There she explains how she got the letters and mentioned the Virginia Society. The author let the reader read a letter in every chapter, and then she comments on it.
Probably there is a cover up to avoid this issue. It may generate an agitated controversy. But the truth has to emerge.
The letters belong to the Lee´s family. Elizabeth Pryor knew about them early last decade, read some of them, but was prevented to read them all by the eldest of the Lee´s, a great great grand daughter of him. The lady died in 2004-05 and then the rest of the family had no objection on releasing the letters. Pryor got them all and then wrote the book. There is a cite about her in Wikipedia, the letters are mentioned there, she became famous as a historian because of the letters.

this song does not get my favorite general of all time at all. He held no belief in the south's cause , inf act Lincoln asked Robert to command the army that Grant would eventually lead. However Lee knew that would mean attacking his home state and that's why he joined the south because like a true man of honor he wouldn't turn against his home town not cause of hatred for the north. also the first bottle of JD didnt come out till 1866

I seriously doubt the person who wrote this song knows very much about the Civil War, or history in general. If he'd been a reb soldier, he'd probably have been one of the first to throw away his rifle and head over the hill when the lead started flying. Especially when he discovered that the "liquor lamp" was out in the Confederate army.

Love this song, love this band, but I've just got one problem with it when they say General Lee didn't like the Northerners one bit. General Lee served in the US Army for many years, and had many friends that wore blue during the war. Winfield Scott was his mentor and friend during the Mexican American War. Before he resigned he struggled a lot with his decision, but ultimately his loyalties lay with Virginia. This was not an easy decision and it took tremendous moral courage on his part.

The letters exist, the book cost only 8 dollars in Amazon, used copies cost less than a dollar. There is an interview of the author in: NEH.GOV "A Conversation with Elizabeth Brown Pryor". There she explains how she got the letters and mentioned the Virginia Society. The author let the reader read a letter in every chapter, and then she comments on it.
Probably there is a cover up to avoid this issue. It may generate an agitated controversy. But the truth has to emerge.

The letters belong to the Lee´s family. Elizabeth Pryor knew about them early last decade, read some of them, but was prevented to read them all by the eldest of the Lee´s, a great great grand daughter of him. The lady died in 2004-05 and then the rest of the family had no objection on releasing the letters. Pryor got them all and then wrote the book. There is a cite about her in Wikipedia, the letters are mentioned there, she became famous as a historian because of the letters.
