I feel obliged to revise the comment that I left here a couple years ago, now that i've (hopefully) become slightly less of an intolerant douche: while your video doesn't necessarily match up with the emotion I get from the song, I commend you for expressing your own interpretation and I apologize if my old comment hurt your feelings in any way. good day to you and long live Arcade Fire.
Good video but I didn't see it match up with this particular song but I got the meaning this song is one of those songs that makes you think but great video great editing nevertheless
I really liked this video, I think it's great that you put a lot of effort into making a statement and a point that is real and significant, I think more people should do that. and the fact that you used an amazing song really brings it home. You should keep it up, I could imagine some really great things coming from you and your crew. :)
i like it for a beginning start, but it still seems rough and doesn't match what the singer is saying. The backseat is her position in the family.. but Alice died, her mother... and now she has to take the wheel.
i can appreciate the attempt, and if it weren't for the fact that the song had such a deeper meaning, i'd say it was a good video. but given that the song is about regine (the singer's) mother dying, you're just totally undermining the severity and the deeper meaning of the song and shitting all over the fact that this is an elegy to her lost mother. given that, this video just makes me angry.
I don't mean to be rude, but this completely misses the point of the song. The acting was pretty horrible, and during the two, 'Alice died...' something happy was going on. Also, the older girl looked NOTHING like the younger girl, and the mirror part was kind of ridiculous. I don't get up and be angry and think, 'Oh, I can just take off my shirt it and I'll be all better.' It was a nice attempt though, and I doubt that I could do better, but this overall was quite bad.
the video really doesn't fit the song the song isn't about growing up its about watching someone you love die and relizing your not living your life it was made by reigine when her mother alice died
Yes! I always thought it does! I love Bjork and I love Arcade fire. This song is a masterpiece, it will haunt me forever. This is not the only song to be a masterpiece, but it is for sure. and about that video, i found it ridiculous.
omg after i heard this song for the very first time i seriously thought it was bjork. and then after i learned it was arcade fire i was shocked because
i really didn't like the video, it's the complete opposite of what the song is all about. it has nothing to do with whatever the hell your video is trying to do. plus the acting is really really bad. you'd think it would be, i mean no one had to say any lines but that part where she takes off her shirt and tries to break loose that is a sad sad acting job lol
The video was really crap considering how amazing this song is. Sorry for being harsh but more thought should have been put into it. It just doesn't represent the meaning of the song.
I commend you for the effort, it really is pretty good and I can appreciate your insight into this song, but... overall I thought it was kind of a shallow interpretation of the song. I mean, it's about the death of Régine's mother and the difficulty of her life thereafter and I think to an extent you trivialized the real meaning behind the song by making a video about teenage girl angst.
i don't think thats what the song is about...i liked the part with the mirror but the acting was pretty poor, i mean yeah i know their not professionals but they could be less awkward when breaking loose of their "sterotypes" as you called them and start dancing

Thanks for the nice comment :) It seems ever so rare in this online realm of anonymity.
I made this video back in high school, just me, my camera, some friends and neighbors.
Cheers!

It was a good effort. I like how you found a different meaning of the song and worked with it. Very creative and original.

1.) Just because a song contains a female voice doesn't mean it's about a girls adolescent hormones.
2.) There's a reason this is on you tube. You aren't really artistic and are trying to use internet trends to convince yourself otherwise.
3.) OMG! I'm totally a little girl at heart!
