I am surprised how many people forget what being young and having fun is all about . This young man will have stories to tell his grandkids . Life is about taking risks and having fun . He could have been sitting around watching youtube vids but instead he was with his freinds having an adventure . I would rather hang with a bunch of nuts then sit on a couch and watch TV .
The scenery in the video is very simular to Eastern Kentucky. Driving through creeks and streams can be common here, just not in a street vehicle. But yep, the smoke is just steam from where water got into the exhaust pipe. I have noticed that you use red rotators on your trucks. Is that legal there in Washington St? In KY tow trucks can only use amber. Red is restricted to medical and fire and optional for police as long as blue is 50% of the color pattern. Great vidoes, don't stop posting.
actually he had just driven through about a foot of water his engine was fine . When I was his age I did the same stuff . Hammer down and see where it takes you . Sometimes it works sometimes it fails
@HILLAUTOBODY I own a Honda Element and I love the vehicle but would I go driving through a river with it....no! Not even if I was young because had that happened to me when I was younger all my buddies would have never stopped calling me a dumbass. I see stupid people buying brand new cars for $40,000 then take it home while riding 4 feet from someone bumper doing 60 mph, it makes you wonder how common sense gets lost.
I lived in Pacific County for 8 years. Folks do things a bit differently down there than us city folks. I doubt if any city slicker tow truck driver would ford a river to tow your butt out of a situation like this one!
That black Element has four wheel drive, you can see it has a sunroof (only the four wheel does), but when he gun it his rear wheels don't spin. Maybe his rear diff is fucked?
@HILLAUTOBODY If it's two wheel drive with the sunroof then it's not original. All Honda literature on Elements from 2003 to today show only the four wheel drive version have the sunroof. Honda is very specific about that. Not saying yours isn't two wheel drive, just that it didn't leave the factory like that. The 4WD Element's rear diff is pretty well hidden from view. To know for sure looks at the vehicle's VIN, after YH should be a 1 or 2. 1 is FWD, 2 is 4WD.
@HILLAUTOBODY even if it was a 4wd element it wouldnt have helped. rear wheels dont kick in till after the fronts spin. and street tires and manual doesnt make it any better.
humm exhaust... hope he didnt have a cold air intake lol
@sleeksilver That Element is the four wheel drive model, the two wheel drives don't have the sunroof. His tires are what got him stuck, and the driver is a tool.
Just glad they didn't have youtube back when I was his age . I would have made this kid look like a Brain Surgeon . I Rolled my 4x4 in drivway new years 1974 , Jumped a bridge in 1976 with complete failure , Lost 3 different 4x4s in the surf . Rolled a dump truck on the beach when I hit a log . Drinking was involved in all the above screw ups .
Ouch . Old Timers . Tye came in the other day and told me about these two old gals he pulled out . I asked him how old were they and said " About 50" . I guess when I was in my 20s and 30s anyone over 50 was old . My one saving grace is my wife says I act like a 12 year old most the time .
@spankula123 Actually that's a 4wd Element, one can easily tell this by the fact that is has the rear mounted factory sunroof, which was only available on 4wd models. It looks as though if the driver wouldn't have let off the throttle and allowed the front wheels to spin, it's Real Time 4wd system would of kicked in and it could have made it up that hill a lot easier.
@Tat2Dragons Not to be the stereotypical youtube "Nuh-uh, your wrong" guy but inless im a complete idiot the 2 wheel drive model has the sunroof also, well atleast mine does
@alexparish I'm not sure if you bought your Element new, but maybe the previous owner had one installed, because 2wd models never came with the factory rear sunroof. That's the easiest/quickest way to identify a 4wd model from a 2wd model. Also, none of 2009 - 2011 Elements have rear sunroofs.
two wheel drive will always fail in dirt, mud, snow, etc. I drive an Element all wheel drive with all terrain tires. I have driven trough plenty of dirt and snow with it, but would never dream of driving it into a pool of water like that. From the looks and sound of it. This kid's car belongs on the street only. Hope he learned the limitations of his car. I will always buy a car with 4WD just in case it's needed. @HILLAUTOBODY That's a long drive to tow someone
When your young you gotta have adventures . I used to drive up and down the beach with a 1959 chevrolet impala convertable . I put an old engine block in the truck for extra traction and used a 100 foot chunk of rope to pull people . I even pulled a couple 4x4's out . I regret ruining that car but I had a lot of fun at the time .
I have an Element, and regular take it off roading but mine is AWD and I have been offroading since I was 14. They can handle sand and snow with easy, but trying to take a 2wd Element through the water like that is just plain stupid
This kid is an idiot! who goes four wheeling in a car based "SUV", with no 4 wheel drive? who goes with no tow straps? the truck could have easily pulled him out with 50 dollar straps.... FAIL!!!!
If we don't do crazy things in our youth we won't have anything to remember and talk about when we are old . These friends will be able to laugh about this camping trip for years .
Well I own a honda element but It's the 4 wheel drive model and it doesn't have ridiculous wheels like that. It's got the stock wheels with open country all terrain tires. But even I wouldn't try crossing water like that in it. Great camping car that can go most places but lack of ground clearance makes it a land lover.
This young man and his friends were all going seperates ways and had hoped to have one last camoung trip before winter set in . The driver told me that they problably wouldn't be able to get together again for a long time . He was a vary polite young man . I drove round trip about 2 hours and 45 minutes . I charged him $320 about $180 less then my posted rates . He picked his car up this morning . I did not charge him any storage . courtesy goes both ways
@TheJmach1 Lol yeah i have the 4wd but i know its no land cruiser. It go go up moderate 4wd trails. But I certainly know it has limits. His E is blowing white smoke too
THE TOYOTA FOLLOWED US UP THE RIVER TO HELP US FIND THE STUCK CAR . FISH AND WILDLIFE DID ATTEMPT TO PULL THE CAR ONCE . YOUR RIGHT THE YODA WOULD HAVE YANKED IT RIGHT OUT .
@HILLAUTOBODY hey cant complain it work out for you made a quick $ lol. and where i live crossing any stream or pond is illegal to cross or drive in, and you will be summonsed. it suposedly churns up the mud and gets on fish eggs.
@HILLAUTOBODY i almost got nailed by fish and wildlife officers in new jersey. they have old sand plant all over south jersey, and they mine the sand until thay hit water then they abandon the sites. i was driving the edge of the pond not on a trail and they tried nailing me with a load of summonses.
I guess he didn't realize that 2wd isnt any good on anything but blacktop. I am sure he saw Subaru ads. They don't put them out for nothing.
