I played it through (well mostly, it crashes for me right near the end, but I was pretty bored with it by then anyway), and must say its pretty bad compared to the original.

I have started playing the original again, and I must say it is superior in every way except graphics.

Which just goes to show how little graphics mean compared to gameplay, because the new one is stunning visually.

Its a good game, but too many elements from original missing

@crimson1667 You wont regret it. Its so cheap now, and except for sound and graphics it is better than this game in every single way. Gameplay, look and feel of the city, AI, weapons, cars, the fact that you can use public transport, and also that you have the free ride mode. And when you finish the game you have free ride extreme, which adds LOADS of little silly side missions, all vehicles and weapons (as well as some pretty crazy stupid vehicles), and the entire city to do what you want in.

Damn, I was really looking forward to this game, but the gameplay videos have been really dissapointing so far. My major beefs with this game:

- The lipsync is way off and looks very unnatural.

- Both ingame and cutscene animations look pretty stiff and crappy. Especially facial animation. The walking animation is rather robotic.

- The voiceacting is HORRENDOUS! ):

- Combat looks dull. Crappy shooting-mecanics + crosshair.

- Way too bright colours. Tone down the contrast please.

@07cbg1 Another example of a person that has been eating out of Rockstars ass. Red Dead is GTA IV with a bigger map, new guns and western skin. The game is a serious improvement over the most overrated game in history (GTA IV, and only overrated by critics). By the way, this game is like art, it has a beautiful art direction, it was in the 50s which was a beautiful time while Red Dead is just nothing very attractive. I am still buying both but no doubt this will be better. Quote me on that.

Combat looks far better than GTA4. You can kill 50 enemies just by blind firing and that makes the combat so easy. You can blind fire an RPG which is not realistic at all..

Honestly, this game's combat is a rip off of GTA IV. The cover system is an exact copy of the one in GTA. Also, the shooting looks much worse than GTA IV. Over all GTA is really a lot more realistic from everything to shooting to driving mechanics. I have no real problem with Mafia, but I really doubt its going to be that great. The first Mafia wasn't that amazing and this doesn't look much better.
