"He who has the Holy Spirit in him, to however slight a degree, sorrows day and night for all mankind(with tears). This heart is filled with pity for all God’s creatures, more especially for those who do not know God, or who resist Him and therefore are bound for the fire of torment. For them, more than for himself, he prays day and night, that all may repent and know the Lord."

@Thinking Guy100. May I suggest you look into Qi Gong. The ancient Taoist breathing practice which is the basis of all Yogic and meditative pracise? @devpriyalife there is a difference between the autonomic breathing we do everyday & learning to control your breath. we don't think about breathing and when we are stressed, upset, in pain, etc. our breath is the first thing to become strained but it is the precursor of life. Vedic Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism) is Oldest Religion on this Earth...more than 5000Years Old...

@jaycolo99 As a Theosophist, I compare religions to see the truth in each. I think that what Krishna is getting at is that one has to have the perspective of all things to know the true nature of reality.
@jaycolo99 I believe that labeling our beliefs is a hypocritical act, and our purpose is to attain our individual enlightenment in silence. We are all One.
We are advised that most planets are colonized by advanced star nations which would explain many anomalies of science and religion. It was written by Carl Jung about Confucius that when he discovered the 'I Ching' he carried it with him for consultation till the end of that lifetime. He no doubt added to its wisdom but the fact remains that it was around and active before his time. The star nations influence us more than is commonly known. This will change soon.
OM to the world and to those "enemies" who by their actions and learnings become our best teachers and to those loved ones who help us on our path towards the next cycle...OM
I didn't know all that about the "Om" word... I may add that to my meditation, since I'm just starting to do that now. My life has been greatly improved by taking time to clear my thoughts.
Outside, it's just started to snow again. There's a squirrel on the bird feeder. He's holding on by his hind feet and swinging away. After each mouthful, he does an upside down chin up, and grabs another pawful of bird food. He's a little trapeze artist. He'll do dozens of chin ups and yet he's fat as can be. There's another squirrel with a red tail and a couple cardinal mates perching in the cedars. The male ruffles the snow from his coat and starts up with Molly about chasing the sparrows.
hinduism isnt a religion..or sanathana dharmam...its a way of living inculcating peace and harmony..there is no founder for this way of living...it simply exists
it is not very spiritual to compare. religions are neither good or bad. Self and other are interdependent. We will -finally- meet where the you and me cease to exist. We ont see the things as they are, we see them as we are. Be well and practise well.

God is Love In Action, not feeling all warm and fluffy inside. Talk to God with your own voice, just the same as you would talk to a friend. And beware any religion that tells you anger is a bad thing. Human beings are blowing each other up in the name of God - be angry at that. Humans are treating other humans as if they were dirt - be angry at that; dont just say 'om' and hope that things will get better. You might as well say ' everyone should just, like, do an e, and, like, get along'.
Finding stillness thru' chanting is fine, but does it get you any further down the road? I don't believe it does. I believe the feeling of peace it gives you makes you complacent and cozy, and makes you THINK that you are advancing spiritually when, in fact, you are standing still.
Oh please, people; look, the video was beautiful and the music was lovely, but humanity will not be saved by a bunch of blissed-out, superstitious zombies. AUM is just a sonic symbol for birth-growth-death-birth-growth etc etc. It's the pattern that all forms of life that we know of seem to follow: it's nothing to base a religion on, and acknowledging the circular nature of organic life does not mean that you are the holder of some arcane truth.
@captainsurfcaster beautiful music here first of all, secondly i believe this is what clears blockage in your path what ever that path may be..maybe your stuck or have something thats stuck in your path, just saying try to get it out,and love more thats what causes elevation love and only love, after hearing this how can anyone still harbor bitterness unless they work really hard to be bitter, everything is a choice,i choose love regardless of what others or even you may say.Lastly thanks@ life
Hold on - gaspingblue reckons that Hinduism is the highest way. Why dont you both have a chanting contest? That will surely prove which religion is the best, won't it?
@ikaEr32 .. ...oho!!! ...that's not a valid reson... my frnd....i m a hindu and have many frnds following buddhism...n they also behaves like a greedy or clever cheaters ...but that does'nt mean buddhism is lower than hinduism ....change ur mentality my frnd....all religions are equal and keep in mind ' whole universe sustain by only one supreme almighty' ....he is one and have no religion at all...
@sunny007ism exactly... religion/spirituality is only the peephole I choose to look into the great and awesome awareness of everything and nothingness. the creator of all things and the essence in everything I am sure doesn't care which peephole we are looking through, as long as we are looking...
@ikaEr32 I usually don't seperate the two so much but consider Buddhism to be a branch of Hinduism. That's just my personal opinion though, so no offense to Buddhists. The teachings of the Buddha closely parallel Hindu philosophy, and the two are interchangeable.
@vastawake Hinduism far surpasses the beautiful and mystical system known as Taoism (or any other ism) in ancientness. Taoism and Buddhism have their roots in Hinduism. The concept of Tao is called "Rita" in Sanskrit, a term found in the Vedas which are over 8,000 years old. Lao-Tsu was a great mystic, one the world should be grateful for.
Actually, it could be argued that Taosim was influenced by Hinduism, as Taoism dates back only to 300-400 B.C. Hinduism/Brahmanism/Vedism dates back to a MINIMUM of 1300-1500 B.C. Others point to evidence suggesting that it is at least 3,100 years B.C. when Krishna was born, and possibly 5,000 years B.C.E. when Ramachandra was born. The umbrella of what we now call "Hinduism" is very, very, old, certainly the oldest continuous religious tradition on the planet.
@TheVishveshwara Not sure where you are getting the 300-400BCE dates for Taoism. Many people may believe Taoism and it's principles began with the Taoist sage Lao Tzu. This is simply not so. His book the Tao Te Ching is one of the 2 best known works of Taoist literature. Taoist sages however, are credited with some of the first discoveries in herbology & alchemical medicine in China circa 10,000BCE. Agreed, Hinduism IS an older religion. Taoism is only a spiritual tradition of living. Peace
@TheVishveshwara Thanks for all the great information on Hinduism. I really appreciate it. Personally, I believe that all of the world's spiritual and religious traditions are practised for the same reasons (in their true forms). Every human has principles encoded in our DNA when we are born but it is human nature to want to quantify and qualify and to be on the 'winning team'. The cosmic joke is we are all on the winning team! Keep up the good work. God Bless. Peace be with you. Namaste.
It could have gone either way though. Taoism actually dates much farther back than 300 bc. in 300 bc lau tzu was responsible for the philosophical reconstruction of Tao but Foo Shee way before Lau Tzu spoke of the Tao. As an idea it already had existed, Lau Tzu simply gave it the image we all know.
@iamaflyingsquid Foo Shee is the correctly translated English way of spelling Fu Xi (Hsi). Fu Xi from my understanding may have been a collection of sages. But the Taoist origins seemed to be shrouded in mystery and original texts didn't survive or weren't created as were the Vedas of Hinduism. I love the study of all spiritual and religious traditions and think they all stem from the same source so whatever works in our life today is more important than the chicken v.s. egg debate I hope.
@iamaflyingsquid Thx. friend. I posted a similar reply to many who seem to think Lau Tzu founded Taoism. Taoist alchemists are credited with some of the uses of medicinal herbs circa 10,000 BCE. My original post was mainly to suggest it doesn't matter what we call it or how we see it... It's too big for any of us to completely grasp. There are as many paths as people. It doesn't matter how we find or what we call the unnamable source of ALL. It just be & so do we. Peace all. Love this track
Texts don't come from texts, nor teachings from teachings. Truth comes from the inner realizations of the sage, filtered through the lens of his cultural and chronological position. Lao Tzu was an enlightened man, as was Shakyamuni Buddha, as were the numerous rishis and gurus of the Indian teachings. None of them needed to borrow from others in order to come to the same conclusion through mystical exploration.
@tentacleorgy I don't believe I stated anything about texts arising from texts. Lao Tzu is NOT the original taoist sage but did write one of the first Taoist texts. Everyone that has argued with a post that I wrote specifically about Taoist principles seems to assume that he was. I will agree with you that all spiritual and religious traditions emanate from the same source and therefore they all simultaneously borrow - teach, enlighten one another.
@jaycolo99 Vedic traditions have a clearer written tradition, this is true, but the Taoist practises have been shrouded in mystery and passed by teaching more so than through written record. The written record of Hinduism does predate the written records of Taoism but as to which chicken hatched which egg first, it's debateable. And as I stated in many other posts. It matters not. Practise what suits you and be well.
@vastawake that is incorrect. hinduism suggests multiple ways for transcendence. the way (ie yoga ie discipline of actions) of the body (or selfless work) , the way of selfless love / devotion, the way of meditative and physical austerities/ ascetism/ rituals and the way of knowledge / mind. Buddhist practices are most similar to the way of the mind and the way of austerities.
@vastawake That's not correct. Hinduism is the root of this philosophy and Buddhism also uses the same philosophy. Taoism and Daoism came were late and their roots lie in Buddhism and not the other way around.
@ThinkingGuy100 I believe that the information you may be finding on Taoism and it's origins may be misplaced. Many, many people believe and it is quoted many times falsely on the net that Lao Tzu is the father of Taoism. he was an important philosopher yes but the Taoist practices, such as alchemy medicine, the I Ching divination method and meditation practices have been around since 10,000 BCE. I didn't write the post to argue over which came first the chicken or the egg...
@vastawake and a correction: the meditation practices are originated from the shramana tradition and not vedas. Shramanas did not accept the authority of the vedas. The different types of yoga are well described in Bhagwad Gita.
@ThinkingGuy100 I believe that the information you may be finding on Taoism and it's origins may be misplaced. Many, believe & it is quoted many times falsely on the net that Lao Tzu is the father of Taoism. he was an important philosopher yes but the Taoist practices, such as alchemy medicine, the I Ching divination method and meditation practices have been around since 10,000 BCE. I didn't write the post to argue over which came first the chicken or the egg... but these traditions share roots
@vastawake Your comment was wrong on many levels.Hindus and buddhists were not influenced by taoist practices. It was the other way around.Vedas were written 1000 years before I ching. The meditation practices as practiced today are described for the first time in the vedas and in the bhagawad gita in detail. This is not chicken and egg situation as you would like to make it out to be.The entire meditation practice (for both mind and body) is from hindu books not buddhist.
@ThinkingGuy100 I appreciate your knowledge of the Hindu traditions but your knowledge of Taoism and it's time line is off as it DID NOT originate in books. The I Ching practice of divination began long long before the book was ever committed to paper. Yes I agree the Vedic traditions have a longer written historical record. Taoist practices have always been passed through mysticism but rightness & wrongness are all perception so I am not here to argue. all these practices are about peace
@ThinkingGuy100 I appreciate your suggestion that I read the Bhagwad Gita as I am very into exploring new ways of looking at meditation and spiritual practice in general. I appreciate your knowledge and our discussions here. Thanks for your patience, insights and understanding.
@vastawake the trancendance through mind and body is a single science it comes from ancient hinduism books such as Vedas and Bhagwad Gita. Please read before making the wrong statements.
@vastawake Your comment: "The principles of Buddhism and Hinduhism have their roots in Taoism or Daoism"!!!
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. You have a great sense of humour!!! Please learn a bit more about religions and traditions. Taoism and Hinduism are not linked in anyway at all!! Chinese current generation is a mix of Taoism and Buddhism. Buddhism is an offshoot of Hinduism because Buddha (Gautama Siddhartha) himself was a Hindu "Kshatriya"!! Educate yourself and dont get too confused!!
Om is not attained through direct effort. As long as you persue it, it will elude you. Do not reflect upon it, but simply listen. Become absorbed in it. Do not fear dissolution of ego, but surrender yourself completely. When the time is right, you will merge with the Infinite and understand.
@bindasbolre Absolutely correct.Hinduism is all about spirituality, peace, tranquility, love&happiness. No wonder it has been around for millenias. The recent religions have only brought about pain, bloodshed, fear & terror.Let the citizens of our world introspect on this fact.May there be peace on earth & let us all live & let live. After all God Almighty has destined us to go through our journey on this planet so why not do it happily.
@bindasbolre All religions derive from the same universal wisdom that any of us can obtain. Mantras are one key but so is awareness of ourselves and our surroundings, focusing on every detail of the present moment. OM is good for awakening the heart chakra and if practiced consistently (perhaps an hour a day), lots of benefits can be witnessed. The vowels of nature have certain helpful vibratory effects on our bodies.
Respond to this video... If AUM has existed since the birth of the universe, how can it be a 'wonderful gift by Hinduism'? It's just a symbol, it is not sacred.
Whenever you feel unwell, listen and sound out this sacred syllable with the video for as long as you can and you will see how you will balance yourself not only on the physical but all other levels too. A 'miracle' medicine and it is all for free. A gift to you from the Universe.
Om is derived from 3 letters- A U M. A represents BRAHMA, the god of creation. U represents VISHNU, god of sustainment. M represents MAHESH/shiv, god of destruction.
AUM also represents A- Alpha, M- OMega, and U are in the middle.
Many layers. And the West is part of the alchemy, as their is a cosmic geometery to the Western Alphabet, by which Alpha begets the Cosmic Cycle of Creation along the Circular Circuit of BE-COM-in the OM.
In Sanskrit? You're talkiing out of your hole, my friend. It's not the letters that are significant, it is the SOUNDS. The A ( AAH ) is open and uncontrolled, full. It symbolises new life, bursting with energy. The 'U' signifies life getting older. The final 'M' ( mmmm ) is the death of the 'A' - it is pinched and closed. Some say that the AUM should actually have an 'N' on the end, as the sound 'nnnn' has even less life than the sound 'mmm'. Then, back to 'aaaahhhh'; new life.
@adinaelena2008 you can easily find a program which allows you to download youtube videos with google, and a program for converting the flv to a mp3 or recording the sound off the video by recording from your soundcard.
Its really Amazing !!!!!!!!!!!....Just plug the earphone in your ears, close your eyes and listen this sound............I guarantee you will reach HIMALAYAS !!! though you may never go there in practical , but you get an experience sitting right here.!!!!!
Thank you !!!! Lifesutras for sharing this videos....I loved it.!!!!!!!!

You might as well say ' everyone should just, like, do an e, and, like, get along'.
captainsurfcaster 1 year ago
Finding stillness thru' chanting is fine, but does it get you any further down the road? I don't believe it does. I believe the feeling of peace it gives you makes you complacent and cozy, and makes you THINK that you are advancing spiritually when, in fact, you are standing still.
captainsurfcaster 1 year ago
Oh please, people; look, the video was beautiful and the music was lovely, but humanity will not be saved by a bunch of blissed-out, superstitious zombies. AUM is just a sonic symbol for birth-growth-death-birth-growth etc etc. It's the pattern that all forms of life that we know of seem to follow: it's nothing to base a religion on, and acknowledging the circular nature of organic life does not mean that you are the holder of some arcane truth.

vastawake 11 months ago

Peace
vastawake 11 months ago
@TheVishveshwara Thanks for all the great information on Hinduism. I really appreciate it. Personally, I believe that all of the world's spiritual and religious traditions are practised for the same reasons (in their true forms). Every human has principles encoded in our DNA when we are born but it is human nature to want to quantify and qualify and to be on the 'winning team'. The cosmic joke is we are all on the winning team! Keep up the good work. God Bless. Peace be with you. Namaste.
vastawake 11 months ago
@TheVishveshwara

@iamaflyingsquid
excuse me, Fu Xi
iamaflyingsquid 11 months ago
@iamaflyingsquid Foo Shee is the correctly translated English way of spelling Fu Xi (Hsi). Fu Xi from my understanding may have been a collection of sages. But the Taoist origins seemed to be shrouded in mystery and original texts didn't survive or weren't created as were the Vedas of Hinduism. I love the study of all spiritual and religious traditions and think they all stem from the same source so whatever works in our life today is more important than the chicken v.s. egg debate I hope.
vastawake 10 months ago
@iamaflyingsquid Thx. friend. I posted a similar reply to many who seem to think Lau Tzu founded Taoism. Taoist alchemists are credited with some of the uses of medicinal herbs circa 10,000 BCE. My original post was mainly to suggest it doesn't matter what we call it or how we see it... It's too big for any of us to completely grasp. There are as many paths as people. It doesn't matter how we find or what we call the unnamable source of ALL. It just be & so do we. Peace all. Love this track
vastawake 10 months ago
@vastawake
None of them needed to borrow from others in order to come to the same conclusion through mystical exploration.
tentacleorgy 10 months ago
@tentacleorgy I don't believe I stated anything about texts arising from texts. Lao Tzu is NOT the original taoist sage but did write one of the first Taoist texts. Everyone that has argued with a post that I wrote specifically about Taoist principles seems to assume that he was. I will agree with you that all spiritual and religious traditions emanate from the same source and therefore they all simultaneously borrow - teach, enlighten one another.

jaycolo99 10 months ago 2

@pnair786 thanks for the info.
vastawake 8 months ago

I didn't write the post to argue over which came first the chicken or the egg...
vastawake 7 months ago
@vastawake and a correction: the meditation practices are originated from the shramana tradition and not vedas. Shramanas did not accept the authority of the vedas. The different types of yoga are well described in Bhagwad Gita.

vastawake 7 months ago
@vastawake Your comment was wrong on many levels.Hindus and buddhists were not influenced by taoist practices. It was the other way around.Vedas were written 1000 years before I ching. The meditation practices as practiced today are described for the first time in the vedas and in the bhagawad gita in detail. This is not chicken and egg situation as you would like to make it out to be.The entire meditation practice (for both mind and body) is from hindu books not buddhist.
ThinkingGuy100 7 months ago
@ThinkingGuy100 I appreciate your knowledge of the Hindu traditions but your knowledge of Taoism and it's time line is off as it DID NOT originate in books. The I Ching practice of divination began long long before the book was ever committed to paper. Yes I agree the Vedic traditions have a longer written historical record. Taoist practices have always been passed through mysticism but rightness & wrongness are all perception so I am not here to argue. all these practices are about peace

Om is not attained through direct effort. As long as you persue it, it will elude you. Do not reflect upon it, but simply listen. Become absorbed in it. Do not fear dissolution of ego, but surrender yourself completely. When the time is right, you will merge with the Infinite and understand.

@arachoborane11

Death said: 'The word the Wedas extol, austerities proclaim, sanctities approach - that word is Om.
'That word is eternal Spirit, eternal distance; who knows it attains to his desire.
'That word is the ultimate foundation. Who finds it is adored among the saints.
