the thing i noticed on nvidia cards is that they don't have a sudden fall of fps...they're more stable than ati cards...i think this is where the nvidia technologies kick in :) .personally if i have an intel processor (which is the case ) I'd go with nvidia ...but an intel-nvidia high end system is pretty expensive :) . if u'd like a high-end system go with Amd-Ati.they're more cheaper .even the motherboards are cheaper ..lol :)
@NBAasDOGG Actually theres no reason in buying this video card due to the high power supply consumption. it has 2 cores but it's just a little bit faster than single core HD 5870 which has DX 11 and dx 10 equals nothing cause it's outdated. and also don't get GTX 295 unless you have a very high clocked quad core cpu clocked to 3.8 GHZ or 4.0 , either you'll experience a microstuttering issue which is simply a pain in the butt. go for 5870, i recommend it highly.

i have never heard that kind of power supply but it should be enough. they recommand 680 wat for gtx 295. do you already have the old driver installed? if you do, you have to uninstall it from control panel then download a program is called driver sweeper to completely uninstall the driver. (this process is kind of hard to explain on writing you might want to contact gigabyte to walk to step by step to install it). after you uninstall it you go to nvidia website and click on download driver

it is always good to do a complete uninstall before installing a newer version of driver. i don't know if that is the reason you only get 15-20 fps but usually drivers have a lot to do with the performance of your video cards
and if that doesn't work, you can alway send it back for RMA (Return merchandise authorization) the manufacture should replace you with another graphics card. from my personal experience gigabyte should have 3 years warranty parts and labor.

no it doesn't, it can do in some games (such s batman), but that's only because NVIDIA bought physX and made it for their cards only, instead of building GPUs that can handle it anyway, such as ATI. To me that was a stupid and extremely unethical move, as they could have invested the billions on R&D for better cards. And thats wat NVIDIA always does; if they can't join them, buy them out (eg physX, crysis, FC2(minorly))
ATIs new batch of cards have a performance advantage over nvidia now. It won't last long though, the GTX300 series will be out soon enough and take back the #1 spot from ATI... again.

What im noticing is that while ATI has the higher AVG FPS if you compare 1:35 to 1:46 it seems that the explosion really slows down and gets choppy with ATI a lot more than Nvidia which is ACTUALLY noticeable during gameplay, whereas the diff btwn. 35 fps to 45fps is not very noticeable unless u use an fps counter.
in my opinion, dual gpu cards a waste of time and money...u can get more performcne than an ati 5970 by getting 2 5870's instead..eache gpu has its own heatsink, and has a higher clock...same goes for nvidia..

I'll believe it when I see it. I have personal experience with a few cards/cpu's and know for a fact that everytime I used AMD/ATI, it made my PC room hot without overclocking. Heat will always be the biggest issue for me. I'd rather pay a few bucks more for a card that stays cool and isn't power hungry.
and please note his running windows 7 and the 295 is direct x10 and 5970 is dx11 dx10 cards seem to have lower performance in win7 wait for the 300 series where they are actually dx11
How would you know? Do you have a dx11 card? probably not. I've tried windows 7 on a 260gtx and the fps were dropped by 10-15 on crysis compared to vista
I personally don't buy Nvidia products, after having several bad experiences and seeing bad reviews of over heating problems. I have stuck to AMD & ATI hardware and my HD4850 works beautifully in my rig, and runs very cool at 35c at idle and about 50c max on a full workload. All stock coolers as well I did not need any aditional cooling methods.
HD4850 is the second/third best performance/benefit card in the market ;)
i guess it's in techpowerup that the graphs shows the 4830 as the king in CxB, followed by 9500gt and the 4850, but depending on the resolution the 4850 stays with the 2nd position ;)

295 and 5970 are dual-gpus.
5970 should be the one being compared to the 295 because of it, unless you are retarded.
Even so 5870 is behind the 295 by around 2 fps. This has been benchmarked many many times. Sapphire's Vapor-x 5870 beats 295 by a low margin.
The GTX 470/480 will both have very very high wattage, this is already bad news. Also, they won't come up with a 2x gpu in nvidia.
If you were to compare 5970 with a new nvidia card, it would have to be a 2x gpu. Too bad it won't happen.

actually as both Programing and hardware moves to multithread, which is already happening, Nvidia will fail miserably since they aren't producing a hardware model that can keep up where as ATIs massive parallel processing with be able to handle the new extremes needed Nvidia doesn't even utilize FSAA and cant which when u use direct11 become much more noticeable the truth is Nvidia is good at 1 thing, paying companies to promote their product in games so ppl who know nothing think they are king

What im noticing is that while ATI has the higher AVG FPS if you compare 1:35 to 1:46 it seems that the explosion really slows down and gets choppy with ATI a lot more than Nvidia which is ACTUALLY noticeable during gameplay, whereas the diff btwn. 35 fps to 45fps is not very noticeable unless u use an fps counter.

in my opinion, dual gpu cards a waste of time and money...u can get more performcne than an ati 5970 by getting 2 5870's instead..eache gpu has its own heatsink, and has a higher clock...same goes for nvidia..

I'll believe it when I see it. I have personal experience with a few cards/cpu's and know for a fact that everytime I used AMD/ATI, it made my PC room hot without overclocking. Heat will always be the biggest issue for me. I'd rather pay a few bucks more for a card that stays cool and isn't power hungry.

How would you know? Do you have a dx11 card? probably not. I've tried windows 7 on a 260gtx and the fps were dropped by 10-15 on crysis compared to vista

I personally don't buy Nvidia products, after having several bad experiences and seeing bad reviews of over heating problems. I have stuck to AMD & ATI hardware and my HD4850 works beautifully in my rig, and runs very cool at 35c at idle and about 50c max on a full workload. All stock coolers as well I did not need any aditional cooling methods.

HD4850 is the second/third best performance/benefit card in the market ;)
i guess it's in techpowerup that the graphs shows the 4830 as the king in CxB, followed by 9500gt and the 4850, but depending on the resolution the 4850 stays with the 2nd position ;)

actually, in GTA IV it has half of the 5970 FPS
32 to 64, and besides that, the CPU usage with the 295 stays in about 80%, and the 5970 put it on less than 30% ;o

Tat benchmark was fake, but doesn't mean the actual performance will be worse. Might be better, actually. GTX380 is single-GPU but rumored to keep up with the dual-GPU 5890.

LOL at this level theres virtualy no diference in gameplay because either goes down when the processor is needed. If Nvidias can handle some CPU on their vgas maybe doings some friendships with some companys to makes dirty things as always, like disabilitaing the CPU and many other things when the game is played with an ATI's VGA...
