I bought the peavy "wolfgang" speacial awhile back. What a hunk of crap. I even took it back to guitar center. LOL I hope the fender is much better. I am glad Eddie is not with peavy anymore. They are a worthless company.

I know what you mean vanhalenking about the Peavey Wolfgang guitars. Some of them are definitely crap! You have to buy the Wolfgang model with the two knobs, volume and tone, and the contoured body. I believe that's the Wolfgang standard model. The Wolfgang models with the single volume knob and flat surface bodies are pretty much crap!! I threw a new Semour Duncan distortion in the bridge of mine and it SMOKES!! The Wolfgang specials are CRAP!! Halen still ROCKS!!

saw the guys in orlando on valentine's day. my first vh show. very happy to see the show but i agree with all those that say that the sound mix was off, kind of distorted, like a bad grunge-rock concert. it was muddled the entire 2 hours. they've had plenty of time to correct the situation but can't seem to do so.

That's how they've always sounded and that's how DLR has sounded solo for years. I think that this music lends itself to sounding this way when really loud in a big concrete arena.

I saw VH last night in Charlottesville,Va.,and after seeing your video theres no reason for me to post mine. Show looked identical!(except DLR was the one showing his abs,not Eddie.:( ). I totally agree with "algims" tho,the sound was awful. 1/2 the time I couldn't even figure out what they were playing.Eddie's solos were unbelievable, tho! C'ville John Paul Jones Arena is a small venue,only 10k seats,and the sound should have been much better.Great video!Will look up more of your work!

saw the pitts. show too. sound was kinda bad at times but they never sounded better! DLR needs to sing more than every three words but eddie rocked!!! wolfie was good and AVH still beats the hell out of those drums! This was my 11th time seeing them and it was one of the best. My first and best show was in 81! it was crazy!!!

Saw VH in Pgh on APril 30. SOund sucked. Could not hear signing most of time overpowered by band. Sound was distorted and muddled. VH, Please kill or fire your sound man he is a total asshole.

I saw VH in 70's and 80's in Pgh. with DAVE 4 times, they never sounded like shit, last nite they did. Not their fault, it was the sound man.

I have read reviews of their other shows in other cities and they all say the sound sucks. Come on guys, its time to take some action!

Well I went to the Oct. 30 show in Boston. It was filled with fake enthusiam from the band. It was the same show I had watched on you tube and it's still the same show. God bless them I hope they make a bunch of dough. I thaught awe maybe it's ust bad audio but no this is what it sounds like. It is not a show for someone wanting to hear there music the audio is crap. Dave said "judge us harshly" This is not my harshness but I would give it a 6 out of 10....They can do better.

The 25000 dollar guitars were made over a year ago. Most have gone to private collectors. Only certain guitar centers got the guitars to begin with. I got mine from wild west guitars. It is a very expensive piece of crap. However it really does sound like Eddie. So all in all it rocks.

With all due respect to Eddie, he didnt start the technique. Jazz guitarists in the 50s were doing it. Steve Hackett of Genesis did it in the 70s. EVH brought back the focus to the guitars in a synth dominated music scene(with 'Eruption') and thats why he's considered so influential...........

If Ed was having chemo, he still wouldn't have any hair and the tour would have been postponed much longer than one month. And to pinstrps: its not speculating or rumors. Ed is an admitted hard core alcoholic. When someone has a long history of substance abuse, it is perfectly permissable to assume they've fallen off the wagon when they are acting strange and looking like death warmed over.

What are you talking about? The standard stay in rehab is about a month, which is how long the VH tour was postponed. Why do you think a radio station would know more than anyone else? Most DJ's are flunkies who are lucky to make 20K a year. Despite spinning records, they have zero connections in the music biz. It's obvious Ed's "illness" was substance abuse related. He couldn't even play his guitar in those last shows.

Ed wrote riffs/music. Dave wrote vocal melodies(which is music), lyrics, background vocals parts, and Dave and Ed arranged the songs. Alex would also help with arrangments.

yeah, I saw tyhem in '83 and '84. They were awesome back then. Dave is sort of a clown, and he can get kind of annoying, especially in interviews, but he was a great singer for the band, and he took some of the edge off Eddie's hard rock playing, which made the music more accessible to the general public.
