Why are the top logs being tied off in the middle rather than at the end? At 7:10 and 8:50. From the angle the video was shot at, it looks like they had room to swing their full length. I'd be worried about the cut end of the log jumping off of the cut and hitting me.
@MatthewBanchero Matt.. that is one of the main points I was trying to show and mention it in the early dialogue.. I call it "near balance point rigging". This allows a climber to reduce shock loads and thus take much bigger pieces.. the only requirement is careful co-ordination with the ground man, so the piece is let run down and away from the climber as it swings gently into the rigging.. Also note that the rotation of the pieces does not increase shock loads..
You save 400 minutes!? I think you wasted 120 minutes by sleeping in...LOL. Next video should be called get your ass out of bed earlier and go home earlier and split the WHITE oak ;)
Good job. I take it you've been doing for a few years. Very nice rope work on both ends. Tree work is an art of thought and practice. Gratz from a 40 yr treeman
I just love seeing that I had a impact...I really do. Just listen to the confidence in your voice. Your not just bullshitting your way through it..you know it.
Save yourself some time when raising and lowering your brush bandit don't waste time tying it on. Just pull the middle of the rope through the handle from the rear and loop it around the bar. Dosn't work so well with medium or large saws but the small saws like the stihl 021, homelite super 2 etc. this works great.
Nice work ! The Tulip Poplar is one of my favorite trees to remove. Seasoned spar chunks make great firewood , and trunk logs go to the mill, making the job pay three ways.
I was surprised to see Patrick use a saw, I thought at first he was a man of few words and he could eat that tree. He's a great, skilled, intelligent cutter.
Nice editing, great work in the air, and super-smooth work on the lowering device. Good music, too. (Don't know what the voice-over at 1:09 was about.)

Looks to me like you have a great team working together. Just be careful on some of those butt ends kicking up or back at you.
