  • I'm fairly new to mountain biking and i've just got a specialized bike with something like 80 mm of travel, will that be ok for extreme downhill?

  • @DoomandDispair No chance mate. You would need at least 6 inch travel but even that isn't really enough for this track.

  • @kirstin181101 okay, what kind of shocks would you recommend?

    Cheers.

  • @DoomandDispair Any of the main brands are good. I run Fox 40's but they are very expensive and have 8 inch travel but they came on my bike. You best bet would be to buy a proper Freeride or Downhill bike, depending on what your going to use it for? However, freeride or DH bikes are not for going uphill as they are heavier but you can get a good all mountain bike with 5 or 6 inch travel. Only thing is you really need 8 inch travel on this type of track!

  • @kirstin181101 ok thanks for the advice, I'm about to buy some marzocchi 44's, they have got 140mm so that will be perfect for what i want, thanks you so much mate.

  • @DoomandDispair No probs.

  • Alright bud - just wondering, what tips would you give to someone who is roadie... wanting to give this specific track a go in fort william? Is it do-able on the first go (of course not in 6 mins - what time would you give). Do they have like basic tracks and then pro ones?

  • @zen Hi mate, I know guys that have done downhill for years and the first time they come up here they have never experienced anything like Fort Bill. The video does it no justice, its brutal. Their is a Red run which starts at the top gondola station also but its less brutal and their are some videos on youtube. If you really want to do this practice on the red first and then try this. You can stop anytime you want and don't worry about the time you take.Once you get to know it its awesome.

  • well done mate i tried and tried to get a full run in but just had to stop the effort needed is just soo imense lol

  • @gizmogunner Ye, its brutal mate. Took me ages to get up to the fitness required.

  • @kirstin181101 it gets to ya wrists mostly think the furthist id made it with out stopping is to the begining of the wooded section just had to stop a rest ma wrists lol i did it on a trek session 8.8 hire bike (my bike wasnt utpo the challenge)

  • DUDE U KIKE A ALIEN OR SUTIN

  • @RaggiBoy1 No dude, just mad for biking!

  • You are the man!

  • @micagas Cheers mate, Its a great DH track!

  • In some parts, you seem to be going really fast for the terrain...after you got stopped by that minor mistake...

  • @Oshawott5 The track gets very fast and the part you are talking about is called 'the motorway'.

  • Awesome

  • Hi, was this shot at normal pace, or has the video been sped up a touch?

    Well done either way

  • @tokolosh80 No, it's normal pace, the clip hasn't been altered at all. Why?

  • Comment removed

  • @rhysalexanderstones Cheer dude.

  • couldnt have picked a better song : D very nice vid... shit looks as tiring as hell tho :P

  • Me and my mates are going up here in august it'll be my first time down this track and i've been asking my other friends who have done it what the best way to approach it is, but some say if you go fast it is easier and others say take it easy. Any tips ?

  • @MrRoss661 If its your first time mate I would try and learn a few lines first as if you come off fast its going to hurt. Fort Bill takes no prisoners and to be honest until you ride it its hard to explain how ruff it is. I met a few guys a few weeks ago who were up for a week and after day one they couldn't believe how bad it was as the videos do it no justice. It is an awesome place to ride though and once you get used to it you will see that speed is your friend, just not if you don't know it

  • @kirstin181101 thanks mate :)

  • am going to ride this track with a proper dh bike in a couple of weeks - can't wait!! this video is dead useful to get familiar-ish with the track before i go - cheers!! soundtrack is awesome too..as is the riding! if you're there on aug 3 let me know - i could do with a hand!

  • @tgreen192 Cheers mate, its an awesome track, but the video doesn't do it justice as to how bad it is. Once you have been leave another comment and let me know how it goes. What looks a small drop is huge. I'll be on holiday on the 3rd so have fun but stay safe!

  • awesome vid. big respect. ur a very handy rider.

  • This is the first video I've ever watched on YouTube where the music has kept me watching when I was bored of the video, as oppose to the other way round, sick vid none the less though!

  • A total numpty lives 45 miles from Fort William.

  • I live about 45 miles from fort William

  • F u c k i n g BRILLIANT VIDEO and just the right audio track in the back ground. Welcome keep up the good work!!

  • looking forwards to the 4X more tbh...

  • Thanks for vid. Ski'd there when it first opened. That's my kind of downhill built for speed! Cheers

  • i would have fallen of many times :P

  • This track was as boring as the song

Fuck doing that for a sport soooo fucking dull

  • @ThSniperFail each to their own I guess. Strange why you feel the need to comment negatively. Do you have issues?

  • Would love to do this, maybe 1 day :P

  • The council wud wanna get that road fixed quick

  • Fantastic vid love just like all of the rest =P

  • Nice one m8 I wish I could go down that lol wood be so much fun

  • ride goes on forever

  • I know nothing about bike riding so my opinion doesn't count for much, that was a fantastic ride which ended with me preying you didn't fall off. First class viewing loved it

  • What bike are u riding?

  • where was the camera attached to? you don't seem to move your head. awsome video.

  • @buggalugs2010 Its attached to the side of my helmet mate. Just an illusion as its fixed very securely so it appears it doesn't move but it does with the helmet, if you know what I mean.

  • This was epic, i remember when I went with my school to see this back in 04 I think, lol xD

  • Man you must of done that run loads of times...your lines are perfect!Great riding, great vid... Keep it up!

  • What camera did you use for this? The footage is amazing

  • @LSPENCER41 GoPro HD 1080p

  • Your thighs and hands must have killed!

  • If you think this is good go on pinkbike and watch danny hart doing it in bds practice! The lad is amazing! I miss riding downhill so much! :(

  • can you tell me what bike this is please?

    Cheers.

  • @dirtyarris Trek Session 88

  • @kirstin181101 cheers mate

  • Damn that was awesome...you wer,nt exactly going slow

  • awesome

  • Well done on surviving and also finding decent weather!!

  • Nice video !

  • Amazing! 4:41 i thought was a fat woman in red hahah!

  • Incredible! I'm worn out just watching it! Thanks for taking the time to post it mate, absolutely brilliant!

  • Crazy vid n crazy time. Stuck in the mud at 5:18 tho hey, crackin

  • That's one of the coolest things I've ever seen on You Tube. This place is like the Nurburgring of mountain biking. Were any bits of the vid speeded up at all? Looked like a motor bike at one point! I'd last 30 seconds on my hybrid. Probably take on that banked corner at the beginning and end up in the heather....

  • @Nicollers1975 Its real time mate, not speeded up at all. The pro's come down there in 4 mins 40 sec. Awesome!

  • the Wonders of Gravity

  • £5k bike? For the wealthy? Great video though.

  • @Cyberwwwizard Got it half price as it was an ex-demo in superb condition.

  • Sick video, sick song. Keep it up buddy. :)

  • Very sikk. Songs shit though

  • Dammit man! That's a strong performance! From you and the bike. Such a harsh course. I'd heard that it was, but images in magazines don't really do it justice. LOL! My back is killing me anyway, but watching you has made me feel better. :¬D

  • Looks fun and painful at the same time...

  • I was up at the UCI world cup a few weeks back, obviously there was new additions which were great to see close up. But i agree the FreeCaster coverage of the track only really shows the top and bottom section. My mate who is just getting into riding really wanted to see the new track with the road gap and new middle section, so thanks a lot for posting this :) It's also good to see how rough that forest section is before the gap jump, you know from a riders perspective, also what bike is it? :)

  • @samfeelsbored Trek Session 88. This track is very rough mate, but the best!

  • @kirstin181101 Ah very nice, the new Trek that Gwin had at the world cup this year was sweet. It really is, shame ive not had a chance to ride it! there is a wee montage of world cup clips i took on my channel check it out if you want :) Good time there as well, destroyed by the end i am guessing?

  • @samfeelsbored Just watched it mate, nice one!

  • @kirstin181101 Cheers man!

  • If I were doing that, all you would hear would be "Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow"...

  • I clicked on this by mistake. I have no interest generally speaking in mountain biking but F*CK ME!!! That's immense riding. You must have balls of steel the size of Canada!!! Total Respect man, total.

  • sick song choice XD

  • Scotland must be the only country that would put an advert on a wallwride

  • 4:34 :O thought you were gonna die tbh

  • song?

  • @abasuita Faithless, We come 1

  • @kirstin181101 cheers mate :)

  • I had a glass of milk when I started watching this, now I have a glass of yoghurt.

  • @yellowfolder see, I really like your comment but for that fact that'd you have butter, not yoghurt. How sad am I??? Sorry. So very sorry.

  • @MusicStudyMan Or cheese, actually. Anything but yoghurt, in fact, unless we're throwing tons of bacteria into the equation. Back to school for me

  • God knows how you stayed on! made my fet tingle hahaha

  • woah trials3d already wow pretty good graphics :P

  • That camera is amazing, its so still for such a bumpy track, good taste in music to ;)

  • Is this Scotland?

  • @dannyk90 yeah south west highlands, beside the town fort william, nice place

  • @dannyk90 Yes, Nevis Range, Fort William, Scotland.

  • @dannyk90 Yep

  • @dannyk90 Yes, at Form William, which sits at the foot of the highest mountain in the UK (Ben Nevis)

  • 2 nobs as per !!great run mate ,and understandble there pro's for a reason

  • Great video, Skilled and nuts all rolled into one, Brilliant !! Glad you got down in one piece, not sure i would haha

    Stay safe

    Stu

  • Nice

  • Now ride it back to the top xD

  • @ZanmaruV2 At the Endurance Downhill race in July I will have to cycle 1/3 of the way up then the 6 hours of riding this crazy track as many times as possible starts when I get to the bottom.

  • That actually gave me a headache to watch, and I never usually get motion sickness!

  • great vid :) wish we had some places like that where i am :(

  • Nice vid. Good quality, and no messing around at the start or finish. I've always wanted to see this full track dont think the T.V coverage of the UCI racing does this track justice. thanks for the upload. :D

  • @glenners08 Cheers mate, this video does the track no justice either as its so physical on the body, its brutal.

  • @kirstin181101 I think you did a pretty good job anyway. Keep up the good work. Get any other stuff you have up on here. :D

  • @glenners08 Loads on here mate, just check my channel. Cheers!

  • This looks so much fun!

  • at the end you picked up some serious speed lol

  • the person who disliked most probably fell doing this.

  • @Viroth100 if that was true there would be hundreds of dislikes then lol

  • Good job, really enjoyed watching that. You wouldn't catch me doing that haha although I wish I could do that! I need a mountain bike first. I stayed a Fort Will, back in 2009, it's a great place and, I too went up Ben Nevis. Fantastic.

  • was going to watch the full vid,,but couldn`t handle the SHIT MUSIC.....

  • @lestheo Turn the music off then!

  • Good going blud!!!

  • Give me a go at that !

  • Sick video your fast

  • You must get to go to some amazing places kirstin181101

  • Not going to lie, I ended up tilting my head round the corners for you :/

  • man that looks well fast. and awesome.

  • How do you make 6 minutes and 42 seconds feel like forever? go downhill biking! Loved this video i really want to do some now :D

  • Fort Williams the best track in the world, why else has it been in the world cup for the past 10 years and now confirmed for the 11th. Fair play to you bro, thats a wicked run down, what bike you on ?

  • @ally69her Trek Session 88 mate

  • I hate the fort William track, its so rough the whole way down, there's hardly any sections without a rock garden! I much prefer a fast smooth, flowing track.

  • @Xbox360customUK Rough but awesome once you know it.

  • sketchy . . . thats the only word for it :)

  • awesome m8, at least the weather was good for once :)

  • What do you ride?

  • Good Shit.

    made front page btw ;)

  • Im pretty sure that DH is not in the commonly known Olympics.... but thanks for the help youtube. downhill for life!!

  • just get a kx250f ^^

  • That was amazing to watch. Properly looks well dangerous though lol. And at first, I'm thinking I can do this, then midway, hmm maybe, then at the end, fuck that shit. I'd go 1/4 the speed you were and STILL manage to cock up tremendously. Great video.

  • THAT is fucking cool, good job, looks a bit of a beast.

  • that is an incredible run! you gain great momentum so fast! keep it up man, i'm more of a jumper than speed but iv'e tried a few times.

  • Ok this video is being shown on the youtube homepage as an advertisement of some form for olympic training..... WHAT!!!!..... Maybe it would be more fitting IF DOWNHILL WAS ACTUALLY AN OLYMPIC SPORT. If anything this says something, this sport has been on the long list of sports that need to be accepted into the olympics for years and it is only a matter of time before it is!!!! Too bad not soon enough, fort bill would have been sick for an olympic race :(

  • @MirkaGFXdesigns Totally agree mate! Cheers

  • @kirstin181101 is dis in canada? cuz if it is i wanna live in canada :D

  • @creamerdude2 This is scotland.

  • @garrymass Cheers mate!

  • @andyman1005 Cheers, the 10ft drop isn't open to the public or even at the SDA/BDS races I think? Its all fenced off.

  • Nice run

the track is looking really bumpy

  • @TheFinnersdude Cheers mate, hows the bike?

  • @marcusman50 Trek Session 88 mate. Cheers!
