I'll be a man and admit that I shed tears for Jeffery. Perhaps THE most painful overbid I have ever seen in the 28 years I have watched The Price is Right. It isn't about the amount that someone's over, it's the thought of what could have been that really hurts when it happens.
Oh that's right.. Joshua won because... although he bid WAY under.... the fact that the other guy went OVER makes him the winner by default. Wow. That's kinda cool.
That's the longest and most awkward pause I can ever remember between someone going over, and the winning bells for the other person. Remember Barker's lightning fast, "You're OVER! (points to winner) YOU WIN!"
@Pyrotech56 Agree there. But that was deserved since the fans and audience felt the loss -- even the winner did. A few times on close calls Drew lets the audience's emotions overrule him -- note the "That was a tough loss" comment a few days later.
they need to get rid of the "without going over" crap i mean on the contestants row someone bids 500 and the actual retail price is 499! but instead somebody that bid 1 dollar gets it!
@Tristin471 That's been the rule since day one. It adds that degree of difficulty that makes winning on "The Price is Right" that much of a challenge.
@Tristin471 The "thrill of victory... and the agony of defeat" would be gone if they got rid of the "without going over crap" . The audience would quickly lose interest if there wasn't the tension created by that one rule.
that hurts, and i would've guessed even higher for a showcase with a porchse...i remember seeing a porsche won in an ep around 1988 where the price was in the 45k range...
that has got to be the most painful overbid in the history of the price is right the only thing that would have made this worse was that he was over by $1 or less then $100 but still a really painful overbid on such a big showcase
What a tragic loss. The TV director captured everything perfectly. Just seeing Jeffery's head hit the podium, with his bid screen changing to "Over", and the losing buzz shattering his dreams of owning a Porche... you feel for the guy.
Joshua is even shocked, not believing he could win with such a huge underbid. Both were good sports, but the video is really about Jeffery's loss.
I wouldn't mind paying $4k for a $12k car just off the lot....
With all the crap that nude guy from the first "Survivor" when through for not paying taxes on his winnings, is it really a secret that you have to pay taxes on things you win in this country?
Then it wouldn't be as challenging, if you make it that way in the showcase, you'd have to do the same thing in Contestant's Row and that would take away part of the fun.
I'll be a man and admit that I shed tears for Jeffery. Perhaps THE most painful overbid I have ever seen in the 28 years I have watched The Price is Right. It isn't about the amount that someone's over, it's the thought of what could have been that really hurts when it happens.

When you say "Greco" are you to mean Kathy, as in the producer? And by referring to her, does this mean you're TPiR staff or something? :[]

To Joshua's credit, he was nice enough to console Jeffrey before celebrating his own win. I respect that.

Drew should've just said "You're over. Joshua wins!" like Bob usually does. That's all. Drew shouldn't rub it in.

LUCKY Joshua! O_O Once Drew Carey said that 3, if I was Jeffrey, I would have fainted.

@InfernoCouchemar How many of those prizes did you end up keeping? And what the heck was the "virtual assistant for 3 months" supposed to do, anyway?
Vook 1 year ago
@Vook Everything but the jet trip. They gave me most of my Showcase prizes (except the chair and trip) in cash, which totaled around $6K.
As for that assistant service thing...I don't know, but it doesn't matter, since that gave me more than two-thirds of my cash.
