Andrea sent me your link because I was talking about sending my milk to my surrobaby once I give birth! Thank you for this video! You are awesome!! I have a question..but I'll sent u a msg through your inbox! :)
Yes, I am... I do not ever want to give Deacon formula... personal choice... so for at least a year... although lately its getting tough because he is so big and he wants to look at something aside from my arm pit. So worst case scenario I pump for his daytime feedings. He will not eat from a bottle at night though (-: Thank goodness!!!
aww i just went on the site and they are not accepting apllications right now :( n e whho GOD bless you its a wonderful thing youre doing. im sure it gives you a wonderful feeling :)
wow..thats awesome. how many times a day do u pump? i left a comment on your weight loss vid bcuz i am bfing too but not losing much weight...u must be pumping out 1500 calories a day!..lol..i can usually only get about 5-6 oz out at a time when i pump on one side. im not real sure how much cyrus eats at a time since he still wont take breast milk from a bottle..hes 9 wks..but im sure im no where near where your at...your'e doing a great thing!! im gonna look into doing it myself..thanks
I know this is not related to donating milk but did u have any trouble getting Deacon to take breast milk from a bottle? What type of bottle do u use? How did u get him to take a bottle? Cyrus is 10 wks tomorrow and he will not take a bottle for anyone...in a way I'm happy but I can never leave him w his daddy or gma and eventually I will be going back to work... Thanks
Yes... he will only eat from the super soft nipples... like the Medla or Dr. Browns ones. Otherwise he will NOT take a bottle! He also will not take a pacifier. My Lac. consultant told me to have my husband give him the first couple... while I am OUT of the house... the baby knows when you're there so they wont take anything but you... but when you're not an option they will take the bottle.
1. If one decides to breast feed baby and their milk does not come in immediately what happens at the hospital does the hosp. give the baby a bottle?
2. If you pump does all the milk have to be frozen or can you put some in the frig if you are going to be using it when you go out ( instead of breast feeding in the public)
3. Would you recc. purchasing some formula just in case you cant feed the baby by the breast once you get the child home?
deff...have formula incase your milk isnt enough at home, i breastfed for a week and she wasnt getting enough, not gaining weight and crying non stop, i had to start formula in the middle of the night, and i then did 1/2 formula 1/2 breastmilk and eventually went to all formula
Wow, really? I breastfed for a month, I could of kept on going, I started leaking more after I stopped but I had already had a drink, So decided to just stop. He's on formula only now. he's only a month a about a week and for some reason he doesnt sleep and he's always crying, so now I put a little bit of rice cereal in his milk and it works, he sleeps more and hes not as fussy as he was before. he was also premature he was 5 pounds 9 ounces and now he is 8 pounds.
I vowed to never give Deacon formula... personal choice. I bought the pump 2 months before even having him... $350!
I think and what I have been told is that supplementing with formula ruins your milk supply. (baby doesn't need to nurse, so your supply drops!) So I never bought or kept formula in the house.
Deacon was born on a Tuesday and my milk didn't *start* coming in until Friday. They nurse and get colostrum in the beginning. The more they nurse, the more you produce... its ALL supply and demand! In fact when I went back to work my supply sky rocketed because of pumping... if for some reason you're not producing enough you can pump... by doing so you're upping you demand which in turn increases your supply.
Yes... you can put expressed milk in the fridge for up to a week... then you can warm it up from there. Freshly pumped milk can sit up for I think up to 10 hours! Although I never let it go past 3. I find it MUCH easier to bring a bottle with us when we go out so I just pump before and were set for a while.
Let me know if you have anymore questions... hospitals have lactation consultants and they help A LOT! I had to call one yesterday because I got food poisoning and was afraid to nurse
LOL! Same thing here... I was soooo worried that I wouldn't be able to breastfeed Deacon... but well, I'm able to feed him plus who knows how many babies (-:
To ALB4EVER05-----It is EXTRA breastmilk that Jeni is donating to the Milk Bank!!! She is exclusively breastfeeding her son!! She has LOTS of milk! Plenty for Deacon! So--she is donating to other mothers who maybe WANTED to breastfeed their babies--but were unable to!!
way to go hunny ... how incredible ... you are doing a wonderful thing by donating all that milk .. i am still amazed at how much milk you produce .. its soo much ... way to go .. you rock
Hello! I had a question, I want to donate as well but dont know if I make enough to donate... How did you know you made enough to donate? I have a milk bank in the city I live in, and love to donate. Great vid by the way!!
ppl used nuesing maids. When rich ppl would have a baby, they would hire a nurse maid to feed their baby. It was completely normal. We drink cows milk, thats not nasty.... and the process they use for cows milk is the same for breast milk...
I totally agree... but check out the sites... you may change your mind. I still nurse/give Deacon only my milk but for other babies in the NICU and whatnot... well, it helps them.
Best of luck with your certification! Since you probably know a ton about breast milk do you know if the nutritional content changes when it's expressed and fed by a bottle? Just curious as my son gets fed four times a day with a bottle of expressed milk... Thank you!
This is SUCH an amazing gift your giving to babies in need, Im sure thats its extremely appreciated. Great job. It's awesome to know that there's strong women out there going out of there way to do this for others!!!
As soon as I become certified, I completely plan on encouraging exclusive breastfeeding to mothers, the benefits are astronomical.

M-F 5 times... once in the AM, 3X at work and once before going to bed at night.
You're making a lot if you're getting that much on one side! During the day I get about 10 total from both sides.
