Seeing though that there aren't any new claims and every single one has been pounced on multiple times and pounded out of originality, science videos are no longer my interest. Personally, I don't think I'm wasting my time at all seeing all the positive feedback and getting combined with the fact that these are fun to make. I'm sorry if you disagree.

TV simulator to make make it look like video footage from old film, and then old video effect just to make it look older and to make it that color. That's pretty much it. To make it zap every now and again, just split it into tiny segments that you want "zapped" and then turn the line sync down :D
