nathanaelstacy1 You can be critical of the bible and God to your heart and mind is satisfied. God can handle it. The real matter is 1) is the New Testament True and good reliable history, 2) If pt. 1 is true and you willing to give over your life to Jesus as Lord and savior.? If it is true history and you don't believe, God will not put a gun to your head. God gave you free will to decide. God is also very patient. He can wait with you. Rejected truth leaves you dead in your sin.
Why would you believe that Fight4Privacy ? Do you have any evidence ? Why only 1 divine entity not multitudes ? Doesn't the world feel more like it was designed by a committee ?
You need to prove that statement to be taken seriously Isabela874. The Bible starts making obvious mistakes on page 1 and never lets up. Did you know a "firmament" is a ceiling, last time I looked, the world doesn't have a ceiling, so the Bible is wrong and therefore as God is supposed to be perfect, either the Bible is not God's word and/or God can't exist.
Haha, Yeah, I think you could safely conclude that some of the opinions you've expressed aren't traditional. But that's what makes them interesting. I dig conversations with people who are willing to actually think... Btw, I'd encourage you to make those videos if you're so inclined. Ya might even get new insights from the process itself.
Hey Catch, I think I get what you mean. Sorry I misunderstood you. My perception was probably colored by the easy-out I had recently received from another Christian commenter on the supplementary vid. So I apologize for projecting that onto you.
Honestly, Catch, I've noticed that when one begins to ask questions that trouble a believer, the believer will often begin to use what might be called easy-outs. Easy-outs are ways of retaining one's faith without confronting the problems. This argument you're making would seem to fit within that category -- essentially that if something in the Bible seems not to be true, it's always because we humans just aren't up to understanding the subject. But there's a problem with the easy-out.. (cont'd)
(cont'd)... and that is that they can apply equally to any holy writing. For instance, "The Koran may not seem to be God's Word, but that's simply because our understanding is faulty"; "The Rig Veda may not seem to be God's Word, but that's simply because our understanding is faulty."
If God actually inspired one of these books, shouldn't that book stand out as being true? If its believers always have to use easy-outs to explain away problems, wouldn't that be an indication of something?
Hey Catch... If one tries to explain something to a child using a simplified form of the truth, when the child gets older, he or she will realize that what they were told was just that: simplified truth. So if that's what the Bible is, then we should be able to find that through a critical examination. However, if what we find is that it is something other than truth... What should we then conclude? That God lied to us? Or that the Bible isn't from God?

Like mco4, I look forward to this series also. The truth should have nothing to fear. I also agree that saving is God's work and not ours. ES
