Olivia is not really there, she is mind melding with another cortexiphan child, her close friend from the day care trials; they have a symbiotic relationship so she feels what he feels when she is sleeping. They are trying to locate him and stop him becasue his emotions of depression and worthlessness are so out of control people around him are committing suicide.
