loved HGWT as a kid. got a gun set for xmas once. wish i still had that set now.i notice now that Paladin called everybody "boy". at least he didn't discriminate. still was a great western.

@carolcoh How about Sam Elliot since were going on the basis of deep voices. I can deliberately lower my voice too. It's part of an actors tools. Some people are stuck with low voices; they have no versatility. Too many cigarettes!

Note to Richard Boone -Paladin fans: Netflix is now streaming episodes from Seasons 4, 5 and 6 including the much sought after Genesis episode which is the origin story of Paladin. It's great! Fascinating! Wooohooo! Boone plays the dual role of aging gunfighter and pre-Paladin mercenary. What a treat!

to Bidil6: the Episode you are talking about is called "The Protege"--and the actor who played opposite him and hired him to protect him from crimnal elements in town--was Peter Breck--(later of Big Valley)--and Paladin later has to kill him because this young man has become a killer and killed too many people--paladin had regrets about him--he had considered the young man a friend.....

Does anyone have recall of the name of the episode involving Paladin being hired by a young man that wants to become a quick fast gun to protect himself from criminal elements in town? Paladin teaches this man how to draw fast and hit his target. Then the man thinks he can out gun Paladin.

awesome character. He stood for fairness and justice. We would do well to see some of that on tv today.

I found the series on dvd at netflix and it beats the daylights out of anything on the tube today.

This was my favorite show as a kid. Haven't seen an episode in at least 45 years.

My memory of the show makes me think much of it was done tongue in cheek, but at the time I took it seriously.

I particularily recall a comic piece wherein Palidin was hired to deliver a large glass window to a frontier town.

Boone was perfect for this role and I always cringed when he played villians later in his career.

to Centaursdream: I totally agree with you--i have heard recently that there is a possibility that enimem will not be playing this part-i don't think the movie should be made--but if it is--maybe an unknown who might look similar to boone--and have some talent--but otherwise--don't make the film--leave it alone--after all--there is the series to watch--and eminem is too fat too slow and too stupid looking

this is indeed an EXCELLENT show but unfortunately it would be too "cerebral" for today's audience. But what i want to know is : where can i get some of what the people who honestly think Eminem could play this part were smoking.

They MUST be kidding with Eminem. First, he's 5'7" tall.Boone was 6'2" tall, had a narrow waist, and looked intelligent and menacing. He was an intellect, graduated from West Point, and was a genius linguist. He had a deep voice, and was amazingly articulate.

Please, cast someone more appropriate.

Richard Boone was born to play the part of Paladin.

BTW, have you heard that there's a Paladin movie planned and EMINEM is to be in the staring role?

Have read that Paramont Pictures is behind the making of it, so it should be a success.
