Director and parents must be protective of the emotions of child actors in movies with horrifying topics (this can be done, has happened in numerous European films). Perhaps most importantly, filmmakers must look with a very critical eye at how such a film can avoid being a turn-on for potential pedophiles. And could it trigger similar acts? I don't think burying the issue, not making films about it, is the right answer. But it has to be handled with enormous sensitivity and responsibility.

'Surely one of the original purposes of theatre was to reflect social behaviours... Dakota doing this role is giving a voice to all the 12 year olds out there that these disturbing yet very real things happen to.' It's a delicate balance, and it depends on the director - it's important that hidden stories have their truth revealed so that the stigma, the punishment, falls less on the victims.

In fact, I would say that because it is such a reality, it is that much more disturbing. But I give definate props to this movie for forcing us to think about something that we, as a society ignore. The aftermath of such horrible events is what really needs to be seen anyways.

We could debate this all day long, but the point is these things really do happen EVERYDAY, and although this is a politcally challenging way to raise its awareness, it DOES raise awareness for a subject that NEEDS to be addressed.
