  • People keep asking about this song, where they can get it and so on. It's linked in the extended edition (but not the theatrical edition) to *The Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King*, the scene called "The Houses of Healing". It's available on CD by getting Howard Shore's (composer/conductor with the London Philharmonic in this case) *complete* [multiple discs, not the edited one] music from *The Return of the King* soundtrack in all the usual outlets. Expensive but worth it for this song.

  • Beautiful! Singing and looks, she does look like a beautiful elf

  • Lovely!

  • Oh, that's her voice?? Wow, very beautiful!

  • Wow! she really can sing.

  • Where I can find lyrics?

    I love this song... :)

  • Her father's name is Steven, not Stephen.

  • Daughter of Steven Tyler has her own set of lungs! Love it, love the clips, beautifully made, gorgeous!

  • Arwen and Aragorn being finally being together after all the toil they were forced to endure from the very begining brings a tear to my eye. They're just like Luthien and Beren...

  • So Beautiful , shes a real angel walking this earth. . .

  • I love, love, love what you did with this video! Absolutely breathtaking!

  • i just wonder why peter jackson was not very happy of wat Liv Tyler did???

  • I'm not too surprised Liv sings this wonderfully, her dad is the leader singer of Aerosmith after all! :)

  • Wow never knew this was Liv either.

    She sings beutifuly.

  • what the name of the song in background when aragon and arwen r on the bridge in the fellowship wen they r with the elves??

  • That part of the film score comes from Enya; and it is Enya's voice singing a

brief romantic theme called "Aniron" (I Desire).

  • @bookkeeper57 I just listened to the Enya one, and you hear a very clear difference in the voices. Liv has a softer, higher sound/tone to her voice, whereas Enya has a stronger, more defined and almost operatic tone to her voice. I literally just listened back and forth. The song may be written by Enya, but this version was not sung by her; it doesn't sound like her voice at all.

Anyway, love this song. Liv has a gorgeous voice!

  • it should have ended witht the wedding

  • Tolkien is english not american !!!!

There 's no "happy end" in the LoTR !

It is not a fairy Tail.

This is the story of the Middle Earth with all her pains and tragedies.

We had to know that Frodo would never feel peace again on the Middle Earth.

We had to see his departure for Tol Eressea.

We had to see him vanish away and never come back, see the elves leaving this world and let it without any charm and magic any more.

  • it is actually Liv Tyler, Enya was only featured in the soundtrack for Fellowship of the Ring ;o)

  • not it is´nt! it´s liv tyler! If you watch the 2disk special edition you can see liv recording it.

  • Hi Rosie21114 thanks.. i would like do it but my p.c doesn`t have the type of sofware for this at the moment.. maybe very soon : )

  • I never knew this was Liv Tyler. Liv has a beautiful voice.

  • OMG! She has THE MOST beautiful voice EVER!

and i love! what she did in the movie and made it sound all ...mystified :D

i wish I could sing like her..

  • Steven Tyler's daughter ;)

  • wooooooooow........=O

  • What a WONDERFUL voice Liv has!!!

The addition of "The Houses of Healing" to ROTK was a GREAT decision by Peter Jackson!! This scene has SUCH depth to it and only ADDS to the movie's plot!

One of my FAVORITE songs from the trilogy's soundtracks!!!!

  • I really enjoyed seeing the full version of lord of the rings, it is much longer but there are several unedited scenes!! , i suggest to see the whole version because there is also the complete version of Galadriel song and ect.. : )

  • Ohhh is there a possibility that you can post them on youtube? I would love to see them.

  • I would like to post these unedited scenes but i don`t have the right software on my pc, i will try to describe you some of it.. one of my favourite unedited scenes is when they show the '"hobbits life style " another is when Aragon sings an elf poem to Arwen thinking that this is the his situation, he also explains that his age is 87 because he belongs to one of a very few lucky men who remain blessed with a path by the elfs! there are other lovely scenes to see ! ..

  • m00ngaz, I would really enjoy to see those unedited scenes. Please let me know when you have completed & posted them. Thank you!

  • Liv Tyler's not bad...

  • Does anybody know where i can find this song? Is it on "the return of the king the complete recordings"? That's the only soundtrack i don't have...

  • yep. get it, you absolutely will not regret it :)

  • I did not!! got it last week, I adore the music!!

  • Is really Liv Tayler the one singing?

  • Yeah!! it's amazing!!

  • The solo voice is Liv Tyler: I was floored by how many of these ACTORS could sing, in this film.

  • I'm amazed!

  • she sounds nothing like Amy lee...

  • oh I was watching another video like this one but the song was taking over me by evanescence so I got confused!

  • ARWEN *.* I LOVE YOU *.*

  • oh sorry i hadn't realized you'd know this was supposed to be Eowyn's song. sorry! scratch my last comment...

  • Doesn't ANYONE realize this is supposed to be Eowyn's song, not Arwen's? Proof: 0:33 the water splashing sound is same as when Aragorn was healing Eowyn and dipped the cloth in the water. More proof: 0:56 when you hear the loud breathing that's when Eowyn is suddenly awake again.

  • Yes I remember! And the breathing is Eowyn waking up isn't it?

  • Yes: Eowyn starts breathing again, in the House of Healing, as Aragorn swathes her sword arm in athelas. Part of the extended edition.

  • is it really that hard to believe this is liv singing? you guys do remember who her father is right?

  • Come on people....how hard is it to check your spelling...too many good points being ruined by grammatical and contextual errors...

And yes it is Liv Tyler.

Pay no heed to the naysayers.

  • BASICALLY, if you know ''most stuff'' then you wouldn't know that it was Liv Tyler that sang this then would you? Because that isn't ''most stuff'' it's certain stuff about Lord of the Rings. Go and watch the extended version and listen carefully to the part where she says she was upset that they didn't put it in the film. BASICALLY, jtkc16 don't be so rude in saying that i shouldn't post vids if i put ''fase'' information.

  • @xXxelfmadxXx haha thats how i found out was through the extended version

  • er..... well you just made an idiot of yourself..... liv did sing this n if u watched the other kinda extra two dvds youd know that ....... :D

  • It doesn't even sound like Enya

  • hey, just let it go..... hee who hee

  • That's 'cause it's not!

It's Liv Tyler who plays Arwen!

    xD

  • Liv was crushed that it didn't make it into the theatrical version of the movie! So glad for her that they put it in the extended =) was a great moment, the whole house of healing part was fantastic

  • WOW...Liv has an AWESOME voice!!

I think the addition of 'The Houses of Healing' was my FAVORITE part of the extended footage in the director's cut of 'Return Of The King'!!

What a GREAT song!! MOST impressive...especially knowing that Liv is the singer!!

  • Oh i really love this song, but i have the soundtrack of the return of the king, but this song isn't in the cd!! damn! i want to have this song! does anybody know haw can I have it?

  • Wonderfoul *____*

She'so beautiful and a good actress!! Lol

  • really in this song Liv is singing???

  • Yeah, you can recognize her voice.

  • Where can I find this song?

  • what is the name of the song?

  • yeah. I love listening to the soundtrack to RoTK. Howard Shore is a genious!

  • GORGEOUS!!!! Which proves my never ending opinion that Liv Tyler is the most beautiful woman inside and out!!! ^_^ If only she were gay too....*sigh

  • its the song what plays in the background of the extenderd verson of return of the king

where eowern dies eomeir finds her

and aragorn brings her back to life think it was linked with arwens and his powers

  • The hands of a king are the hands of a healer

  • you do know she doesnt die right???

    she's just sick

  • Beautiful.

  • she has got a wonderful voice I love this song

  • l o v e h e r <3

  • I gotta say that I think Arwen is my perfect dream girl. I have yet to see a more beautiful woman, not to mention that she is kind and caring, too. All of this, of course, is the movie version of Arwen. I don't know what Liv Tyler herself is like. Not that you needed to know any of what I just said.

  • i am not suprised she has an exceptional voice i mean her father is stephen tyler

  • wow, so she actually sing it! wpw

  • Amazing!!

  • Does Liv Tyler really sing this?

  • Yes, it's true, saw it in the extra material.

The song is with in the extended version of the film to :)

  • Wow! I didn't know she had such a beautiful voice... same with Enya!

  • Where did this song come from?

  • Oh never mind, the Houses of Healing. It's great!

  • Amazing Voice :3

  • OMG!!!I didn't know she was such a brilliant singer.Her voice is just like...heaven ;-)

She should do a musical some day.

  • Love the song, Love Liv Tyler as Arwen........ so beautiful :P But yes, slow it down... more dreamy ....

  • This song is one of the most captivating songs of the trilogy.

Nice video, purhaps a little slower as I felt that it was too quick for the song.

  • I'm pretty sure this song is in the extended special edition of the movie, right when Aragorn heals Eowyn after the seige of Gondor

  • My fav song outa whole 3logy! Most Tolkienesque.

  • love this song - nice job on the vid!

one of the best i've seen!

  • two or three steps more and she'll be like her father...

  • omg, this is such a beautiful song...I always imagine Arwen singing this to her child or something and then dies at the end because she speaks of trees turning and not being able to hold someone. This is just my imagination though...

  • After the death of Aragorn in the year 120 of the Fourth Age, Arwen returns to Lothlorien. She dies on Cerin Amroth (a hill) on which she married Aragorn on Midsummers Eve in 2980.

    So romantic.

  • Actually, I think it's like this: she sings it to her youngest child just after Aragorn dies before she leaves him and goes to Cerin Amroth, where she finally passes away. You can read about this in the appendice at the back of 'The Return of the King'.

  • This voice is the most beautiful.

I love Arwen!! This is my favourite character.

  • is it really liv tyler singing??

  • is beautiful es hermoso i loved me encanta

  • idiot.

  • Where can I get this song? It is perfect!

  • Extended soundtrack

    Or torrent sites do it

  • Wow, Liv has a great voice! She is so talented.

  • Excellent vdeo!!pls tell me the name of the song!!!

  • I wish this song had been on the movie sound track it was so beautiful.

  • I'm glad that arwen's song was incorporated into an Arwen and Aragorn vid. it's the way it shoulda been in the movie. well done.

  • This is an absolutely wonderful video..

Especially love the bit where the Evenstar smashes and it cuts to her crying from Two Towers. Liv has such a beautiful voice..

  • i know, her voice is the most beautiful voice ive ever heard...

  • yeah, it's so peaceful and smooth. It sounds just like elves voices are supposed to.

Like a calm stream flowing down a hill . . . *sigh* It makes me want to go to sleep.

  • i really love this song. it's such a shame that this song is so freaking hard to find

  • there's no fantasy film to match this masterpiece by peter jackson...

  • Thank you sooooooo much for posting this. The video is perfect. Everytime I hear this,in my opinion, too short of a melody, it does something to my spirit. I wish it were longer...much, much longer.

  • This song was great. Liv Tyler made it even better when SHE sang it.

  • An exquisite song and overall video! Thank you for posting this.

  • when i first found out the Liv Tyler sang this song, it didn't surprise me. Her beauty is unmatched. Great collaboration of scenes from the movies, and beautiful song.

  • In Liv Tyler's case greatness definitely did not skip a generation. She and her father rock!

  • In the credits of the movie this song is called A shadow lies between us...anyway, it is one of the most beautiful pieces of the lotr-music.Too bad, taht it is not contained in the soundtrack-cd.

The Video is absolutely excellent, probably the best I saw on YouTube and the ending fits very well, not only to the text of the song, but also to the story of Aragorn & Arwen...Thank you

  • lov liv tyler, mostly because she has the same name as my mom. lol hahahahaha 'liv' is norweigan for 'vow of god' coolio, eh? .. u prolly dont care..hahah, just thought i should enlighten you...jklol

  • such a beautiful song. this is a great video! excellent job! is this the full version or is there more? i dont see it on the soundtrack and what's the name of this song? is it Houses of Healing or A Shadow Lies Between Us? Liv's voice is so beautiful!

  • she has such a good voice

  • it's very good...i love it

  • Very beautiful.

  • wow she has such a beautiful voice and you did a remarkable job on this video..i really like the ending its so sad!!!

  • Just beautifull

    Arwen was my favourite caracter

    :D

  • This was a beautiful vid ^^ the music was lovely, and the clips used were perfect! Bravo!

  • Liv has such a beautiful voice. It's a shame the scene with it was cut from the original version of the movie. Thank god for those special extended DVDs! Haha.

  • The song is called The Houses of Healing. I found it on Limewire, but not on Ares.

  • i love this song and video good job

  • whats the songs name

  • I'm cryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

    so beautiful video T.T

  • It's so sad that they cut this scene from the original movie. Liv's voice is so beautiful. And it's definately her, by the way....the extended edition commentary says so.

  • beeeautiful

  • i found the song by mistake...too bad that's so short :((

  • how do I get this song? its not on itunes

  • I love the scene in the EE when they get Liv Tyler to sing over the pieces they cut of Eowyn in the houses of healing and the 'hands of a king' - she really does have a beautiful voice - thanks so much for posting

  • Yeah good job ass, if you can't tell that's Liv Tyler singing, you're either deaf or retarded. She's got a beautiful voice too, and the lyrics here are so pretty. So take your dimwitted thoughts somewhere else.

  • It Is liv if you watch the special extended version dvds in the special features she says that they were unable to put the scene where she singing in the movie.

  • This is not Liv singing,I can hear that. But its not Enya either. But its not Liv,thats for sure.

  • this is liv, i garantee that

  • Yeah, on the Special features of ROTK Extended Liv talks about singing this song, how excited she was. So yeah, it is

  • i luv this song :D

  • socoolsocoolsocoolsocoolsocool!!!!

  • AEROSMITH RULES

  • arwens song ( this) is sung by liv!! enya has another voice....ou can hear the difference very good! and this song you can hear also in the scene with the healing of eowyn!!

  • I wish it were the still the end of 2001, and 2002.

  • Yeah those where very exciting times.

  • nevermind, I just realized you put the Liv song, but called it Arwen's, which is the one by Enya! I didn't listen before I first commented, my mistake!

  • It's my understanding, the only song Liv Tyler did for LOTR was the song that plays in the extended version - when Aragorn is taking care of Eowyn in the House of Healing. Arwen's song is performed by Enya, just like May it Be is by her.

  • Actually, that song is Aragorn and Arwen's song, their theme. Not JUST Arwen.

  • This song calls "Arwen's Song"

You can find this on Limewire.

  • Beautiful!I love this song

  • so beautiful ? where can we get this song?

  • i love it

  • Oh, I heart this song so much...

  • it's so emotional... great...

  • YUP it did make it in2 the extended rotk dvd!!

  • Oohh thanks for this!! I forgot all about this!! In fact... I can't remember if it did make it into the extended RotK or not? Anyone?

  • i think Liv's got the most soft, calming, sensual, soothing voice in the world.. i always love to hear her speaking in movies and i adore this song too.. she could be a ruling singer!!!

  • This is a lovely emotional video!

  • its called the houses of healing. it was set in the rotk extended edition with eowyn

  • wow!! is this really liv who is singing? it's wonderful!!^^

  • What is this song called???

  • oh its sooo beautiful, shes got such a beautiful voice, amazing!!

  • i luv this song n the movie too! liv is a really good singer!
