This is ironic considering how the Greeks neglect their Byzantine and later heritage. People watching this may not be aware that Lord Elgin bought the marbles quite legally with the permission of the Ottoman authorities who were the legal government of Greece at the time.For well over a century the Greeks were completely uninterested in them.

You guys don't bother to read the history of the marbles and you tend to make fools of yourselves. It is understandable for an Englishman not to know, because you need to study a little. We Greeks are not more clever than you, but the fact is we know the story from cradle. So read about it first and talk after. People watching this may not be aware that Lord Elgin bought the marbles quite legally with the permission of the Ottoman authorities who were the legal government of Greece at the time.For well over a century the Greeks were completely uninterested in them.
