But fortunately for the dog, he died the same night and we buried him next day so to avoid bacteria spreading and otehr things.
I remember one Greek chap who said to me once when we saw a dog who was suffering -probably by too many fleas:"let's put an end to his suffer, let's do to him euthanasia, let's.....give him some broken glass to eat"!!!!!!!#####
I mean ignorance is a bliss but this goes beyond any acceptable level.
I am wondering what they would feel if someone give to them some broken glass to eat.
Could please someone who DOESN'T have an opinion about this matter and he/she denies the obvious not to post in here;
I mean....anyone who denies that the Sun rises from the East and sets at the West is more stupid that the dummer Human ever in the History of Human Kind.
ZA56AA - You must not get upset about this, as YOU and WE all know the truth. I am sure deep down these greeks who pretend to be "in denial" do know what is happening, I just wish they would help by making a stand against the govt. Yes we know of the crushed glass hidden in food it is terrible and there is no antidote which can sometimes help a poisoned dog.The pharmacies carry these antidote syringes in their stores as well as the poison!!!!!!
The thing is that in pharmacy stores and at the stores who sell garden and tools for the farmers, they also sell poison for the elimination of rats and mouses.
Now this poison is being used by those criminals to poison the dogs and strays. I mean -to my knowledge-there isn't any specific poison in Greece which is made for strays of course. So they use poison for rats and mouses. And broken glass.
@ZA56AA thats only the warm up of our planets surfaces...something from space heat up ground, invisible but true.Fish osnt like the warm up water temp, but i think its magnetic field fails for birds...maybe earth warm up by inside too...micro-wave effect like...for it isnt pollution
But is it a coincidence that none of you have ever said a word about the issue yet?
What are you trying to deny? That many humanoids in Greece do poison the dogs and cats-strays-with broken glasses? Are you even aware of the pain of the animal?Have you ever seen an animal suffer because of this?
Most of the times people in Greece just can't understand that lovely puppies become big dogs with needs after a few months and when they realize that, they deport the dog out of the house, that's a death sentence for the dog although the law is clear about this.
Hence altering social awareness is a plus only via social media like Internet and many others.
Showing videos on the Internet like this one, mobilizing individuals and groups of animals' protection in Greece and abroad. Mass Media in Greece are in favor of animals' protection in general.
Suing local governments and Mayors for violation of duty by negligence.
Report those incidents to the EU offices such as European Committee of the regions even a lawsuit in EU court against Greek State - i repeat against Greek State not against Greece-in Greece those two are many times two different things.
I know Britons from first hand-they are logical people. They have sense of what is right and what is wrong but when it goes to the protection of their own interests, they are acting foolishly and arrogantly.
They need to return the marbles and they will be obligated to do it sooner or later.
Enough with this joke with the half of the statue is being exposed in Athens and the otehr half in rainy Great Brittania!
What "Elgin" marbles? That Briton sc#m was a common thief! And yes his acts represent the vast majoriy because if they were different , they would simply return those marbles back.
Greek laws are there and strict (law 3170/2003) as well as we have to mention there is a thought by animal friends lobby in Greece a stricter protection of all animals to get in to the Greek constitution itself when some articles will be overvalued in 2013-14.
Yes 3170/2003 is "adequate" but the authorities is so apathetic, they never bother to prosecute or even investigate the crimes, a good example being the dog hanger in Kardamena, we, even me, know his name but the mayor of Kos hasnt bothered to even get him in for questioning. What does that tell you - someone mentioned earlier on about the greek "mafia"!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have never started a boycott, I already said, that I think that would be good as a threat to the govt but in reality would cause more hardship to animals and decent greeks.
How can I take someone to court, when the ones in Kos have failed, all I managed to achieve was a letter printed in the local Kos newspaper reminding readers that the bastard is still going around uncharged 10 months later (Feb 2009) and no doubt hanging more redundant hunting dogs.
for to take someone to the court you go to a police departement, with your laywer if you want and then issue a law suit against him. As for lord Elgin, i just used it to show to you that you cannot use one persons actions to be representative of the whole nation, unless you want us to call all of the british people common thieves
We should never expect from all Third-World Mayors and so-called Greek local Governments with suspicions of connections with the Greek Underworld that they will do something.
But they are part of the problem in fact they are the ones who are creating this. I have plenty of information that proves there are many EU funding Programs only for the finance of collection and good taking care of strays.
It's individuals who will make the difference not mayors.
Mayors have more "important" things to think off.....like the bribery they are going get from cafeterias managers or the contractors of roads and e.t.c.
Those scums who are wearing the black t-shirts and trousers in Crete are the shame of Greece and Europe if not of the Human Kind. I have seen those humanoids to abuse their own dogs!! The dogs who suppose they belong to them and they abuse them by bit feeding them and let them starve to death!
Again: 5 dogs killed brutally in Citia-Crete the last month. Three dogs were poisoned in the Industrial area of Iraklion, 2 dogs were hanged to death in Malia-Crete-a tourist resort and numerous other cases of poisoning.
It's a shame of our Civilization-our Hellenic Civilization-not the one of the Mafia in Crete and elsewhere!
If you google "Maria Daines website" you will see she has recently written a song dedicated to the animals of Greece "Greek Tragedy", she has offered anyone to download it and burn it to CD.
Well done ZA56AA!!! You show exactly your level. I just wanted all the people to see this, thank you very much and the animals thank you too for being such a racist (your comment about the villages) Its very funny, because if you learned at school, all the people at villages love the animals since they depend on them for many reasons. Obviously, your education stopped before going to school
How can you criticise ZA56AA for being honest and standing up for the animals, unlike so many "in denial" greek people? This abuse goes on ALL OVER Greece and the villages are probably worst of all for poisoning because of the ignorant attitude that cats and dogs are vermin. Obviously there are some exceptions.
At least he doesnt make stupid comments about Στρούγκα girls.
Thank goodness for people like ZA56AA.
By the way, do the villagers also love donkeys?????
Can you please translate in english ZA56AA exact words, so that world will know the type of people that are asking to boycot Greece, or should i do it myself?
Does that really matter as we are getting away from the whole point, which is the barbaric treatment of animals by a country once known as the "cradle of civilisation",but now holds the record for the worst animal abuse, per capita, in the EU. I am not happy about a boycott anyway because I think is the present recession this will make things worse for the animals and for any decent animal loving greek people.Pressure is needed on your apathetic and arrogant govt. They still havent learned from
Yes of course it matters. isnt a barbaric treatment as well "to let the army invade your fucking villages vilages and kill all the people" that ZA56AA mentioned? Isnt he a racist when he seperates people to villagers and city inhabitants? And what about you, that you defend people like him?
You are avoiding my chalenge to translate. You ALL are such a cow after all, hiding behind your nick names.
.... the removal of approximately 15,000 strays prior to the athens 2004 olympics when there was public outcry both by the minority in greece and the rest of the world. Your govt is so foolish and shortsighted, Greece could be one of the most beautiful countries in the world if it were not for this very very dark side.
I live in the U.K. and have been in Greece during the start of the poisoning season. I work closely with various animal groups in Greece and in U.K. and I have many decent Greek friends who hate what is going on in Greece. Daily we receive emails, phone calls, photos from distressed tourists. Please open your eyes and do something to help. We pour thousands of euros into Greece when our own animals need help as well but they are safe in decent shelters unlike the dimos run ones in Greece
Yes, i was expecting that, we had pleny of you working here in the olympics. So, what do you say? We have a person that lives in England and thinks he / she can talk about the situation here in Greece.
Normally you should by ashamed to even be around on the internet preaching about boycotting Greece, the same moment you still have illegally under your possesion the marbles of the Parthenon, stolen by this english chicken Elgin. You dont even have the right to talk about Greece.
I'd rather believe the greek friends I have living amongst this barbarity than the words from someone like you typical "in denial". As far as those marbles are concerned,I couldnt give a damn, they are of no importance to me, I would willing send them back to you, afterall they are only a few mostly damaged artifacts.Me having shame about them is a joke, having shame for drunken british idiot tourists, yes, but not for some stupid marbles. Sorry, but you need to get your priorities straight.
So if one persons actions, like Elgins, cannot characterize a whole nation, how do you even dare to talk about Greece, as if the whole greek popoulation has sadistic manners against animals? You and ZA should really wash your mouths
I am sorry, but as an animal lover, to me that is almost amusing, to compare Elgin stealing your marbles, with mass murdering of cats and dogs. I am really busy now and dont have time for any more comments.
Second of all you failed to see the post that the other with the name:"internet on the go 7 ..craps!" made to me-really insulting. Now from his phrases i realize that this scum is from Crete. Sometimes Crete's rural areas are governed by mafia-like Colombia.
And yes if we were living in Latin America, Army would have invaded those Mafia villages who are the shame of Greece.
ZA56AA, im sure you were talking to me, i have this in my inbox: "ZA56AA has replied to your comment : Χρειάστηκε να κάνω Log in για να ασχοληθώ με την πάρτι σου.Βρε ΜΑΛΑΚΑ!!! "
1) First you should apologise to me.
2) Second, wash your mouth first and then talk about Crete. If you had guts, you should go talk them in person.Dont worry, nothing will happen to you and no need for the army to invade Crete: im sure they will die laughing at you!
Reading through your previous comments the last months, there are no words to describe the naive comments you have made to the director of the videos so far.
She doesn't have any right to criticize Greece for animal abuse because.............Britons (British Museum in other words) haven't returned the marbles yet???!!!!!!!!!!!!?!???!!!####
Wow!! Where all of you have you been hiding all this time???!!?!?!#####
I read some of your past comments you made to the director of the videos and you said to her that she doesn't have the right to criticize Greece for animals abuse...because Britons (British Museum in reality) haven't returned the marbles back to their birthplace yet;???!?!?!?!?!?#####
Wow!!! Where have you all been hiding all this time?!!###
Sorry, i forgot, i know that you are from the "Fiji". But then why do you care for to restore the balance between decent citizens and criminals? Is Fiji realted to Crete?
You know that's the bad thing about Internet, all of a sudden we become one, any kind of people are mixing together and here we are now, reading your comments.
Now you insist on Fiji Islands. Fiji Islands is just a dream place, it surely does not mean that this is my place-you can choose which place you are going put on the box at the "page set-up".

ZA56AA , thanks for your support. It is a very sad and difficult situation, as to boycott a country is good as a threat to a government, but in reality, it could well have the adverse affect on the animals and decent greek people. I have just uploaded another horrific slideshow about 5 dogs hanged in Sitia Crete. The person resposible for the many hangings (more than the 9 officially reported in Kardamena) has still not been prosecuted, so I hope this does not happen in Crete this time.
'hateanimalabuse' I live here in Greece and the situation with animals here is very disheartening. It is not only the animals that suffer such terrible deaths, it is also the ones that survive in the streets. I have loads of pictures ,should you need any to post I will be more than happy to provide you. Just today I fed more than15 cats most of which are in terrible condition. (on the island of Kos) Look up 'animal abuse in Kos-Greece'
For the people that believe this is an animal cruelty page .... take a look on how easy it is for your love of animals to be used as hate for people , you are been used in the most horrible way to promote hate , don't play their game
I understand some animals can be a pest if there is way to many... But the crushed glass in food? That's just sick and I wouldn't wish a painful deserved/undeserved death like that on anyone or thing. Surely if they MUST do it, there are better ways without making the poor things suffer..
The problem is lack of education, ie. that the greeks are not interested in strict neutering programs and as a consequence end up with many unwanted litters of kittens and puppies. Also, they do not believe in humane euthanasia, so prefer to use poison/crushed glass. These animals are not pests, they didnt ask to be born and apart from strays, many owned pets fall victim to the poisoned bait because they cannot distinguish what is safe to eat if they see it put out on the streets.
HollyHimeko........... the ONLY reason there are so many strays in Greece is because people don't sterilise their dogs, but randomnly abandoned unwanted litters of puppies..... or they plan to go on holiday and the dog becomes a 'burden' and so is dumped .... or a puppy grows out of its cutie stage and the novelty wears off, thus out they end up abandoned....and hunters treat hunting dogs as 'disposable tools'.... shameful, inhumane, uncivilised....
See 'Animal abuse in Greece' & 'Animal abuse in Kos' videos.Greek govt are also breaking laws by allowing poisoning of 1000s of cats&dogs at the end of tourist season. This is all over Greece& Islands.I beg you all, think twice about visiting a country with barbaric&uncivilised attitudes towards animals.Nothing will change until they see decline in tourist euros!Help these defenseless animals & sign the petition on GreekAnimalRescue site&donate if you can to 1 of the charities out there
These people dedicated to the destruction of animals among the most beautiful in nature have completely failed their life.

FotisMylonas 2 years ago
You know that's the bad thing about Internet, all of a sudden we become one, any kind of people are mixing together and here we are now, reading your comments.
Now you insist on Fiji Islands. Fiji Islands is just a dream place, it surely does not mean that this is my place-you can choose which place you are going put on the box at the "page set-up".
Didn't you know this;

I could only hope my support should be enough but it isn't.

I am going say something. I am Greek and yes that's a very big shame-one of many of the country.
The Greeks will never change politics towards almost anything unless Greece is being hit at three main factors:
1) Tourism
2) European Funding which supports the Budget at the greatest extent.
3) Agricultural products.
If i was a foreigner i would embargo those three heavily. And Greece would even apologize for this afterwards.

A "greek" from the Fiji ??
FotisMylonas 2 years ago
Why is it surprising a Greek living in Fiji?
I have found that all Greeks I know who have lived away from Greece are the most sympathetic and know exactly what is going on in their own country.

I understand some animals can be a pest if there is way to many... But the crushed glass in food? That's just sick and I wouldn't wish a painful deserved/undeserved death like that on anyone or thing. Surely if they MUST do it, there are better ways without making the poor things suffer..
HollyHimeko 3 years ago
The problem is lack of education, ie. that the greeks are not interested in strict neutering programs and as a consequence end up with many unwanted litters of kittens and puppies. Also, they do not believe in humane euthanasia, so prefer to use poison/crushed glass. These animals are not pests, they didnt ask to be born and apart from strays, many owned pets fall victim to the poisoned bait because they cannot distinguish what is safe to eat if they see it put out on the streets.
hateanimalabuse 3 years ago
