An 'M' on the forehead has nothing to do with the Maine Coon breed, but instead is found on every tabby patterened cat, regardless of the breed. I wish they had left this remark out of an otherwise very interesting video of the Maine Coons.
i adopted a homeless main coon in bad shape almost hairless tail skin disorder from fleas or nates but he's a beautiful cat. im taking him to the vet tommorow. i've been feeding him bought him a bed cat litter with box. and he's very attached to me! i've owned lots of cats and never had a cat with such an attachement to me. very unique!

My brown tabby Maine Coon insists on taking my pillow at night, and hops up behind me, puts her paws on my shoulders and meows in my ear for attention when I'm at my desk writing. She needs grooming EVERY DAY, despite what they say. The first time our new vet saw her, he said "OMG, what a beautiful cat!" She's 12 now, same age as my equally loving Somali - I don't know what I'm going to do when my girls leave me. I'll be an abject mess.
i have a cat that must be part Maine coon, he is 20 lbs now and when he was 6 months old weighed 10 lbs ! He is 2 1/2 years old now but doesnt have the long hair and when he stands on back legs is four feet + tall i have photo of him at my 4 ft. chain link and his head is even with it and the neck isnt even stretched out at all. his markings are more like that Scottish Wild Cat. Ilive in Boston....
my maine coon brings me so much love and joy :) and hes so random and crazy! in the mornings he likes to pull the blankets off my face and meow at my face until i pay attention
I've been around pets in general all my life, and it's just tearing me apart that this apartment doesn't allow pets of any kind. We plan to move to another apartment somewhere else soon and I was looking up breeds of cats and dogs.. I think we may end up getting a Maine Coon. :)
I've got a Maine coon called Tia and she is really affectionate! Although she've only been living with me for one year she is really long but I like that and who said that maine coons hate being carried I carry my main coon a lot she seems to trust me.
He's very friendly, shy, patient, tolerant, likes to cuddle, doesn't mind being licked by dogs, loves being picked up and laying over peoples shoulders and loves to make friends, and bathe every animal he sees.
He doesn't even kill rats :/ he just plays with them.

These are the greatest cats. Great around family but also good for home protection. Highly recomended. Its not one of these lazy, pathetic cats that cruise round these days. However they will attack other animals so be warned

I have an 8 year old Maine coon that we call "Mullet" and sometimes "Moo Moo". He's orange and huge and sooo sweet! He prefers to be the only cat of the house, but when introduce him to other cats he lets them eat before him and treats them kindly. They will be your best friend for life, and they're quite intelligent too!
I. had a Maine coon cat for 11 1/2 years; he was by far one of the most amazing people i've ever met. He was not into fighting and he seemed very happy. He was cool around peole and never ran away. ommorrow, Sept 20, will be the 5 year since he passed. It was like losing a child.

I have one of these called Boots and she is so lazy. I love her loads. She rolls over after a while of stroking, asking you to tickle her tummy. Lets just say its a good thing I know my cat so well and knows she does this, because the moment you do she plays with your hand. With her claws. XD
My very first pet was a big, fat, orange Maine Coon named Cocoa that we got when I was only a few years old. I have never had a cat as gentle and patient as he was (:. Like, he let toddler-me sit on his back and try to "ride him" without even changing his expression (before my parents saw me lol xP). Never hissed or scratched no matter what baby-me put him through and had this tiniest little baby mew despite his age and giant body.
I just got two maine coon cats. And they have extra toes which is apparently common among this bred. It helps my crazy cats climb up my door. XD i love my babies smoke and cloud. :D

@ILE924 You're right. It's actually a common pattern for any tabby cat, no matter what the breed. It drives me nuts whenever people think my cat is a Maine Coon just because she has that M...she's not even close to being one.
When I first moved to Maine from Texas, I went out one night to call our dog in and our neighbor's maine coon happened to be walking up the driveway. At first i thought it was my dog because of it's size, but when he came into the light I thought it was a bobcat and ran into the house screaming.
The next day our neighbor visited and let me know that it was his maine coon cat that had its tail run over by a car (hence no tail). The cat is very shy around people, but he's bffs with our dog now.

@suzib777 One reason more for adopting non - breeded, not specific race cats. Often cats you adopt from the street are healthy because of that, once you vaccinate them and cure them from parasites

Am not even sure she's a pure-breed but she's a little giant. Seems it's like the biggest trait about the breed. Sometimes are well...over-bred and might end up quite different from the stereotype of the breed.
I have always had a Maine coon cat for my fifteen years in life and they are huge and great hunters! but when they want to go out side they get very chatty and it get annoying specialy at 12 o clock in the MORNING!

umm! no, mr announcer guy, the M is standard for ALL tabby coats. i have a maine coon male, and a common tabby female, they BOTH have the M on their forehead. I do love my maine coon male cat though, he's got plenty of attitude. I love that.

Maine Coons are known to carry the feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) disease.
Make sure that HCM is guaranteed bred out of them.

I agree, the HCM is what killed my MC. I didn't know this breed was prone to this until my beloved MC had to be put to sleep because of this.

@suzib777 One reason more for adopting non - breeded, not specific race cats. Often cats you adopt from the street are healthy because of that, once you vaccinate them and cure them from parasites

I have a cat witch i didn't know that it is maine coon.......few days ago i went to vet and she asked me is he maine coon....and i was like WHAT?!When i went back home i searched for orange maine coon and i saw cats just like him....than i found this vid on youtube and i heard about famous ''M''.I checked his forehead and there it was.....M.....wow i still can't belive that i have like second famuos bride in the world.....i mean my Leon is maine coon.....yaaaaaaaay....i ♥ him....:)

I just found a little abandoned kitten yesterday, turns out after a visit to the vet and to the nearest pet shop that's shes a Maine Coon. She's only 12weeks and well, she's massive lol
Am not even sure she's a pure-breed but she's a little giant. Seems it's like the biggest trait about the breed. Sometimes are well...over-bred and might end up quite different from the stereotype of the breed.

I have always had a Maine coon cat for my fifteen years in life and they are huge and great hunters! but when they want to go out side they get very chatty and it get annoying specialy at 12 o clock in the MORNING!

umm! no, mr announcer guy, the M is standard for ALL tabby coats. i have a maine coon male, and a common tabby female, they BOTH have the M on their forehead. I do love my maine coon male cat though, he's got plenty of attitude. I love that.
