Great video man, I was chking SLO vids to see the area better and caught yours. I haven't raced that much really. A few centuries here and there, but love riding. Looking forward to living in SLO soon, from... Tenn. My bro lives there now.
Wow, I've neglected my videos for a while. The race was 90 minutes long... it can almost get boring during some of the races because it's too smooth (but this one never got old)
There are 3 songs. The first one is the theme song from the video game Kingdom Hearts. 2nd and 3rd are from the video game Halo 2. (Or maybe just Halo... I can't remember)
I actually have the camera tilted slightly upwards. I found during hard efforts I tend to tip my head down slightly so I tried to accommodate. I suggest just doing a bunch of trial rides to get a feel for where the camera needs to be placed. And make sure the helmet strap is tight so it doesn't wobble.
Usually before the race I use the expected race time to figure out how high my quality setting can be. This video was probably at the make 640 X 480 but at 15 frames per second so I can record the entire race. I bought a 2gb sd card for maximum memory... I highly recommend getting one.
I used the Windows Movie Maker that came with my computer. Just look through all the tabs and you can find some good editing features. However, I want to integrate my powertap data to the movie and have it scoll across the bottom, but I think I need a better editor for that.
Overall, I think I did okay given my peak was about 3 weeks earlier and my performance was going down hill. Getting in that break at the end was a good result even though I couldn't hold the pace till the end. I just need more power! I ended up something like top 25 or so.
Cool. I look forward to being there if everything works out. I'm still having trouble accepting making myself look kind of foolish with a helmet camera (especially in the pro/1/2 field) even though I do enjoy having the videos afterwards to edit and share...
Well.. I don't plan on racing there any time soon ^_^ unless something unexpected comes up. Technically, the officials in the U.S. could prevent me from racing with the cam on too if they wish due to the clause about helmet modification. However, the officials are cool ^_^
Glad you liked it. Hope you enjoy SLO as much as I enjoyed racing there!

"ONE HOUR TO GO"? Good god, what was the length of the crit? These riders look much smoother than your other vid.

Its good too see you stayed on the inside of the corners. How did you have the cam pointed on top....flush?..or pointed down a bit?

GOod Job Man! I just bought this cam. What were the video quality settings you used for this race? Also, what program did you use to edit?
How did you do in this race anyway? I'm a CAT3 but don't have much intention of moving up since I'm deployed in the navy a lot.

I loved this race!! But that part going past the mission was kinda sketchy. I hope i get higher than 3rd next time in the 15-16 division though.

Fred wasn't in the race, but I agree!
Nice job, Colter! Hope you wear the helmet cam at some collegiate races as well.

You should come back for the '08 race. Higuera St. was just repaved. It's smooth as glass now.

You had a cam in your helmet during the race??
That wouldn´t be allowed in Europe...
