  • EPIC Armor..

  • I wonder why the spear has both ends sharp?

  • @archis84 To steady the soldier & aid in climbing or descending in rocky, hilly terrain. To embed the spear to stand in camp. To embed the spear in terrain while it is used as a pike to defend against a cavalry charge. To be universal as a two-ended weapon in two-handed combat without a shield. To more easily fit thge spear like a lance in a leather sheath so that it could be carried upright while on horseback.

  • where'd you buy the stuff? Armor and weapons

  • i love it good work

  • My Greek congratulations to the Hoplite !

    ΕΣΣΕΤΑΙ ΗΜΑΡ !

  • what was the purpose of doing this is great great work except the shield but why

  • these hoplites are awesome. I wish i was back in the old days as one of their soldiers with courage.

  • Great way of fighting, the most honorable way for me (i'm not greek) to fight, protect your brother's left while your brother protects your right, too bad they got replaced by the pezoi thureos (thureos-wielding infantry), great armor, weapons and images, i would love to have them, also two typos: it should be "InfantrY" with a Y and the (ancient) greek name for hoplite is Hoplites (singular) and Hoplitai (plural) i'd love to have that hoplon (and the doru)

  • @jirisysklatoon

Typo: protect your brother's left while your brother protects your LEFT**

  • @jirisysklatoon hoplites never replaced. just abandoned gradually from the Macedonian Type Phalanx.(Φάλαγξ Μακεδονικοῦ τῦπου).Αnd thats the reason we were submitted to the Romans.(I am Greek). Romans with the Legions were more efficient while the Macedonian phalanx was to heavy. By having Hoplitai in the left and right of the phalanx the history would be different and the romans would be nothing.

  • @MGD230

I realize that, but they weren't using the makedonian phalanx, they were using the greek phalanx, the mak's one is formed with phalangites with the sarissa, the greeks used the Dory (or Doru) and wasn't used in Hammer and Anvil fashion, they didn't have Hippeis, but the makedonians were (IMO) very idiotics when the Diadochi wars came out, i stopped liking their strategy, since they never had brains to change it, anyway, the romans repeled Pyrrhos, what could Antigonos do? ;) =D

  • @jirisysklatoon I am not saying about the dory. I am talking for the diadochi era where the nothern Greeks forced to change their fighting style by using the Macedonian style. Northern greeks (Macedonians) used the sarisa, and so did the southern but by using a smaller sarisa. the reason for changing the fighting way and abandoning the hoplite style was because immagration towards east was massive and the mens population decreased, and therefore not good training existed for the Hoplite.

  • @jirisysklatoon Macedonian phalanx needed almost no training and that why the Classical Hoplitai abandoned. Now because history cannot be written with IF, i can say that if all the diadochi used the Phalanx like Pyrrhus did, the romans had no chance. Greeks underestimated Romans and when they realised what they could do it was too late. Finally the diadochi used each syntagma(Σύνταγμα-subunit of the phalanx) as a whole and not like Alexander didi by dividing the syntagma in many smallerformation

  • @jirisysklatoon Last, romans never won Pyrrhus... Pyrrhus lost by the Romans. It has a major difference. If you study you will see that the Greeks from Magna Graecia were not willing to abandon the easy way of life and celebrating for preparing for war. Thus, Pyrrhus never had the support and the usnits needed to win the Romans.

Only Pyrrhus and Hannibal (Aννίβας aw we call him in Greek) show that had the strenght the exterminate Rome, but both didi wrong movements.

  • adrako esys t ftiaxate ti stolh?:O

  • Love the effort but that breastplate is a bit roman like instead of greek isn't it? And why so damn shiny? It looks fake when you do it like that and it's a shame 'cause it could look great! No offense I hope.

  • @ASTERIXISM the breastplate is greek the romans got them later but the greeks had some different breastplate,s too. The armour is very shiny so it is brass-bronze- that is the original material of this timeline not like the movie,s from Warner-Brother,s.thank you for our comment.

  • @MOLONLABE480 that really depends on what type of hoplite you're talking about. the Spartans mainly wore the bronze curiass as shown in the vid, while other hoplites (Athenian, Cronithian) generaly wore the lighter leather curiass

  • @battenfelder so the problem was in this time , you have to buy our panoplia by our self, so you have mony so you can buy the expensive one from brass. so you don,t have mony so you get the cheap one from leather. or you get the linotrax ,. but the lino is an little bit more expansive like the leather one but not so expansive like the brass armour. thank you for our comment

  • @MOLONLABE480 the materials could be the same but the armor is so shiny it looks like it is a robot or something. The bronze armor in greek time must have looked darker dude ;). Great pictures. Love the hoplites concept. I am curious and want to learn about the Seleucids empire too.

  • @LucaTurilli89 Yes, I think if it is that shiny (yellow-shiny) it could be even brass but then back then brass was also used widely by both Greeks and Romans and pretty much everyone. But this clean shinny appearence indeed would be rarely achieved. One major problem of modern reconstructions is that they are made of industrial materials, i.e. metals designed for modern industry not for imitations of ancient metalwork. Another major problem is the way of production.

  • @LucaTurilli89 You can take a piece produced for example by a well known Indian maker (who provides most companies in Europe and America) which is not that bad, they even make it resemble "old" and "battle hardened" but then in the inside there are weldings and such. For presentations of reenactments it is OK but on the overall it is NOT the "real thing". I have seen helmets made out of bronze alloys close to ancient ones and made 100% on hand with no weldings...that is the real thing!

  • @ASTERIXISM actually an aristocrat θώραξ(breastplate) would shine like that.

It is very good job and i think histporically very accurate if you exclude the Corinthian helmet (περικεφαλαία) which according to my opininon is not perfect(ut very good though.)

  • i wonder y hoplites have sheilds from theigh to neck

  • Hoplites are SO sexy.

  • did you make this?

  • ^THE MOST OFR THEM:-)

  • really impressive well done

  • Greetings from Australia.

Us GREEKS are PROUD were ever we are !

  • greetings from thessaloniki!!

  • @yellow300zed I'm not proud, look what our ancestors were, how great they were. now look at whats going on with our country.. full of incompetence.

  • @iTitanium thumbs upppp!!!!!!!

  • Providing the enemy has time to grab it.The enemy is Normally dead by that time!

  • The cape might be a bit too much. It's generally annoying as heck and gives people a convenient place to grab you.

  • @halfassedfart the hoplites took the cape off before they went to war ;)

  • Ποσο κοστιζει να κανεις μια πανοπλια σαν και αυτη? Και υπαρχει καπιο μαγαζι που κατασκευαζει?

  • Thank you people for our comment,s ;-). In April mayby there is an new Armour Finished.....Mayby

  • i believed ancient greek armour all made from copper and bronze.iron so scarse only noblemen wore armour made from it.

  • this would have to be one rich hoplite to be able to outfit with this flashy armor

  • Ωραίος!

    Ελλάς ή Τέφρα

  • μου φτιαχνεις μια για μενα? σε παρακαλω;

  • Greece?

  • I love hoplites... It's a beautiful video... And a great song !

  • luce muy bien!

  • i prefer Hellenic culture of ancient greek above all. even to this day, they where way more impressive.

  • in that time fighting was honorable its facing your opponent and fighting head to head nowdays you get sniped from 2000 meters that suks

  • well in those days you got your guts split open while still breathing. that sucked too.

  • but then that would put people off war, so its good

  • man never get bored of war. the only reason there is male is because there is war. without war nature would not need man altogether. females could evolve to reproduce asexually, but another specie with a male population could reproduce and eliminate other species at the same time. that drives any specie without a male into extinction. you see, a man without a desire for war is not a man at all.

  • Revankader. Yes that,s the point You understand the desire ;-)

  • @revankader never thought of that point, but it sounds plausible! a good theory in my opinion.

  • @revankader what the fuck are you talking about? why didn't nature just give females muscles instead so they could fight they own war? and btw, how many wars have you actually fought?

  • @revankader "you see, a man without a desire for war is not a man at all." traditionally, yes. but a man standing up for mutual understanding instead of headless killing is to me a man with higher ideals. would impress any strong woman.

  • nlw00t hi dear. yes my friend the heavy infantrie in the first line use arm parts, and leg parts- femorel- too but you don,t will find much pic,s search in google i fund just one pic. see you

  • Great! I'd hate to have to fight that guy.

  • really nice vid ^^

did the greeks hoplites use that arm parts ??

  • I didn't know hoplites used axes

  • Now you know ;-)

  • those kopis look to straight they look more like falcatas, kopis bend more than its cousin

  • my sword,s are falcatas, but the pic,s are not the best to see the sword,s 100% clear. see you

  • realy imprested nice armour
