these old MS's are a hoot--bands playing live instead of the old lypsinc, and really trying to boot-Perfect venue for a band like Cheap Trick-- a complete Rock concert in under 4 and a half minutes--no mean feat!
@msbluesky10538 ...a more symphonic way to be influenced by the beatles... i like both bands... but for the moment i better like the Trick to the Light
@msbluesky10538 yeah...it's...Hands Up! ...it's the only way to remain alive when Nielsen hold his guitar like a double-barrelled shotgun... hopefully he's too funny to shoot... apparently not everybody is Ted Nugent
Wow this is amazing. I hate all the "music" today. It's a disgrace to even call it that. I wish I was born in the 60's so I could have grown up with awesome music like this!
OMG what a rush that concert was back in '79, circa Baltimore. Patty C. agreed to go with me to hear Cheap Trick. We got into the music and then later we were totally into each other. Cheap Trick had a way of doing that to teenage guys and gals of the period. "Surrender, surrender.."
@jeff62rey Your post makes me nostalgic and sentimental. Had I known then what I know now. So many have gone on, so many lost. What a magical time it was. No cell phones, no video games, no computers, 3 stations on the tele, vinyl records, 8 tracks, big cars, gas at 50 cents a gallon. Hide - n - seek, baseball, frisbee, bicycles, mini bikes, go-carts. Things that were taboo then are normal now. Innocence is the biggest casualty of this age. We lost it long ago.
@Longhammer37214 A-M-E-N my friend. My exact feeling! When I think about the '70s, I always get the feeling that everything was simpler and we had ideals that, yes, were maybe a bit naive, but still we were believing in them and it was driving us. Now it's me me me me and me again.
Hang in there bro, at least we were there and have the memories. I actually feel sorry for the younger folks that will never experience what it was really like back then.
@Longhammer37214 yeah, that's true. I was explaining to my 5 year old son what it was like to see Star Wars back then. I think he understood because he's a fan now.
At least I have mountains of big format slides and super 8 movies from my childhood.
I'm one of those "younger folk" and I'm seriously wishing for a time machine...(not to screw up the space/time continuum or anything, but...)
Most of the music I like comes from those decades that were unfortunately way before my time and I'm always wishing that I could listen to vinyl records, wear peace signs, and see these awesome musicians in concert. You guys were so lucky - politics may have been turbulent during your time, but at least the music scene was rocking!
This song reminds me of Boogie nights(I know it is not in the movie) ..like when it's over the party ends, little bill pulls a murder suicide, and the 80's happen. Fuckity fuck fuck fuck
I love how they basically sang a sex pistols song yet they knew how to play and sing and get away with it!! NOt saying they were singing a sex pistols song, just on the same line
Cheap Trick vids should definately have more views.....must be that stupid Beiber that popped up...he kinda looks like a girl you know what I mean...LISTEN TO REAL MUSIC PEOPLE!!!!
A well written song with smart lyrics, top notch musicianship and vocals that don't sound as if the singer is straining to push out last night's dinner. What a refreshing reminder of what used the radio used to be filled with.
Btw cheap trick rules ....i listened this song for the first time 6 years ago in the movie Detroit Rock City.. Thanks to DRC my life changed in better and i know differences between good and bad
There was some great music in those days but now there's more variety and fewer bands tied into the recording contract thing like in our day. And today's kids have 50 years of great music to explore.
@CheapLick The Rock'N'Roll hall of fame is fucking bullcrap. They completely ignore Punk, Prog and Metal. Also, there is really good modern Rock music. Stuff like Black Keys, Coheed and Cambria, the Mars Volta, Mumford and Sons, Muse, Band of Skulls, Espers, Fleet Foxes, and many other great stuff.
sorry, i meant mike damone, not simone, its early morning and i`m drunk, speaking of great music, if you like this performance, i advise watching blinded by the light by manfred mann on midnight special, a great cover of the boss, went number one, or manfred mann`s one way glass, which is sampled by the prodigy track stand up, and if you know the prodigy, then you are already aware of great music
watching fast times at ridgemont high, simone singing the lyrics, you`d never see anything comparable to todays teen movies, some guy singing justin bieber trying to convince a girl to buy tickets, meanwhile she is already under the music industry`s subliminal mind control, buying his perfume and movie, wtf happend to great music
Always open even at my age to new music that has CREATIVITY. Only found in fringe, underground bands these days. Stuff like Cheap Trick captured minds and passions. Don't see that today. Prove me wrong!
Glad they did give us a shot, eve if it was quick, of the drummer. He is not only a great drummer, but had one of the classic names in rock and roll, Bun E. Carlos.
Its funny how cheap trick has two of the best lookin guys (vocalist and bassist) and two of the ugliest lookin guys ever (drummer & guitarist)... And yet, The real talent in the band lies with the same aforementioned ugly guitarist and drummer... And now Robin zander fangirls please dont flame me....you know its the truth.. :D
@Cryptorchild92 Tom Petersson (Bass) plays a twelve string bass. I play a 4 string decently well, and if someone handed me a 12 string I would probably cry a little. Petersson is definitly a good bassist, no doubt about it.
Could you help me to come true this fabulous dream? PLEASE, my dream is to be a singer I know that Im not a professional singer but I do my best and if you give me the opportunity I know that I can be that singer that im dreaming please stop by my channel “Anlimema” and check out my acapella. you have no idea how much I appreciate your support, it means the world to me.
Robin Zander was pretty fine at this time, I remember seeing AC/DC, Cheap Trick, and Kiss all in one show in Seattle in 1978...AC/DC opened (with Bon Scott!) then Cheap Trick, we were standing up near the front of the stage and I swear Robin pointed right at me when he sang "I'd meet girls like YOU!!" One of the best shows I've ever been to!!
When i watch this Amazing Clip i think of Mike Demone's Line from the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High as he is trying to scalp Cheap Trick Tickets to this girl.."Can you honestly tell me you forgot? Forgot the magnetism of Robin Zander, or the charisma of Rick Nielsen?
@cessna65423 Your comment made me laugh cause I totally forgot about that part in FTRMH. I lived in California when that movie came out and was in High school class of '84 so you could only imagine how close to home that film felt to me and my classmates. So many great lines and 80's references. It is great that film produced so many big time stars as well.
I remember this like it was yesterday! I could not believe how the band were so cool and how catchy the song was! Rick with those guitars! WOW! Lots of talent there.
In response to kbbcoop, I was at that concert at the Budokan in Tokyo when I was in the Navy. Sorry you wern't born when you prefer, but think of how much more time you still have on this earth than we do. Never give up on your time, it is the most precious thing there is.
Bands back at this time relied on nothing more than pure talent and practice.Theres no denying it.This is when rock ruled the earth. What I wouldn't give to be born in 54 instead of 74.All of these midnight special performances really show what sad state todays music is in.I hope something soon restores my faith.
@cycojay13 I was born in '58 and was a teenager in the 70's. You are so right, the music then was awesome, pure talent and lots of it! I still love the 70's bands the best...Cheap Trick, AC/DC, Raspberries, Bandfinger, Mott the Hoople, the list is endless...it was an awesome time to be young and see these bands live!!!
@Keeks4 yea i was born in 73 and god iron madden dio black sabith skid row but then they had to start the war on drugs pot was the key that brought all the music becase you write potey when your high
@Keeks4 I totally agree, I am only 8 years younger than you but remember the great music too (Van Halen 1, B-52's, Chic, KISS, The Police, Black Sabbath, P-Funk, Ted Nugent, ELO) and those great bands of the 60's too.
Bands back at this time relied on nothing more than pure talent and pratice.Theres no denying it.This is when rock ruled the earth. What I wouldn't give to be born in 54 instead of 74.All of these midnight special performances really show what sad state todays music is in.

Wow. This video has a like/dislike ratio of 999 to 9. You seldom see a ratio that's better than 100 to 1.

Am I the only one who thinks Pee Wee Herman in on the guitar?

@Keeks4 I totally agree, I am only 8 years younger than you but remember the great music too (Van Halen 1, B-52's, Chic, KISS, The Police, Black Sabbath, P-Funk, Ted Nugent, ELO) and those great bands of the 60's too.
