  • Having a flu?

  • @elijah230797 The background noise was my pug (dog).

  • Interesting

  • Slavery is a part of nature :D

  • Does anyone know when it will be leagal to buy queen ants in the US?

  • @7mean7bunny7 lol! Not anytime soon! They are trying to keep our ecosystems intact. Its so much easier to catch one and cheaper.

  • @robomantis Well I live in Middle Georgia and I was wondering if you had any tips on the Fire Ant species? (Yes I know the risks that come along with keeping them.) Like where I would find them, what time of year that species mates and any other tips you might have would be greatly appreciated. I am going to search for newly dug holes and try digging a couple up properly without killing a potential queen.

  • @7mean7bunny7 Since i'm now as far south, I'm not sure about fire ants. The best is to catch them after flying. Don't dig them. I believe fire ants fly a few times a year. The best way i've found to start queens is use the testtube method.

  • So people actually keep farms of these things. Are they extremely harmful to people?

  • @Pooky1991 TONS of people keep ants. Its a very big hobby in Europe and it is now starting to gain popularity in the US. Some species of ants can be harmful but a good majority are very safe. The slavemaker ants are pretty calm. They are more well known for their raids of other colonies.

  • @robomantis Wow thats pretty cool. I used to wonder what it would be like to look at ants in ants farms in your own home. I doubt my mom would ever let me keep ants in the house thoughXD I doubt I would be brave enough to keep bugs in the house at all. I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to bugs:3

  • @Pooky1991 Haha yeah. most people freak out at bugs when there is no reason haha!

  • Sub'd I love this!

  • what happens of they break loose?

  • @hokko1 Well this species doesn't live in houses so they would try to find a way outside. They nest in the ground so a house wouldn't be good for them.

  • Thats so awesome. How big is you ant nest condo?

  • @0jrhindo Thanks! I moved them into a single larger nest. Will post some videos soon of it!

  • they are like "come on, fatty!" lol

  • @jesserobles hahaha yeah she can be very stubborn!

  • @robomantis It is so cute they are pulling her to the new nest lol xD

  • @PreppyPoser1 I know! hahah its so fun to watch :-D

  • @robomantis To aquire new slaves for the colony, do you collect them yourself, send some workers on raids, or purchase them?

  • @MeatfortoeatALT I collect them myself. I put rocks on slave colonies and just lift the rock and they put brood underneath the rock. Then i gather quickly without getting attacked haha!

  • good video im getting ants u shoudht make more we want more we want more

  • @TheJamiesjamiesjamie Thanks for the comment! The colony is growing now more than ever. I'm going to boost them with some larva to simulate a slave raid.

  • @robomantis I have a question... Where did you get the habitat for them? If you built it, how?

  • @Meatfortoeat

I got the pumice nest from the antscanada ant store. His name is Mikey Bustos his youtube name is antscananda. Go see his videos and he has a link to his site. I'm actually getting a new nest from him which will get here this week. Its a lot bigger and i'm really excited! I made a new video of the colonies brood. Should be up soon!

  • @robomantis Thanks, I just found a queen that recently lost her virginity. If only I had a video camera...

  • @Meatfortoeat Do you know what species she is?

  • @robomantis No unfortunately..

  • @Meatfortoeat Well what color was its middle aka thorax?

  • @robomantis I looked her over, and I think she may be a carpenter ant queen. Can't be sure though... It was amazing because she landed RIGHT in front of me! I had to scoop her up in my hands and carry her to a temporary container.

  • @robomantis hey just a general question, what do you do once the colony outgrows their nest, i mean on a huge scale to one that you couldnt cater for ? :)

  • @LiverpoolTuber Well you could always add more nests ;-D lol! I'm thinking if it gets really huge, like its supposed to I might try to sell it to a museum.

  • Love how they move the queen

  • Yeah! Me too! They can't carry her so they pull her antenna hahaha!
