  • 1:21 that little woman is so creepy ^^

  • Is a great movie. That makes the movie great is the cycle way the scenes close. I've seen a lot of dramas and thrillers. If i was to judge this movie my verdict is very very good directing. Too bad Tarantino doesn't done the direction.

  • Is all about Jealousy. That's all.

  • Great movie,hot sex scenes

  • Great movie!

  • the best thing about this movie is Ludivine Sagnier. She is the sexiest chick of all time.

  • @Hairylegs25 nah, charlotte rampling has that covered

  • so cool!! i totally love the ending!! =D

  • I love this movie more than any François Ozon's works.

  • i didn´t understand this movie^^

  • Absolutely love this movie!! The ending is great! The first time I watched it.. I was like wow... Does anyone know if this director has any other movies that are along the same line? I love psychological thrillers!!!

  • can you explain the ending to me because i still dont understand

  • Sarah never met the real "Julie" who is actually "Julia". This happens at the end when we see "Julia" come into the office and she nor Sarah recognize each other. Thus the entire story from the time Sarah encounters the sexy blond we think is "Julie" never existed. Sarah made her and the murder events up. What we were watching a good portion of the movie is Sarah's imagination. The "two" Julies at the end show actual reality and fiction and Sarah acknowleging them for their inspiration.

  • Well said...Julie all but said the "whole movie" when she said, "You're just a frustrated English woman who writes about things but never does them."

Julie was just a figment of Sarah's imagination.

  • @vegemitebaby82 arrrgghhhh thats not the twist is it?

  • YES...I highly, highly recommend, "Under The Sand" by the same director, also starring Charlotte Rampling. The ending is AMAZING, and will leave you thinking, but unsettled....

  • actually, the end is explained as that Sarah, due to writer's block had to make a visual representation of her younger self which is "Julie". the real daughter of her publisher is "Julia" who does not know Sarah at all. Sarah made "Julie" because she needs an inspiration for her novel entiltled "Swimming Pool".

  • yeah same here saranchhantyal please some1 explain me what really happen at the end )) what was Sarah doing in this house again ? and the girl with the ugly blond that smiles wtf ??????? pm or post here thanks ;p

  • This movie was awful. I love movies that make you think but sometimes it can all be too abstract to be enjoyed..

  • any nude tits anything

  • ludivine sagnier pretty much stays naked through the whole thing.

  • That blonder girl plays tinker bell in peter pan

  • Pitaj uciteljicu

  • najjaci film

  • Sta je najvise ostavilo utisak na tebe?

  • That's why you watched it several times but still don't understand.

  • "french movie is stupid"?

and what else i wonder. lol

  • And French girls are "dangerous ".

  • French Girls are Beautiful.

  • i LOVE this moive... but the thing is.. i really could not understand what REALLY happened at the end.... i replayed and replayed watched it again and again .. but my brains are not really catching what the movie wants to tell us.. i mean... what is the real story.. please... someone explain it to me... why Julie walks into the office like she doesn't even know Sarah.. and why the Julie is not real Julie ???

  • MAY CONTAIN SPOILER

from what I can remember is that Julie is the fantasy she writes about when she gets inspired in france... that is why the actual julie does not recognise her

  • Sarah needed inspiration for her new novel and thus the events we saw, her meeting Julie, the murder.. were all in sarah's head. Since sarah never meet Julie she envisioned her character which is why at the end neither recognize the other and Julies name is in fact Julia. The movie is trying to show us our love of fiction or storys rather the actual truth but how we bought into the imagination. Also, it is Sarah acknowlegeing the two girls that were her inspriration.

  • I've seen this movie hundred times (my mom bought me from france) and guess what? I LOVE IT!

Although,it was directed by a french guy,90 % of the film used english dialogue. (Despite it took place in south france)

Charlotte Rampling and sexy vixen ludvinie sagdinire (sorry..if it mispelled!) were magnificent (plus both of their boobs are showed off all along the film..haha)

Well, basically,it was an amazing thriller! oozing the atmosphere of mystery & eroticism

    Francois Ozon TWO THUMBS-UP!

  • What is the name of the song in the scene when they are all dancing and getting high????

  • i hardly can remember? wasn't it a song that usually played in nightclub? i really have no idea..

  • Charlotte Rampling is the best

  • old movie horror/suspence seems more intense and even more terrifying- its chilling, i dont think i can handle watching this movie.

  • i've seen the film twice and i thought it was so good even though there isnt that much of a plot you r kind of realy wanting to see what hapens next-i strongly recomend it

  • This movie is actually much better than the trailer. The visuals are astounding!

  • can somebody put it on here i wanna whach it

  • Superbe

  • POOL'S CLOSED!

  • I think the hole story is the book that Sarah writes, the daughter never was there.

    Charlotte is a gorgeous actress.

  • never saw this movie, but i like trailer. i would like to see it.

  • I thought she had made up the fictional Julie based on her own frustrations, and her longing to be as free as Julie appeared to be at first, because at the end she sees the real Juile and isnt surprised or shocked...

  • maybe im wrong, but for me... She made up the crime and the hole history in order to write her book, isn't?

  • that was my first impression of the film and i still believe it. Although according to a review i read she didnt made up the story. Julie pretended to be John's real daughter...but i still believe he first scenario!! :)

  • tite movie. titties for days!!!!

  • what the fuck? Julie is just a fictional character? Is that it?

  • Amazing film. Charlotte is so fantastic in it and it truly is one of the finest pieces of work ever crafted. There are so many layers and nuances to it, it's easy to miss certain things the first time through. Repeated viewings are not only somewhat required, but urged just for how brilliant the film itself is. It moves and sounds unlike any other in existence. The trailer is hella slick, too.

  • I love Ozon, but somehow, I didn't enjoy this movie much (even if I love this type of films usually...). I think I missed a lot of things from it... If you have time, and also if you feel like it, can you roughly explain me the whole symbolical meaning of it? Somekind of Oedipian thing I guess... Sagnier's and Rampling's actings were amazing (even if I hate Rampling's "human" personnality when she's not acting!^^)

  • Every person sees the film differently, so I'll try my best to explain the movie as I saw it. By the end of the film, it's revealed to us that Julie, or at least the Julie that Sarah was interacting with, was not even real. This is amplified by John's real daughter passing Sarah as she leaves his office and not even recognizing her. Clues about her real nature are dropped throughout the film, which I'll admit are hard to catch on first viewing.

  • Julie and Sarah also represent two conflicting personalities, perhaps of Sarah herself if you wanna go really deep. While Sarah represents the restricted, restrained woman(as demonstrated in the party scene with Franck), Julie represents the youthful, almost anarchy driven side. There's also a voyeurism/lesbian angle during the moments where Sarah watches and seems to study Julie. In all, there is so much more to the movie than what I've written.

  • I would advise you to watch the film again with what I've written in mind and try to see beyond the surface of what it offers. I hope that's helpful.

  • Thank you VERY MUCH.

This helped me a lot. I understood a bit of the voyeurism/lesbian angle of it, and the two women are indeed very very different :)

I liked Julie's character a lot, and the sort of psychological torture that Sarah went through when she had to live with her : to me, she was very attracted by her lifestyle, and by her personnality. I liked the fact that this takes place near the Marquis de Sade's castle, that was deeply symbolical. Are you a fan of Ozon?

  • "To me, she was very attracted by her lifestyle, and by her personnality."

I think that is one of the most important aspects. Sarah is drawn to Julie and the free spirited nature of her lifestyle, yet still keeps herself very restrained. She even helps Julie cover up Franck's murder, which I think speaks volumes.

Also, I think there's something to be said about the male viewer and their experiences with the two.

  • It all depends on the guy, but for me, I'd probably want to hang out with Julie and have a blast just being with her and how open and free she is. But in the long run, I probably want to live with Sarah and feel a sense of comfort when going home.

As for being a fan of Ozon, this is actually the only film of his I've ever seen. I don't watch a lot of foreign films unless they really catch my eye like Swimming Pool did. But I have been wanting to check out his other work since seeing it.

  • Classic film. Ludivine is incredible.
