I never expected to find so many intelligent commentaries on u-tube, discussions with meaningful content and dozens of intellectual trivia.

Also the work itself gives me hope, that russian cinema is far from dead (only a refugee in the caves of TV) but still kicking asses. M&M is like "Alexanderplatz" made by Lynch. I enjoyed each and every minute of it, even when the music becomes repetative (ep. 8 or 9) – really thrilled me!!

He is Russian. He was born to a Russian family in Saint-Petersburg (Leningrad). Speaks Russian without accent.

Does anyone have an idea why the Master's voice is spoken by Sergij Bezrukov who besides plays Jesus? I like Bezrukov's voice very much, but still, I find it strange to choose a russian actor and refuting his voice on film.

Well, though I'm fluent in both English and Russian, none of them is my mother tongue; the translation is quite accurate - there are some mistakes, but if one is concentrated on the action, they are almost invisible. As Nataly says, there's no perfect translation. More1and1more - thanks for the series!

I like the translation very much. I am not a professional translator, of course, but for example, I would never put so perfectly if had to translate such a text into English for someone. Although I've seen a couple of grammar mistakes, but they could be mistyping.

Hmm, translation is definitely not bad, I'd say. You just can't expect a perfect translation, such thing doesn't exist since languages differ.

Why do you say translation is inacurate? And what things were replaced? To me, the translation corresponds to the Russian lines of the movie very pricesly.

@more1and1more Actually, the translation has many mistakes, sometimes it seems that the translator either doesn't know too well english, or isn't really aware of subtleties of russian,in any case, thank you for this wonderful upload;)

many times, the choice facing a translator is whether to translate verbatim, or by sense. i've noticed that sometimes, they may choose a completely different word, but the emotional and cultural connotations somehow "click" better.

when they say something like "что ты", i don't think a literal translation would be helpful. :P

still, i must admit, even though my russian isn't so good, there have been some times where i thought they didn't need to make such drastic changes in the literal translation...oh well, guess that "i can do a better job" feeling happens to all of us sometimes :D
