No. Just listen to bands like Soulfly and Gogol Bordello (for instance). They've managed to make a completely new kind of sound for themselves. And almost every year a new band comes out and does the same, although most of them suck extremely hard. But still. At least there is SOME evolution going on there.

Slayer lost touch with there thrash roots in the early to mid 90's, Same goes for Exodus, hell exodus didn't release a fucking album for 12 years up until Tempo, how the hell do you consider that keeping thrash going? And now Megadeth, they haven't been a thrash band since they released Youthanasia. Yes thrash is coming back, and i for one welcome it with wide arms if bands like Evile, Violator, Fueled by Fire etc. keep releasing shit like this.

Yeah, that's true. But in the end (around 2000) they all came back their original style. And while they were "gone", a lot of other bands kept it alive. (F.ex. Sodom, Testament and Annihilator.)

The only thing that's new today, is the increase in popularity. Everybody thinks it's so fucking cool to call themselves Thrash, but most of them doesn't even know how to spell it. And those who actually DO know Thrash, are boring, generic bands like Evile.

and thats exactly why hardly anyone plays thrash anymore, because thrash has refused to change in the slightest all other genres of metal have been flexible enough for bands to try the things they wanted while still being "metal" enough to be allowed to be in that genre. Thrash has always been the same regurgitated music because the fans are too dismissive n hateful to let it progress.

Don't blame this on the fans, it's the musicians that are responsable for the music they're making.

And there have actually been a very good progression in Thrash Metal up untill the end of the last century. Listen to albums like 'Chaos A.D.', 'Nothing To Gain', 'Jesus Killing Machine', 'Low' and generally any album issued by a Thrash Metal band in the mid-90s. Those sounds are a LONG jump from the first Thrash albums had to offer.

What Evile (and nearly every other new Thrash Metal band) has done, is ignoring the progression of Thrash and going back the genres most primitive and under-developed style. The whole "new wave of Thrash" has turned into just another fucking retro-fad, instead of picking up on the latest progressions of Thrash and actually trying to make something NEW.

Yes, alot of thrashers hates Metallica for the shitty music they made after 'The Black Album', but when they lost most of their Thrash-audience, they gained a much bigger fanbase in the mainstream.
