ur all just whiny little 13 year olds
@gothomus0 yep, epis are pretty good guitars for the money, but gibsons are better quality, that's why they cost more - remember, gibson owns epiphone, it's not like they are competing against each other or anything. think of epiphone as gibson's very own budget line, because that's exactly what they are. thinking rationally, no company is going to make their cheaper products better than their more expensive ones. i don't know why so few people on youtube can grasp this simple concept, tbh...
@ stratdem if u compare the pickups head to head in person multiple times as i have, thr gibson is indesputably better sounding. and epi's r nice, but u seem to not b able to understand that gibsons r VASTLY higher in quality in every aspect. plus in 30 years, tht gibson will appreciate a lot more in value then the epi. plus ever since gibson left kalamazoo, the epi's have been made in foreign asian countries, not the US. i understand that for the price, epi's r great, but the gibson is vastly
The specs for the EPI Les paul humbuckers are. Classic and Classic plus. Alnico V Magnets. Double vacum waxed and wound with Enamel wireing. The bridge pick up is over wound. Some also come with Alnico II Magnets also. Now check Gibsons.
Rcthales Gibson MUCH better sounding? Are you hearing the same thing i am? You must not be. Gibson MUCH better? NOT EVEN CLOSE. i suggest you check out the specs on the humbuckers that are in the EPI and then the Gibson. You are going to be surprised.
The luthier in new jersey has worked on Eddie van halen-jimmy page - pete townsends guitars in the past. He also very much agreed that Epiphone guitars are very under priced and some of the best made in the world. Like i said Ibanez? No way.
That very guitar if purchase here in the usa would cost you $800 to $850. how i know this. I have taken a few of my EPI guitars to a top luthier in new jersey and he told me so. There isnt a Ibanez on the planet crafted better than Epiphone. Jem eaither.
Skinny 998 USA Consumer report has stated that todays Epiphone guitars are some of the very best crafted guitars in the world. Epiphone guitars are the most under priced guitars in the world. For a example if you buy a $400 Epiphone guitar
A recent USA Consumer Report stated That the Gibson Authorized Epiphone sg's and lp's are some of the best crafted guitars in the world at any price. Theres only 2 guitar companys in the world that make endorsed Lp's and sg's they are Gibson and Epiphone.
I have this kick ass epiphone. It's chinese made. Its a custom limited edition classic plaintop. honeyburst color. identical to a gibson. if you dont believe me I'll post pics
Why that's impossible?!? You have Walsh's tone with an Epiphone?!? But Epi's are such inferior guitars since they don't cost $3000 (but made the same way by the same company). Can you smell the sarcasm? LOL
@Freebird1877 Typical idiot who doesnt even try guitars before his buys one. I bet the only reason you bought a gibson was to have the name 'Gibson' on your guitar. grow up kid
@Freebird1877 My Gibson LP is nice but it doesn't blow me away as the pricetag suggests it should. I actually like my $600 Korean-made Dean Cadillac better. It feels/plays/sounds/looks like it cost thousands.
Part-2 nothing but the best materials out there today. So this garbage that Gibson stock 57 pickups are better than the Epiphone made stock 57 pickups is simply bullshit. Since 2008 Epiphone has returned to makeing top professional quality guitars period

@EPI6fingers just so you know if happens to be a FACT that Gibson guitars have better pickups than Epiphones. Stop commenting on all the videos concerning epiphones, and fall in a pit and die.

Naycay you have it backwards my friend. Is your G400 Sg a 2008 to present model? If so the 2010 model G400 standard 62 Sg is still conciderd today to be the best standard Sg out there today. Gibson hasnt made a better guitar than Epiphone since 2008.

Like I said befor epiphone guitars are way underpriced for what they are today professinal quality and simply brilliant!

@EPI6fingers

Blompcube once again it was epiphone that beat the otheres to the punch in 1930. Have a nice day.
EPI6fingers 3 weeks ago
@EPI6fingers could you provide a link to a reliable source that states that? as you should already know by now, i don't automatically believe anything someone tells me on youtube ;)
of course it may be a bit like the humbucker - who made the first one - gibson or gretsch? or maybe rickenbacker who claim they did it first but there's no sufficient evidence that would prove it? who knows.
Blompcube 3 weeks ago 5
Yes Rickendacker was working on the electic guitar. But it was Epiphone that beat them to the punch in 1930.
EPI6fingers 3 weeks ago
@EPI6fingers most sources i have read state that it was george beauchamp, who was working with rickenbacker at the time, who developed the first electromagnetic pickup.
les paul made his first pickup out of a telephone receiver, according to the haynes gibson les paul manual.
Blompcube 3 weeks ago 2
If there was no epiphone there would be no electric guitars period.
EPI6fingers 4 weeks ago
@EPI6fingers Not true at all. With numerous people experimenting with electrical instruments in the 1920's & early 1930's, there are many claimants to have been the first to invent an electric guitar. Rickenbacker being one of them.
OddTimeMan 4 weeks ago 2
And when you play epiphone your playing a name were it all began 82 years ago for the electric guitar and many other first for the electric guitar. Hows that Blompcube.
EPI6fingers 4 weeks ago
@EPI6fingers i don't really see what that has to do with what i was saying, i was responding to xxaimpirate's comment by saying that even though gibsons are good guitars the company does include the brand name in a substancial amount of their retail price, and in fact henry juszkiewicz openly admitted it on multiple occasions.
i wasn't talking about epiphones at all.

EPI6fingers 1 month ago

EPI6fingers 1 month ago
Gibson Les Pauls are better quality all around. Epiphones are lighter because there IS less wood. If you strip an Epiphone down you will find holes drilled in the body to make it lighter=less resonation. So even putting great pickups on an Epiphone is like spray-painting a doggie present.
shoepebble 1 month ago

EPI6fingers 1 month ago
@EPI6fingers i knew you'd have difficulty understanding what i said. incase you didn't notice i actually agreed with the main bulk of what vortex said, buying an epi and upgrading the pickups is a more cost effective solution than getting a gibson. nonetheless the fact is they are very different guitars despite their similar appearances, and i think the notion that the brand name adds upwards of half a grand to the price of any guitar is absurd. that is all. next time learn to read.
Blompcube 1 month ago 5
"buying an epi and upgrading the pickups is a more cost effective solution than getting a gibson. nonetheless the fact is they are very different guitars despite their similar appearances"
YES!!! Thank you! I love you for saying that. That's what I've been saying for a long time.
MasterxMorgan 1 week ago
@MasterxMorgan There is no question that there are differences. The real question is; Are the differences better or worse or about the same? Are the differences major or minor? Are the differences worth thousands of dollars or just a couple hundred? This is what I've been saying for a long time. Most people just assume that Gibsons are way better based on the price alone. I'm just trying to get people to research and not just assume. The truth may surprise you.
OddTimeMan 1 week ago
Oh, it's worth thousands, alright...
MasterxMorgan 1 week ago
@MasterxMorgan You're not going to explain? Again, don't just assume. Do your research and learn exactly what the differences are and how they affect the guitars tone and durability. What exactly are you getting for thousands more?
OddTimeMan 1 week ago
Yeah, because I'm not EPI6fingers.
The overall stuff used to build the guitar is better, and it's definitely going to last a long time, and not deteriorate. Yes, the headstock failure is a problem, but just take care of your stuff.
MasterxMorgan 1 week ago
@MasterxMorgan Yeah, that EPI6fingers is a pain in the arse.
OddTimeMan 1 week ago
No kidding. Btw, totally off-topic, I hope you signed that petition against SOPA.
MasterxMorgan 1 week ago
@MasterxMorgan no matter how careful you are with your guitars accidents can still happen occasionally.
Blompcube 1 week ago
Obviously, but I take good care of my shit. Nothing has happened as of yet.
MasterxMorgan 1 week ago
@OddTimeMan Those "thousands" more are for the people who understand the differences. Unfortunately, your arguing about Gibson here. The thousands refered to are more notable on other manufactures. Gibson are the "Apple" of the guitar world. They get away with the prices they charge because people want them. You get better bang-for-buck with an Epi, but you lack ...authenticity maybe?
However, if you move away from Gibson/Fender, thousands will net you something genuinely special.
naycnay 1 week ago
@MasterxMorgan I agree with OddTimeMan here. Sure, buy an Epi and some Gibson pickups and you'll have an "improved" guitar, for those who can tell. Soley, the difference is manufacturing time, materials and finish. Gibson uses single piece maple tops and single piece mahogany backs, a Nitro finish, no veneers and "...better" pickups.
With a gibson you get a guitar that lasts and holds its value, due to what its made of. Its not necessarily a better guitar, and far from the best.
naycnay 1 week ago
@naycnay I've seen plenty of Gibsons with 2 piece mahogany backs and 2 piece maple tops. Even some that look like one piece of mahogany are actually 2. Gibson does a good job at matching the woodgrains making the joint hard to see.
FiveEightSevenEight 1 week ago
@FiveEightSevenEight
Man, cant believe I said that! Yup, almost every gibson will be bookmatched tops and 2 piece backs. Wood in big enough sizes is hard to come by, especially in the quantity gibson would be after.
naycnay 1 week ago
I would choose the Epiphone any day over a Gibson, its the same way with the Epiphone G-400 and Gibson SG. The SG is better but your your play 500 - 700 dollars more for a brand name. I would just buy the Epiphone and buy better pick ups. And they look just the same so with new pickups. Its a Gibson. Until you get to the Headstock.
Vortex309 1 month ago
@Vortex309 500-700 dollars more for a brand name? don't make me laugh.
that's not to say that buying an epiphone and upgrading the pickups wouldn't be better value for money, of course it would, but the only similarities between an epiphone SG and a gibson SG is the basic appearance, they are not even close to being the same thing.
Blompcube 1 month ago
@Blompcube you are right. the pick guard of the Sg is bigger than the g400, i do believe that the SG has higher quality wood, but you know from a audience stand point, they look really simular. You see what mean?
Vortex309 3 weeks ago
@Vortex309 well kind of, it's not really higher quality wood, its just a different variety of mahogany. there's also the type of finish, the fret size, neck profile, headstock angle and construction, hardware, etc etc.. in my experience i find that a gibson should get you closer to that instantly recognisable classic sound, but epiphones have their own unique vibe too - i like them both, i just like gibsons better.

Epiphone $500

To ban this guy does not know how to play the guitar, so what the hell is he going to know about guitars in the first place. Epiphones are cheap copies of Gibsons made with inferior low grade materials in China. Inferior Electronics, Pots, Pickups, Wood, Tuners, inferior Processes in the manufacturing. CLUE why can you buy a used Epiphone for 250 and you cannot buy a used Gibson for less than 2/3 the original price. To the inexperienced Novice, these look really good. For the Pro not.

EPI 4 EVER!
EPI6fingers 2 months ago
I asked different guitar players, my guitar teacher and some other teachers, they keep telling me that you 're paying for the brand and the work labour. There are difference in term of quality between epiphone and gibson but the different of price between these 2 awesome guitars doesn't justify the quality of one to another. Epiphone price does goes down while gibson goes up. Since i never sell any of my guitars and Im not that kinda of great guitar player, thats why i bought epi instead
bogellenong 2 months ago 2
Also i know you guys know this but since epiphone and gibson are sister companies, there isnt gonna be. Huge difference between les pauls. An lp is an lp no matter what cuz if it has that signature, its lisenced with lp's design. Both have the exact same neck save design

@EPI6fingers Les famously played his old American-made Epiphones for decades. I Like epiphone better than gibson. I think gibson are like the same thing as epiphone, but overly expensive. So, it's like Top Gun for the NES, You Pick Less missiles or More, but both are Equal, since the target dies with a single shot even with the machine gun.
brasileirorusso 2 months ago
The only real differnce between the two is Epiphone is way under priced for the top quality they put out.now i would also say that the Epiphone Limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 sg and the G-400 standard 62 sg are better than the Gibson versions sg's.
EPI6fingers 2 months ago
Menchild90 i have been a luthier well over 30 years. I have had recent models of Epiphone and Gibson in my shop and torn down. The differnce between the two is so little its not worth to mention. Also i have found Epiphones to be better crafted.
EPI6fingers 2 months ago
You can hear an ever so slight difference. The Gibson sounds a little bit warmer (more dense, higher grade mahogany) and the Epiphone pickups seem to be a little thinner sounding/lower output...you can hear it in the attack and decay. But I would still buy an Epiphone over a Gibson any day and just swap some Duncans into it. Gibsons are not worth the thousands of dollars that they cost. You're just paying for a name when you buy a Gibson. Kinda like buying a Harley.
vagabond586 2 months ago 11
@vagabond586 I was reading your comments while the video was playing - when i finished I looked at the vid and saw he was on the Gibson - seriously could only hear the slightest difference. I'm gonna soup up my Epiphone with some WCR Godwoods and better electronics (you'd be amazed at the difference the wiring and capacitors make!!) - I doubt even slash would be able to tell the difference after that :)
BlackenedFifth 1 month ago
@vagabond586 That's mostly true. I think Gibson have achieved something fantastic in showing every instrument they make with great thought and great design. The quality of the Gibson does outshine the Epiphone but I do still think that Epiphones are very good. I own an Epi Standard and the sound and the chunkiness is true to the Les Paul design; the thickness and intonation however do lack some high end quality.

@xxaimpiratexx Don't guage guitars by their prices. A good guitar is a good guitar. And it shouldn't matter where it was made or what name is on the headstock.

EPI6fingers 2 months ago
No difference :L

i had the window scrolled down to read the comments and couldnt hear the diff when he changed the guitars, maybe the playabilty is diff tho..

Gibson better than epiphone? Not a chance in hell people. May be 5 to 10 years ago but no way now. And they are very underpriced Guitars for the very high Quality epiphone produces.
EPI6fingers 2 months ago
@EPI6fingers What's up, stratdem?
OddTimeMan 2 months ago
To people who prefer EPI over gibson. gibson players you can talk bullshit about Epiphone all day and all night and it still not going to change a dam thing. 95% of the negativity coming from Gibson players is total BULLSHIT. Give me EPI ANY TIME!
stratdem 2 months ago
@stratdem Are you saying that Gibson should leave China and find even CHEAPER labor, and then continue to RAISE prices on us? Is that what you're saying? Because you keep saying over & over that Epiphones are UNDERpriced. So you believe Gibson's profits should be even higher?
OddTimeMan 2 months ago
@OddTimeMan ... hes just sayin it so he feels like hes got a worthful guitar lol... sentamentally speaking,
kingnocomply 2 months ago
Oddtimeman. Do you realy think im the only one who says that. do ya? Do you talk to any other guitarist? Do you know any other guitatist/musicians? So far for every one person that talks down EPI 3 back me up 3 to 1 EPI's are simply fantastic.
stratdem 2 months ago
@stratdem I don't understand you at all. You keep avoiding the issue and you keep bringing up a non-issue! So are you saying that Gibson should charge MORE for their Epiphones and make an even LARGER profit than they already are? Is that what you're saying?
OddTimeMan 2 months ago
Theres alot of top luthiers and other guitarist that i have talked to and they all say the same thing ABOUT EPIPHONE there Brilliant guitars and under priced. And its time for EPI TO TELL GIBSON TO SHOVE IT!
stratdem 2 months ago
Oddtimeman the bottom line is that i could give to simple shits what you think of Epiphone. I have certain Epiphone sg's and i most certainly choose EPI over Gibson any day and time. So the very second that you and master.baterxmorgan shut up ill shut up
stratdem 2 months ago
@stratdem You're completely missing my point...as usual. I'm just trying to say that you're wrong when you say Epi's are UNDERpriced. Their price markup is huge. Gibson is making a killing from the sales of their Epiphone products. It's what's keeping Gibson alive. In my lifetime, Epi production went from USA to Japan to Korea to China...all because Gibson wanted to find cheaper labor. What's next? Epi's made in Vietnam? Cambodia? Laos? It wouldn't surprise me.
OddTimeMan 2 months ago
Epiphone crafts some of the very best guitars on the planet. There only real down fall is that there guitars are WAY UNDER PRICED thats going to change and it should. EPI MAN 4 LIFE!
stratdem 2 months ago
@stratdem How can you keep saying that Epi's are UNDERpriced when they're made in China for around $50 a piece and then sold to people like you for around $500??? Chinese labor is dirt cheap, so how is that UNDERPRICED??? That's called BLOATED prices! It's called corporate greed! Epi's should only cost us $200 MAX.
OddTimeMan 2 months ago
Murfdog exstream. my ass you realy want me to beleave your bullshit. You have stone cold Gibson fans that wouldnt say exstream. Todays Epiphones Shit and Piss all over todays Gibsons this is a fact. Gibson is washed up. EPI's only down fall under price
stratdem 2 months ago
turn the video on and go on facebook or something to distract your self from the brief pause when he changes guitars you won't even notice a difference

Timpettey i dont think you realize what a TOOL you are, little man i have been playing guitar over 38 years longer than you have been a live. I own a original 1969 sg and played many Gibson standard im telling you there not better than the Epi's
stratdem 2 months ago
@stratdem You are saying that Epiphone guitars are built to the same standards as Gibson? I've been playing Gibson guitars for 20 years, and the difference between Gibson and Epiphone is extreme. A video comparison on youtube is one thing, but hearing and feeling the difference in person is a whole new game. Epiphone makes a good guitar, and it's worth what it will cost you. But, once you play a real Gibson you understand where the extra money goes.
murfdog19 2 months ago
Epiphone has been Gibsons main sister company for over 54 years. Epiphone SGs and Les pauls are Endorsed by the late great les paul himself and Gibson usa. Shut the fuck up if you dont know what your talking about and its very clear you dont!
stratdem 2 months ago
Epiphone is not a copy asswipes they are les paul and Gibson usa Endoresd PERIOD! They UNDER PRICED guitars PERIOD! I never have seen so much fucking stupidy on one page like i see here. dcooper you had the rite idia.
stratdem 2 months ago
@OddTimeMan
I see what you are saying and youre probably right but im just trying to say to thease people that talk about how Epiphone is BETTER than Gibson, they dont realize that Epiphones is a COPY of a Gibson, not the real thing, thats why it is cheaper. But i agree they are way under priced.
timpettey13 2 months ago
@timpettey13 epiphones are cheaper than gibsons because they are gibson's very own budget line and that's the only reason. common sense would dictate that gibson would intentionally hold back on epiphone's quality otherwise there'd be no incentive for people to pay the extra money for a gibson (this is why the epiphone elitist line was discontinued!)
but there are some great copies out there that are just as good quality as any gibson, many of which are a fair bit cheaper.
Blompcube 2 months ago 7
Ok so what im seeing is that the Eppiphones are good for the price, but you get what you pay for, you pay $300 for a guitar youre gonna get a guitar worth $300. You pay $1200 dollars on a guitar youre gonna get a guitar worth $1200. The pickups will be hotter and the overall craftsmanship will be better. Gibson owns Epiphone, they make CHEAPER COPY MODELS tyey are Gibsons little brother. Gibsons are U.S.A made while most Epiphones are Chinese. If you just look at the obvious, ull c what u got.
timpettey13 2 months ago
OddTimeMan 2 months ago 2
I hate how idiots bag on Gibson. For the guys that actually do this for a living, they usually get Gibson's. Why? Because they love what they do and the price on the guitar is worth it cause that's their life style of course it's worth a couple grand if that's what you use to make your living. Epiphone isn't bad at all but getting a Gibson is awesome to if you love music that much price shouldn't matter.

To the idiots that keep saying stupid shit like Epiphones are good for the money and other dumb shit. Epiphones are way under priced period thats straight from the usa consumer report. Take a $500 Epi if that same guitar was crafted here usa its $1,000.
stratdem 3 months ago
Release the very first Electric solid body guitar back in 1931. So Gibson fan boys everytime you pick up your over rated and over priced Gibson electric guitar you can thank Epiphone. Epiphone has more class in one tuning peg than Gibson is as a whole.
stratdem 3 months ago
Epiphone guitars are top quality crafted and very classy and classic. Epiphone has more classic history behind them than gibson ever did or will gibson not even close to Epiphone. Heres just a start. Epiphone is the first guitar company to invent and
stratdem 3 months ago
Gotho then your fucking IQ IS O because these guitarist play Epiphone les pauls and sg 's because there pro top quality guitars and they also have class. Les paul himself was with Epiphone from tha Early 1920's until his death in 2009. Now go away.
stratdem 3 months ago
So Zakk wylde - Slash -joe bonamassa - Alex lifeson - john lee hooker and much more are 13 year kids Because every one of them play Epiphone les pauls. And lets not for get the man himself. Dude dont be a moron and grow up. Think befor you open your mouth
stratdem 3 months ago
@stratdem ya the play epi's a bit, but compared to how much they play gibson's, its almost nothing. so basically ur implying that they use epi's more then they use gibsons.... which anyone with an IQ of over 10 would now is total b.s. think b4 u open ur mouth. and wtf r u talking about??? almost NO pro guitarist thinks epi's r overall better the gibsons. gibson owns epiphone, and they se epi's as the "economy" version of the gibson. they dont make their epi's better then their actual gibsons
gothomus0 3 months ago 3
Gotho i have been 38 years and did my fisrt pro gig at 17. The bottom is more and more pro guitarist arnt buying the bullshit that Gibson is superior over todays Epiphones. There was a time but no more. Get use to it.
stratdem 3 months ago
holy shit is anyone here an experienced guitar player? its obvious that gibsons or waaay better than epi's. the wood, pickups, actual crafting, it is INDESPUTABLE that gibsons are superior. in terms of overall sound and feel 99 out of 100 times the gibson is superior. anyone who disagrees is just in denual cuz they cant afford a gibson and r trying to justify it. if ur good at guitar and over the age of 18, u know what i mean. ur all just whiny little 13 year olds
gothomus0 3 months ago 2
@gothomus0 yep, epis are pretty good guitars for the money, but gibsons are better quality, that's why they cost more - remember, gibson owns epiphone, it's not like they are competing against each other or anything. think of epiphone as gibson's very own budget line, because that's exactly what they are. thinking rationally, no company is going to make their cheaper products better than their more expensive ones. i don't know why so few people on youtube can grasp this simple concept, tbh...
Blompcube 3 months ago
@Blompcube ya ik. its insane
gothomus0 3 months ago

Goth vastly higher quality? Save it my friend its total bullshit. And i do mean total bullshit.
stratdem 3 months ago

Now check Gibsons.
stratdem 3 months ago
Rcthales Gibson MUCH better sounding? Are you hearing the same thing i am? You must not be. Gibson MUCH better? NOT EVEN CLOSE. i suggest you check out the specs on the humbuckers that are in the EPI and then the Gibson. You are going to be surprised.

The luthier in new jersey has worked on Eddie van halen-jimmy page - pete townsends guitars in the past. He also very much agreed that Epiphone guitars are very under priced and some of the best made in the world. Like i said Ibanez? No way.
stratdem 3 months ago
That very guitar if purchase here in the usa would cost you $800 to $850. how i know this. I have taken a few of my EPI guitars to a top luthier in new jersey and he told me so. There isnt a Ibanez on the planet crafted better than Epiphone. Jem eaither.
stratdem 3 months ago
Skinny 998 USA Consumer report has stated that todays Epiphone guitars are some of the very best crafted guitars in the world. Epiphone guitars are the most under priced guitars in the world. For a example if you buy a $400 Epiphone guitar

A recent USA Consumer Report stated That the Gibson Authorized Epiphone sg's and lp's are some of the best crafted guitars in the world at any price. Theres only 2 guitar companys in the world that make endorsed Lp's and sg's they are Gibson and Epiphone.

Epiphone, Gibson... In the end it all comes down to how you play the damn things. If you're playing crap, the sound will be crap.

My Epiphone Les Paul Standard is amazing - you can find a good Epiphone if you look hard.
lovehandle01 4 months ago
Why that's impossible?!? You have Walsh's tone with an Epiphone?!? But Epi's are such inferior guitars since they don't cost $3000 (but made the same way by the same company). Can you smell the sarcasm? LOL
Good comparison.

@Freebird1877 My Gibson LP is nice but it doesn't blow me away as the pricetag suggests it should. I actually like my $600 Korean-made Dean Cadillac better. It feels/plays/sounds/looks like it cost thousands.

epiphone just copies guitars.... its kind of sad gibson for life.

@Noliferune Well Gibson builds the Epiphone line of guitars, so Gibson is "copying" themself.

More depth of tone in the Gibson, especially in the lower register. Epi is very good - Gibson is superior.
