A few years ago I was new to big bikes and I was riding a borrowed VF750F. Interceptor to those in the states. my friend let me have a go of his 99 Busa and I was scared of it. down a sliproad onto a motorway and I only opened it up in 3rd, short shifted to 4th then 5th. Saw about 164 is the image I have in my mind. Been faster on my 9r now and I regret not seeing what a Busa can really do coz I never revved it hard. My friends ask me what they're like and I go "dunno". Gutted :(
These bikes are limited at 187mph (300kph). This is a choose of the manufactures and not actually a law. Bypassing this limited is incredibly simple and amazingly is only in 6th gear! The bike can exceed 187 in 5th gear all day long. In many of these bikes it's as simple as grinding off two of the four arms on front sprocket that control speed sensor. Whether or not this bike is stock or not, I don't know but I wouldn't doubt it.. And I bought my '08 Busa brand new for $11k
i think that is sick, this bike prob costed maybe 30thousand, but a Ferrari costs like 160, and u buy that for speed, and a hayabusa for fun, but the bike smokes the shit outta a ferrari,
@matmat187 not sure about the hayabusa but the ninaj zx-14r is only $14,000 and does the same top speed with fast acceleration then a hayabusa.
thing is all the street legal bikes top out at 186mph (even if the engine could go faster) due to a law in europe because bikes were getting too fast. so 186/300 mph/kmh is where they said enough is enough and if you go any further we're not allowing the imports of your bikes.

@VaMoneyCow - Just tired of people thinking this run was bogus or something. My friend didn't realize he never hit 6th gear. He did it twice too. We never noticed until I started watching closely as we couldn't believe it would take more room for the bike to reach the typical top speed of these bikes which was 184mph as being common. We did these runs on a 3 mile road where we used about 1 1/2 miles of it.
Back before 2003 and the "Manufactures agreement", "Busa's would run right at 200mph. All of the Jap bike makers agreed to limit top speed to 186mph now.........
With a little snip of a wire they will do 200 now, along with Kawasaki's ZX-14.......

He is in 1st gear trust me. If you compare my video of my bike with me on it, I am geared -1/+2. Our acceleration the first 2 gears are close. No way that he could be in 2nd gear. I go through all 6 gears. The road is exactly the same and if you try to sync up the vids together from the near the beginning, you will see that he will eventually have better top end and never hits 6th gear. If you also look at my other vids, there is a video where we race each other.

@bmxin4lfe - Another dumbass. Look man. The speedos are always wrong unless you have something to calibrate it properly. Second of all he was radar'd by a calibrated Police issue gun. My bike was modded and geared. I weighed more than him by like 80lbs. Acceleration was similar but my top end was only 172mph in 6th gear. When we race he pulls me once we get into 5th gear. After 6th he starts pulling away even faster.
@illf8ted - I never said he reached 184mph in 5th. Based on gearing and perfect conditions, it is possible that it can be reached. I've been to the Texas mile twice now and see what it takes to reach certain speeds in just a mile. All of these riders have been faster on longer roads such as the one we used.
if you arent a jackass and know what you're doing, busas actually turn very well, not as well as a 1000 but close. they are completely underestimated when it comes to handling, id know.....since i own one, and any hayabusa owner would agree

@seapeddler If it's the rear tire, you might be okay if you're going straight, it'll just drag like going at slower speeds. That's what I'm guessing anyways, I've locked my back at about 60 mph. Front means you're a dead man.
The thing that you want to forget is that depending on the year it may not have a speed limiter. 99-01 I have an 02 busa that's been moded with gears, airbox, full exhaust, and a flashed ecu. I can run 155 in fourth before I shift out to 5th. And size doesn't really matter it's skill I can out run a guy half my weight. And yes he was on a Busa too.
@mrKTM121 a busa has a massive speed but the zx-10 i think it is does the same speed... but if u wanna race dont get it unless its all straight cuz with the length of one the handling is terrible
He is stock,the speedo is about 15-18mph off at that speed,normal for a bike. It also has a speed limiter that will kick in at 184(hayabusa). So if he was at sea level,the bike would have rev limited in 5th,and forced him to go to 6th,then he would have hit the speed limiter,next. Altitude that high kills any motor,except electric ;)

@zoomiguel - Altitude man, 5300' and the power of a stock Gen I Hayabusa is generally about 150-155hp if measured at Sea Level (SAE). We are up at 5300' and the actual power is about 125-128hp actual. This rider was about 160lbs
@Racketeerof89 - Fuel Injection has no bearing on altitude. It may compensate better and more accurately than carburation but altitude is still altitude.
@Racketeerof89 but the air pressure is much less at 5300 msl.. The cylinders suck in much less air than at sea level.. The injectors only shoot as much fuel at the air in the cylinders need.. so you still get a derate at higher altitude.. The only way to compensate for the loss of air pressure is to add a turbo(plus the lag of a turbo) or add a super-charger. (dont know if thats possible on a bike)
@hwoods01 /watch?v=PEMPprjbCD0 Superchrgers work great on bikes. They run cooler than a turbo and give instant power with no lag. I believe a turbo is much better up top though.
@CBR11X Superchargers work great (I had a supercharged 5.0 Mustang) but the downside is that they're parasitic (they need engine Hp to run them) so in actuality, a Turbo DOES make more RWHP per pound of boost. If a Busa's motor makes 280 Hp with 12lbs of supercharger boost,12psi of TURBO boost would net more RWHP cause it doesnt need engine Hp to spin it like a supercharger does. But Turbos DO create TONS of heat. BTW, I had a CBR-1100XX before I bought the Busa. The XX is an AWESOME bike!!
Obviously you need to learn some chemistry before you start delving into auto mechanics. Higher altitudes have less oxygen in the air, somewhere near 6% above 5000, where sea level has around 7%. That is 1/7th the amount of energy available lost. So, in example: 140 hp vehicle loses 20 hp at 5000 elevation. Above 15000, they lose another 1% oxygen or another 1/7th horsepower. Oxygen is a very flammable gas at higher levels, and makes other gases (gasoline fuel) vary volatile.

@honkieconvention If the bike had counter-rotating mass in the wheels, this may cancel the shake; on an immaculate surface. This could be actuated much like ABS.
Are you telling me you've actually gone 220 mph on a bike? Geez, I though 130 mph on a V45 was fast. Anyway, that was 1983.

@seapeddler If it's the rear tire, you might be okay if you're going straight, it'll just drag like going at slower speeds. That's what I'm guessing anyways, I've locked my back at about 60 mph. Front means you're a dead man.

The thing that you want to forget is that depending on the year it may not have a speed limiter. 99-01 I have an 02 busa that's been moded with gears, airbox, full exhaust, and a flashed ecu. I can run 155 in fourth before I shift out to 5th. And size doesn't really matter it's skill I can out run a guy half my weight. And yes he was on a Busa too.

He is stock,the speedo is about 15-18mph off at that speed,normal for a bike. It also has a speed limiter that will kick in at 184(hayabusa). So if he was at sea level,the bike would have rev limited in 5th,and forced him to go to 6th,then he would have hit the speed limiter,next. Altitude that high kills any motor,except electric ;)

@zoomiguel - Altitude man, 5300' and the power of a stock Gen I Hayabusa is generally about 150-155hp if measured at Sea Level (SAE). We are up at 5300' and the actual power is about 125-128hp actual. This rider was about 160lbs

@Racketeerof89 but the air pressure is much less at 5300 msl.. The cylinders suck in much less air than at sea level.. The injectors only shoot as much fuel at the air in the cylinders need.. so you still get a derate at higher altitude.. The only way to compensate for the loss of air pressure is to add a turbo(plus the lag of a turbo) or add a super-charger. (dont know if thats possible on a bike)

@hwoods01 /watch?v=PEMPprjbCD0 Superchrgers work great on bikes. They run cooler than a turbo and give instant power with no lag. I believe a turbo is much better up top though.

@CBR11X Superchargers work great (I had a supercharged 5.0 Mustang) but the downside is that they're parasitic (they need engine Hp to run them) so in actuality, a Turbo DOES make more RWHP per pound of boost. If a Busa's motor makes 280 Hp with 12lbs of supercharger boost,12psi of TURBO boost would net more RWHP cause it doesnt need engine Hp to spin it like a supercharger does. But Turbos DO create TONS of heat. BTW, I had a CBR-1100XX before I bought the Busa. The XX is an AWESOME bike!!

Obviously you need to learn some chemistry before you start delving into auto mechanics. Higher altitudes have less oxygen in the air, somewhere near 6% above 5000, where sea level has around 7%. That is 1/7th the amount of energy available lost. So, in example: 140 hp vehicle loses 20 hp at 5000 elevation. Above 15000, they lose another 1% oxygen or another 1/7th horsepower. Oxygen is a very flammable gas at higher levels, and makes other gases (gasoline fuel) vary volatile.
