  • Y U NO FLY!?!???!????!??!??!

  • use 50% elmers glue and 50% water. it creates a nice snug fit. it doesnt have any wrinkles.

  • is it fly?

  • @ThePashaji Only in the imagination...

  • it does not fly because you have bad covering job

    but it still looks good

  • lucky thatones easy mine was the p51 mustang impossible

  • @minititan100 Paper and White glue

  • Good video, but dude- that music is depressing. I was expecting an epilogue where the thing killed your dog or something.

  • what type of glue do you use?

  • Built that one in the 1970's, no decals, but paper

cutouts. Power was Brown Jr. CO2. What a great

flying dream machine. Had it for many tears, only

flew it on calm days over soft tall grass fields.

  • this was my first plane too, wouldnt fly thought, too heavy

  • Are you winding the rubber propperly ? Did you lubricate it ?

If you can, try better rubber or a bigger prop...

Maybe removing the landing gear and checking the incidence of the wing...

  • stock prop and rubber, but i added 5 g of noseweight and now it glides

  • If you have paper left, re-cover the wing, at least the top, must be tight, no paint.

    Floppy covering makes wing inefficient...

  • @canals22 if you use a spray bottle and lightly spray it with water it will make it tighter

  • Newbies... the best thing to do, is to buy one of the books Guillows sells on how to, this will save hedeaches and money...

The expert maximun guru genious prophet...

  • Save money? I doubt he maxed out the credit cards on this project and filed for bankruptcy. These kit are cheap.

  • ima build my first plane from scratch i will make a motar perpeler and a rubber powerd plane

  • my first is the piper super cub 95 still a work in progress

  • Comment removed

  • Congratulations on your first Guillow's build! One trick I like for applying the silkspan is to apply it wet. Soak it with water, then glue the paper to the wood with Zapp (water proof glue). When when it dries, you will have a very nice and tight finish.

  • im building my first kit and its a messerschmitt BF-109.

I finished everything except the stabilizer and the tissue.

  • These planes are fun to build but the instructions aren't very detailed and make it difficult for the first time builder. Anyone have any idea where i can get the long rubber bands for extended flight time?

  • great hobbies. use the sig rubber its cheap long (i have 25 feet of it for like $11)

    and very very strechy

  • How do you apply the tissue? do you use a tool or this thing called dope or what?

  • to aply the tissue you need to put dope on the airplane before the tissue is on but f the dope is too thick you need to put the dodpe in another container and mix with water 50 50 then apply on plane. Put the tissue on then spray water on it to shrink the tissue so it tighs around th plane. After you finished that apply again some dope but do not put over 2 layers, it could put too much weight!

  • u should get the engine that works for it. i have the piper cheroke with the motor its awesome

  • Nicely done! I'd recommend spraying a light mist of water over the tissue paper to tighten the covering. Looks great!

  • wat is the flight time? 20 sec?

  • i just finished my fokke and im about to finish my mustang btw good job for first time my first was a wreck =D

  • i built one and i did not fly

  • Built is more fun than fly for me..

  • I built the Mustang from that series like that and used 1/20" square stringers at the rear of the fuselage and also cut "lightening holes" in the wing ribs...oh also get a longer aftermarket rubber band and use "Armourall" or "Son of A Gun" (stuff to put on vinyl car seats) to lube it and a winder made from an old hand drill.

  • In this Guillows series of models if you trim the cutouts bigger in the fuselage from behind the wing back to the tail and also after building the rudder and stabilizer trim the wood in the same manner it will drastically drop the weight behind the center of gravity to where you don't have to add near as much clay to the nose area to get it to balance and it reduces the overall weight of the model without reducing the strength.

  • i built a skyraider 4 mt 1st and it was fun i took me 5hrs strisht

  • just built this model this weekend i recommend not to use the tissue it brings it is crap it comes out all ripply i used some old guillows linen type tissue

  • hey i wanna answer your comment

"just built this model this weekend i recommend not to use the tissue it brings it is crap it comes out all ripply i used some old guillows linen type tissue"

you just spray or sprinkle some water on the tissue. it will straighten out when it dries out. just spray a tiny bit but not too much..

good luck and let me know when you post your guillows flight attempt on youtube..

  • actually it works better if you spray it with rubbing alcohol.alcohal shrinks the tissue and makes it tight as a drum

  • thanks! good tip!

  • good attempt, continues

  • I built that model, it's still in my room and still flies. That was a fun build too.

  • i paint most of mine with an airbrush! and dont use that testors wood glue use zap it its better! Other thing always use a very fine sand paper to take off the weight of the glue! Ive been building guillows for years now and thats wat i recommend! Bigger models are easier to build than the little ones btw

  • you should really use the dope but not coloured (it will heigh the model down)but use the dope on your next one!

  • Please permit me to offer a little help if it's Ok

Since building a bunch of these models over the years, one of the things I've noticed is wrinkled silkspan or tissue. When using silkspan, cut out the piece you intend to use, place it on a clean flat surface and pat it damp using a soft wet wash cloth. Paint the balsa frame with clear dope. Place the damp silkspan over the wet dope and using your fingers, stretch the fabric out gently to eliminate wrinkles. After it dries completely, dope it.

  • i just bought this today, it's my first time building one of these wood things. did it end up flying?

  • How long does it take to build

  • If you work one hour per day, 10 days...

  • man thats quick i bought a guliows hurricane its taken me 6 days working 3 hours a day and its still not finished lol

  • it takes me 4 hours but i stay on it.

  • not bad for a first build/

  • wow you suck a bluiding those get a airbush to paint it with and use super glue and zip. all mine are rc i use them for combat with my friends.

  • you should try misting the wings, it will tighten up the tissue so it's smooth

  • best video I've seen on youtube !!!

  • wow really good the first guillows i made was a p38l lighning it was awsome great vid!!!

  • thats really good, i tried to make a guillows hellcat. i made it but the covering was very hard.

  • Hi,

I have the same problem. The covering was really hard...

  • claudiolag, got to hobbycity dot com to get great deals on rc epuipment. you can but a RTF brushless lipo rc plane for $100

  • make it radio controlled

  • The next one will be...
