Regarding noisy motorcycles: loud bikes save lives. It's a fact, like it or not. In traffic, it's often difficult or impossible to see motorcycles, due to blind spots. If they can hear a bike come up next to them, they are less likely to cut them off and cause an accident.
However, having said that, bike owners shouldn't be deliberately obnoxious assholes.
At first glance, the libertarian view (stossels) would be as long as they're not hurting anyone else we have no right to interfere.
That said, this is one of those topics where loud music annoys the fuck out of people & drives a few of them nuts, especially if its near your workplace / home & on an ongoing basis.
Obviously Buddykiller knows nothing about decibel levels. Buddykiller also has no respect for others rights to peace and quiet. I guess Buddy killer would not mind smokers blowing smoke into his/her face or someone disrepecting him or her.
sorry sir, but i am not a terrorist. i'm an avid music fan, however, and like to hear everything that music has to offer. if you get woken up by a car passing your house with a loud system you need to get to a doctor because your an incredibly light sleeper. if you want to talk decibel levels, it's nothing for an average room to have ambient noise well over 80db. i also love it how they feature db drags and car shows, implying that these cars are actually on the streets.
another thing, that dousch bag is contradicting himself saying people have the right to enjoy their property and are losing that right due to "boom cars"..well how about the people with "boom cars" that want to enjoy their car, which is their property..??
As long as you keep your sound to yourself, you are not hurting anyone, or compromising anyone's quality of life. The problem is that many play their sound systems with levels of bass that cannot be kept in the car or out of people's dwellings. Some of the violators interviewed seemed to think that people could go home to escape the bass. This is not true, and was not clarified in the piece.
the problem is, is that most systems can't be heard at any annoying level inside a decent dwelling because most systems are highly underpowered and subs are in boxes not designed for them.
the problem isn't as bad when you can barely hear a thump thump vs actually rattling your walls, but talking to an individual can go a long way. my cousin recently had a baby and they asked me if i could keep it down past 9 they where really nice so i comply and turn it off before i pass their house.
The distinction is 'private' property. We may enjoy our private property how we like.
But boom cars transgress this rule, and no longer is the property private, but is publicly abusing others. So it should lose its private property rights.
Perhaps you were abused as a child, and seek to abuse others in turn, but that won't help. There is always enough evil in the world, it will never need you. But peace needs you! I pray your heart moves towards peace, and holy light and wisdom imbue you.
