Great video & simplest resolution to the problem, unfortunately it did NOT work for me...but at least it didn't cost me any money either. My problem was the power adapter. Bought a new one and I am now able to post this comment! (that means it worked)

Hey your vid is really helpful, however I have the same laptop as you (Presario) but slightly different problem.

My laptop light up when I turn it on, but the screen is completely blanked, it wont start up basically, but the the power button is on?

Do I do the same thing or try a different approach?

This happened to my Toshiba two weeks ago and fixed it for me doing exactly what you just did. However, on Saturday my laptop wouldn't turn on again after two weeks of working fine. I did the same thing that you did, but 30 seconds or a minute wasn't enough. I took at least five minutes for it to turn on. Same thing happened yesterday and it just happened again today. My Acer extensa 5630ez has had big problems turning on , I went to Fixya.com, I removed the R138 resistor from the top of the mobo, it now turns on perfectly and immediately . I have read that most mobos at the cheaper end of the market ,come from a few factories, and a read of the web certainly suggests there is a large problem in this area of trying to turn on laptops ,most of which are out of guarantee.

hey dude i have a problem im not sure if you can help me, i got a new lenovo last month. i kept the thing running for days and weeks because if i turn it off and try to turn it back on the power button will light up and nothing will show on the screen and it doesnt show power going to hd or anything it freezes, i then have to pull the battery out. retry to power it and i get no power at all. battery aint dead, ac is lit but comp aint getting power. tried this didnt work. sometimes will turn on.

@hippa2dahoppa2 If you've only had it a month you need to call Lenovo and have them fix it.... They have a one year guarantee on any hardware problems you have during that time...

well its just not getting power at all its like the power button has no response and every once in a while it will work and run fine for days but once i shut it off theres no telling when i can get it back on. its almost as if the power button is broke. i dont think its the hd itself i ruled that out because i took it out and it still doesnt start. i had it 50 days the receipt says cant return after 45 days

If its new, then take it back for a replacement. you mention that no power is going through to the hdd, can you feel it spinning? slight viabrations? If not then it could possibly be a hardware fault.

Try the method stated in this video, if no luck post a video response of your issue.

Man you just saved me a ton of time and money .My daughters Hp dv8000 was dead on the counter and and came back to life after I followed you instructions. Put the battery in and it quit again so have a replacement battery on its way.

I tried this. It didnt work. Dell tried it too. It didnt work. They had to change the motherboard. On my laptop, the issue was that the soldering near one of the circuits was loose and it wouldnt start when it was too cold, due to expanding and contracting.

@MrProskiii the esd works for the problem you describe about half the time is ur ac adapter getting warm when you plug it into the wall its possible you could have a problem with ur adapter resulting in a dead battery and the unit getting no power
