I'm wondering if u put to munch or not enough power in to the amp and over time it has fried something. Because it's not the right cord. Maybe you could check your fuse if u haven't already.
@kk9anathoth that's a keen eye. No it is not the original cord, but it is one of several I use all the time. It just happened to be the one I used when taking the video. It started making the sound mid-rehearsal, implying something went pop.
Well I replaced the tube, and the fault remained. After freezing several of the power components to see if it was a power/temperature issue, I concluded it must be a fault with the dsp board.
As the speaker cones are in excellent working order, and the amp does look cool, I modified it onto a cabinet for use with a head. I did this in such a way that if a solution is ever found, I can use the combo again.
What's this?! You're 'surprised' that your MADE-IN-CHINA Vox Valvetronix guitar amplifier makes a siren noise instead of working properly? Keep buying more consumer goods from that Godless totalitarian regime and see where it gets you - unemployed and with a house chock full of defective (and often dangerous) products!
@The18Jake Hey could you post how you fixed this on here please? I just bought one off craigslist and it does a similar record skipping sound and siren noises after 15 or so minutes....it's not that bad and if your playing loud enough you can't hear it but if it gets worse I have to figure it out.
I was thinking maybe the fuse? The speakers didnt sound bad or anything so maybe it has something to do with the effects components?
@DarthGiorgio it depends on if its plugged into its own outlet without any extra components plugged into it,let it stay in one outlet, not in a power strip and tell me if it still makes the sound.Sometimes they do not get enough power because of the shared output
@The18Jake Hey thanks for replying so fast. Just tried it into a wall outlet by itself and after a few minutes the same noise started again. I might try replacing the fuse and the power chord is second hand. Usually they are black but this one is grey, my Dad has a AD50 and thats who I got this for so when I bring it buy I can try the regular Vox power chord but that probably not it. Any other ideas? It's a sort of high pitch record stopping sound with some skips in it.
@The18Jake Hey, I have a AD100VT...same one as in the video. Makes a similar noise but quieter but has some skipping sound after the initial phase sound. I took it apart a little and took out the head and look at the components and didn't see anything burned out or out of place. Put tube from my AD50 in it and it was good but had that sound in the background. Cleaned all outlets, checked the fuse, disconnected the speakers.Sounds like it comes from the speakers but speakers are not busted Ideas?
@DarthGiorgio Have you also tried power cycling the amp? If that doesn't help try and see if something is shorted out, like a frayed wire or anything touching
@The18Jake I did a reset on it but nothing changed, sucks. When I took the head out I looked pretty good but I can look again. Ive been seeing people with similar problems on different AD models and I never find that they got a solution to it. Im going to bring it to a dealer on Monday but I dont want them to screw me if it's something small. Even though the noise still happens when the tube is out do u think it can be a certain tube that will fix it?
@DarthGiorgio I take that back, the record skipping sound is your tubes, one of them may be bad. It's best to change them yearly. How long ago did you replace them?
@The18Jake yeah I can't take it back anymore or warranty I don't think. A new board would be expensive but I'm going to get circuit cleaner and a new proper tube and hope for the best.
Power cycling does not fix the problem for me. I thought it was the tube, so I replaced it, but that made no difference. It takes about 10-15 minutes before it starts doing it.
It makes that sound if the pre-tube is broken if im right.

It looks like you don't have the original power cord. Is this true?

warranty repair, the amp's 99% solid state and far too complex for a tech to fix.

I left you a comment on possibly being a way to fix your problem man. I had the same problem with mine

@DarthGiorgio ok, I'm thinking it may be something to do with the circuit board in your amp then,it may be going bad but I'm not totaly sure

You fix it yet?... It's a fantastic amp, never had this problem with mine >_>
Synyst3rg4t3 1 year ago
mine makes a similar noise very occasionally, but usually if you turn it off, replug it back in, then turn it on again it goes away.
