  • filler cap to front pcv to rear, keith black pistons in hyper form suck, just plain junk, other than that, nice clean build. on a budget build use the speed pro hypers . thought you might want to know

  • First nothing wrong with the intake but I did notice a cast crank, did you change that to a steel crank?

  • junk that carb and manifold! only mistake

  • @73sebrougham Already did, please read the comment above.

  • was it origannaly fuel injected???

  • @MrChandlerhodge never mind i just uhh saw the carburater

  • @MrChandlerhodge Yes Sir! It was a TBI Engine...

  • @383TruckRider I'm in the process of building a 388. Was told by Jerry who owns the machine shop that if the piston rings are not file fit properly with the Kieth Blacks that they will expand and rip off the top of the piston. This my first build so any pointers?

  • Excellently done, Bravo gentlemen!

  • @Mikej1592 Thanks Mike, I appreciate your comment and of course CCR is one of my lifetime favorites!:) The failure was caused by a faulty piston ring, which expanded under heat so much that it popped off a part of the piston. When I did the engine the first time I didn't touch the pistons so the problem was already in the engine...so I found out the hard way!:D

  • wait how exactly did you blow it up. and what pistons did you use. im confused

  • Oh my

  • Guys just to inform you...I sold the Air Gap Intake and put a port matched GM Performance 10051102 aluminum high rise single plane with a 1" 4 Hole-Spacer on the Engine. The next step is to trow the Edelbrock shit in the trash an put a 850 Quickfuel Carb on the engine. And this is not a weak hydraulic flat tapped cam in the engine, its a big Mechanical flat tappet comp cam (COMP Cams CL12-678-4). Anything bigger need to be a roller...The engine is now in the 500+ League as planned! Cheers!

  • Yup, i was right. If you had anything to play with outside of yourself you would have posted it on your channel. You don't have a race car or build engines, or do anything else but talk shit on you tube. If you did you would be proud of it and showin it off instead of runnin your mouth and your probley in your teen's. So run your shit not your mouth. Your secret is out.

  • If you are following me at all you would know your compairing apples to oranges and you are clearly making comments to just piss people off. You act like drag racing is the only racing out there. Not to mention i know plenty of guys that run 1/8th &1/4 mile and i know they would agree you are talking like a horses ass. People that talk like you usually do more talking than anything else. I'm sure next your going to tell me you build 8000hp engines.

  • If you spent much time at the tracks and were aware of the rules of alot of classes you would know the rules are stricked, right down to 400-500hp engines w/stock blocks and 2 barrel carbs. There are 1000's of race cars like this. Damn your way off.

  • @Badchevee1

Holley carburetors have appeal to americans because any idiot can bolt one on. Very few racers use Holleys, just like very few racers use Chevrolet engines.

  • @aminimaleffort Holly shit are you for real? Everyone run's chevy's, mostly because they are cheaper to build. Also not just anyone can bolt on a Holly and get them to run right. They are very tunable and that throws people sometimes. Your comments are just flat out wrong and that's being nice Your comment is so far off i have to think your just trying to piss people off. Incredible!

  • @hpjunky70

most race engines are 100% aftermarket parts,

most race carburetors are modeled on holleys but have not one holley part

  • @aminimaleffort Sorry bud but your very confused. Just because it's an after market block doesn't meen it's not a Chevy or Ford or a Mopar. For instance if your building a 614 and use a dart block with all after market part's it's still a big block chevy. As far as the Holly's go, i had Advanced Engine Design (AED) custom build my carb, based on a 4150 but it's not a 750 double pumper anymore but it's still a Holly 4150.

  • @hpjunky70

try your rules in NHRA class racing. you would get tossed out in the inspection line

  • im diggin the music man sweet build wat year block is this?

  • @MRBATHTUB89 Thanks man, it's a '72 4 bolt main 0.40 over.

  • ey. i love the look of the engine.. exactly what i want 2 do 2 mine.. i have a pre smog era 327 block bored .30 over and i have barely started on the build but was planning on making it around 500hp 500 ftpnds of tq.. and i was wondering if the xtreme compcams camshaft was the equivalent of the big mutha thumpr becasue i have already purchased it?.. it would be great if you could get back to me .. thanks and again great lookin engine

  • @sikkchaos Give me the specs from that thumper then I can judge if it's comparable. thanks for the nice comment thou appreciated!

  • Nice looking build.

  • @lakewood85 Thanks I appreciated!

  • you can have 500+hp with a airgap intake? cause I got a 327 with a RPM airgap and it barely fit(very near) under my stock z28 hood! i want to build a 500hp 406ci and dont want to have a aftermarket cowl hood just to fit a SINGLE plane high rise intake!!

  • What kinda truck is it? nice job!

  • u know if you would of got the afr 220s eliminator heads and change cam to a bigger one got a victor jr intake you would be at 653hp also the heads would of cost you the same i got my heads from a guy in tn for $1976.30 with free spring upgrade.

  • @partycommandos Hi, I got a GM Performance single plane intake with a 1" 4 hole spacer on it now.

Will upgrade the carb to a Quick Fuel 750 next year, so my goal reaching the 500+ will be accomplished.

You are right bigger heads with a bigger cam would bring me 600+ but the tranny and all the other parts are made for 500 HP so I'm sticking to my 500+ mouse! Thanks though..

  • @partycommandos

so everyone should build a maximum power engine?

  • @aminimaleffort u need to build what ever floats your boat !!!! in today's modern technology it is easy to get 650hp on pump gas now and still be cost efficiant and with this technology we able to take a mouse to new levels of hp that was once not capable of doing. for instance my heads i bought last year are old news and now afr has got even better ones to replace mine plus there killer molded 2pc intake to help on cooling. so allready my engine is outdated so build max hp before its outdated

  • @partycommandos

did it occur to you that the engine owner may not have wanted maximun hp?

  • @aminimaleffort well he said in his post that he wanted serious hp and since we have damn near the exact same parts list i suggested what i am putting in mine to reach serious hp and his response was that his tranny and all other parts are made for 500hp so i am sure if his stuff was rated for more hp he would of went that route.

  • @partycommandos

    sure he would of

  • @partycommandos True words!:)

  • how would you determine the correct timing for a modified engine like that??

  • @crazylazy03 Start with a good baseline around 32° and then work your way up until it starts pinging.

This engine is timed at 34° right now, might go up to 36° but I'm not pushing it cause it's not finally tuned.

  • @LoNgBeAcHfIvEsIxTwO its a 350. with a different crank. giving it a longer stroke. and putting the displacement up to 383. hope that kinda helped.

  • @LoNgBeAcHfIvEsIxTwO Google is your friend buddy!

  • hey badchevee1, I have a 383 with 195cc afr's on it 10.5:1 custom hyd. roller cam edlebrock rpm intake adn it made 522hp at 6100rpm!!!! i would say he has more than 400hp my cam aint much different than the one hes using. same duration i just have tighter lobe seperation that why only 6100 out of it but it is making 485ft. lbs at 2800rpm. very impresive head. i bet hes real close to 500 at the motor.

  • I Take back my comment about it being 450ish HP, after watching EVERY video of yours, id say its around 400hp at the most.....

  • @Badchevee1 Hey thanks for the comments, but all other videos are with the old Engine, and that made at the most 300 HP with some luck! Go to the AFR Website...they have some setups for 383 Stroker posted...and they made 500 Horses with 9.5 compression.

  • @Badchevee1

wow, it is amazing how you can measure hp watching videos!

  • @aminimaleffort its not amazing, its simply knowing what parts make what for HP.... Ive been around engines all my life. Watch his other video of this engine running, and tell me thats 500HP... i dont think so.

  • @Badchevee1

25 years old, yah, you are an expert.

  • @aminimaleffort Never said i was now did i? LMAO..... But come on, 383ci, AFR alum. heads and a wimpy HYDRAULIC FLAT TAPPET cam.. I just dont see an honest 500+HP on a dyno... Not with that combo.. Maybe with a more aggressive ROLLER cam, A better intake manifold and a better carburetor( meaning a holley) ....

  • @Badchevee1

what makes a Holley carburetor better?

  • @aminimaleffort What doesnt make a Holley better?... Holley Carbs are the BEST performance carburetors out there.

  • @Badchevee1

now you are really showing your lack of experience and ignorance.

  • @Badchevee1 Good answer

  • Very nice build, but i dont see 500 + HP coming from it

  • @Badchevee1 Go to AFR'S Website...the have prove of Dynosetups there...my is running on 10.5 Compression and on 95 Octane Gas...It will make 500+ outside of the car on the dyno. It's a whole different story in the car with all the accessories connected, thats for sure.

  • @383TruckRider Oh i know all about AFR heads, we have AFR 195s on an 11:1 388ci with a solid roller cam, it made 499HP ON THE DYNO....... I bet yours is closer to 450ish though, still a good set-up... What cam are you running?

  • @Badchevee1 Thanks for the post, I'm running a COMP Cams CL12-678-4 Mechanical flat tappet with the 1.6 rockers...

  • how do like the e-curve? im thinking about getting one for mine

  • @klsnr1 Can absolutely recommend it, very good to run without a box.

  • @lgrumour1 Thanks man, good luck on your rebuilt! The block I uses is a 72...so not so far apart!;)
