  • i can't upload my video on Windows Movie Maker...its 630 mb.....

    with .avi extension......

  • my windows movie maker doesn't look like this!

  • @MrMagickent cause you probably have windows 7

  • @MrMagickent Its the same thing. Go to Save - For Computer - And then when it saves it should be at a way lower size . mine was 4 gigs and now its 29 megabytes

  • @pJAyRR yeah but, I need it to be like 300mb or less than that to get a good quality, not 30mb! cuz that would sucks for a youtube video. At least to get 720p

I tried multiple programs but couldn't do it, can you help me?

  • @MrMagickent its still good quality. go to my channel i posted my 30 megabyte video and it is still 720p. and if you want higher than 30mb then just do save movie > For High-Definition Display. and that will save it at around 120mb. but im telling you 30mb is still alright. /watch?v=COp2Rki6JYY check it out

  • @pJAyRR this is a 3.9GB video compressed to 47mb which is not good :D /watch?v=7UovBcmk1N8&feature=youtu.be

  • @MrMagickent hmm... then idk what else you could do

  • if the Innotab brought you here Google Pocket DVD Wizard.

  • Thanks a lot! Quick and easy!

  • thanks bra, turned my 3gb video into 41mb!

  • What version of movie maker are you using? I am using Version 5.1 on XP (very old I know) and I don't have a "publish movie" option. Is there a way to update my software to give me this?

  • I hope you die in a fire.

  • quality in ur vid is quite poor. i think the movie maker compression affects that.

  • The only problem about this, is the grapichs get so mutch worser compared to the AVI file, either way it may help to upload stuff faster...

  • 0:11 twss

  • Are you Microsoft sam?

  • @Stalkerville Wow, come to think about he sounds alot like him xD

  • @swordandkeyboard What would you expect? Improvement? Less information is less information.

  • @swordandkeyboard It says your comment was removed, you shouldn't remove comments, especially after apologizing, if that was you of course :P but either way, nice apology (no sarcasm intended)

  • Thx dude this helped out alot :D

  • how do u record ur screen ?

  • @harishrajan996

you have to download a software witch can record your screen. for ex. Hiper Cam

  • I've got a 9.29 gigabyte avi file that is only 9.28 minutes long. Yeah, I'm not making it bigger, thanks though.

  • Ive got a 350 MB .avi video file and i want to up it to 720p HD, using movie maker 2.6. But the estimated video file size is 2.8 GB and even saving it as 360p would result in a bigger video file than the original. What should I do?

  • okay mine doesnt upload to windows movie maker... it says it cant be imported...

  • mine get stuck at 5%

  • oh well the problem im facing is that .... "publish to" does not work for me....

everytime i click there my comp gets hung n stop working.... i want to upload my vdo to FB but the file does not recommended by the FB... so pla help me to change the file but first help me with the "publish to" thing!

    thanx

  • Thanks bro :D

  • only the sound is working for avi files

  • @Gambit1997 AVI- Audio VIDEO Interleave. so yea, it's audio + video. sound and image. You just have something not working properly.

  • OK, older versions of Windows Movie Maker will not have a publish button. But you can still do the same. When you import the video, on the left side you'll see Movie Tasks: 1. Capture Video; 2. Edit Movie; 3. Finish Movie, etc. Go under Finish Movie and choose Save to my Computer. It will then give options to save under different sizes. Have fun!

  • you sound like MICROSOFT SAM :D

  • i wish WMM wouldnt crash every time i try to use it QQ

  • Sounds like the guy from the hangover.

  • thank you so much!!! =]

  • i put my video in the timeline and it says its audio....WTF ?

  • is this windows 7, vista or XP, cuz this isn't the WMM interface for windows 7...

  • When i record in avi. and i then try to put it in my timeline it says the content of this file is unreadable? Has any1 got the same problem?

  • Windows movie maker is carbitch. it turned my video into a piexelated pile of shit.

  • my file is a mov file and it wont go on wmm how do i make it a avi file

  • @FahttGdome you will have to convert it i use a converter but the converter i use salready makes it extremely tiny so i dont even need wmm

  • @FahttGdome pm me the link of wat u use

  • How can you compress a whole DVD into parts for upload into YT?

  • @GimmeKitty Use (download) Hjsplit

  • thanks :) hey does anyone ever use windows movie maker and have a frame just freeze but the audio keeps playing? I don't know what I'm doin to make it do that. plz help if you know.

  • Thanks!!!!! That was too easy.

  • Mike - This is two help-movies in one. Split them up?

  • i have a 14 gb video (crazy i know) but i cant convert it because the converter just cant take it neaither can, windows movie maker, video studio or sony vegas so im kinda f***ed :/

  • @zakuroanimemo I don't know if this will work, but if the file size is the problem, if possible, split the video into parts, and just import the parts one by one to compress them. Then put them all together in WMM after all parts are compressed.

  • How do you play AVI files on windows media in the first place?

  • This is a good video. Thanks for putting it together. Now I won't have to bug you all the time. Now I will be able to do it myself.

    Darrell

  • any1 who knows how to make gamevideos filmed with fraps into one full clip and then make it 1gig or less?

  • nice trick, just open and re publish.

  • :D Nice Allanon. Stop being dickfaces so people will be generous enough to keep spending their time to further our knowledge out of the kindness of their hearts.

  • Perhaps learning to read or growing a brain would be a helpful exercise for you. This man isn't here to troubleshoot your WMM problems. He's simply here to tell you how to use WMM to compress your AVI files, and he does a good job of it and is helpful. If your WMM is broken and will not read the codecs, you need to go look up how to fix that instead of yelling at this guy and being an arse.

  • Perhaps you shouldnt have compressed this video. Cant read a thing

  • My video file compression was successful BUT the compressed video file has no sound, can you help me please!

  • this brilliant man ,, well done... works a treat!!! :)

  • it wont let me import? help me please please please i have a once in a lifetime video that i really want back :(

  • lol mine takes like 1min to compress

  • it doesnt say publish on top of my screen is it becuase i dont have it updated or what??

  • faggotry

  • this is shit i cant import a avi >.>

  • this worked for me thanks for takeing your time and doing this

  • this is not helpfull at all >_> dont watch this

  • It gives me a sort of gray edgeon the bottom. How can I put that away?

  • windows movei keep freezing everytime I import my files. Its 1.8GB big so maybe thats the problem.

  • no i compressed a 4.30gb... it just loads a long _VERY_ LONG Time.... >.> its annoying huh?

  • i have adobe premiere and it won't let me make the resolution smaller on my vids...anyone know why? i wanna upload my videos dammit!

  • I did the same and it exported it in WMV.

    How to export as AVI?

  • I wanna know how I can use a part of a movie to make a fanvid ¿:-s

    Someone...??

  • Thanks for the misleading title that didn't answer anything

  • @creampackage what was misleading about this? direction one, drag and drop video onto WMM, step 2, click publish, step 3 upload smaller video, step 4, let everyone watch the video of you killing yourself because you are fucking stupid.

    then i,

    step 1, celebrate.

  • good vid

  • whats the different? AVI and Wmw.

  • i think avi is raw and usually big,, wmv is lighter in size

  • how do you make it so it dosent inprt the vid in clips?

  • as i was publishing, windows movie maker froze. let's try that again...

  • p.s. strange how the fraps company says to compress there files you should buy virtual dub from them :D

looks like they "forgot" about this! lol

  • thnx for vid, gonna sort out my file now.

    3:30 mins = 1.36 GB!!!

  • 3 min = 3.90 on mine!

  • Thank you very much for this =). 4 GB AVI video of a videogame went down to 45 MB.

  • thanks windows movie maker worked fine for me. It took a 99mb file down to 44mb! thanks it helped alot!

  • But I want to keep my video avi, how do I do that?

  • Hi, I sooo need help with movie maker, I'm trying to import my avi file, but it keeps coming up with error: The codec is not supported/installed on this PC......... ok dumb question here lol in every PC I play it needs to have that software, can I stick it on a USB and then download it onto each PC??? thanks

  • You should have the codec if it is an avi file, you could have the video on an usb key in avi format or (wmv if it is a windows based operating system)

  • Thanks a lot

  • very nice movie!!

    Helped me alot ;-)

  • good advice mate and u explained it well ;)

  • What if when you import the .avi file, it doesn't go to Video. I have a movie that's an .avi but it just goes to the audio tab of the Windows Movie Maker.

    Please advise, thanks

  • On my computer it wont import an avi file. Thats what I need help with!! Please help!

  • thanks man!

  • Much help

  • How would i compress using windos movie maker on XP??

  • Go to 'Save to my computer' under the 'Finish Movie' tab on the left side of your screen.

  • hey ok so i have my camera, i have videos on the camera, i plug it in. get the files in my videos "try" to upload the files on windows movie maker and says cannot support file. what do i do?

i tryed converting and it didnt work either

  • hi, i have a question. my camera imports my videos as mov file, so then i convert it to avi and edit it in the movie maker! however when i publish it, the video changes to wmv, which is right for youtube, but then the video is not able to be viewed, you can see it, but in bluish yellowish color! How do i fix this??? or is it that once avi is converted to wmv its not viewable (if that a word) I APPRECIATE YOUR REPLY, THANK YOU! :-D

  • I use a Dazzle to record gameplay videos, and whenever I upload a video to youtube, it destroys the quality. I figured this was due to youtube compressing videos, but I can't get to seem the videos compressed with windows movie maker enough to stop youtube from raping them.

  • I put my AVI file in WMM but it axes the quality like hell anyone know how to fix this?

  • in the step when you are publishing the movie you can try to make the file size bigger, than the default, it will still be smaller than the avi you started with

  • lol, lame you can do this with with everything wmm takes...

just import » drag to the timeline and render.

  • Thanks. You saved me $50 since I didn't have to buy Blaze Media Pro!

  • There is a huge problem with this method, whenever you run a file through movie maker which isn't in its native resolution, it resizes it and leaves ugly black bars on the left and right side of your video.

  • Thanks, I've been wondering how to do this.

  • dude you sound like Microsoft Sam voice! lol, and thanks!

  • thx dude u rock

  • Thanks man! That was so helpful.

  • thx man u da best

  • This can be done in XP with Fraps I assume?

  • Nevermind I figured it out.

  • I want to compress a video to put on a CD, would I follow the same steps as you did in this vid?

  • when i save a video on moviemaker it save .wmv i want to know how to make a .avi pls if u can...msg me..

  • I have the same problem

  • i got a video from like 4 mins and 500 mb. if i compress it, what's the new size (in mb)?

  • It will probably end up being around 100Mb maybe a little over, try it and let me know, it will still be in the realm of the video sites, it will be in WMV format, All the sites I use, will accept this format

  • I already knew how to do that, but I need it to stay AVI if i convert it with windows movie maker it turns into a WMV. file

  • This video was to show people how to compress videos to make uploading to video sites faster, video sites do allow you to upload WMV formatted videos so if you are wanting to keep the same AVI format, you must have something else in mind and this may not be what you are looking for.

  • YOUR A LEGEND MICHEAL

    THANK YOU

  • Can this be done in Vista and using Fraps?

  • NVM just tried it thankz wit works!

  • Michael, this is good information. Thanks for simplifying it for me. Can't wait to give it a try.

    Thanks, Jill C.

  • Michael, I am no computer guru but you have made this process easy to follow now. Before I was just kind of floundering.

    THANK YOU!

    Jill C.
