@darrylmit Well that was possible, because it was before the fall of italys fascist leader Mussolini. That was filmed on location in Venice.

Wasn't this film made in Nazi Germany?

1943 to be exact. It was made during the turn of the tide. It was well known for leaving out politics of the time (although they are hinted at, especially one scene that hints at the Extermination camps although no one would realize it until they saw it in hindsight). The lead character was also against the Nazi party as well.
