I really liked this video, I think it's great that you put a lot of effort into making a statement and a point that is real and significant, I think more people should do that. and the fact that you used an amazing song really brings it home. i can appreciate the attempt, and if it weren't for the fact that the song had such a deeper meaning, i'd say it was a good video. but given that the song is about regine (the singer's) mother dying, you're just totally undermining the severity and the deeper meaning of the song and shitting all over the fact that this is an elegy to her lost mother. given that, this video just makes me angry.

I don't mean to be rude, but this completely misses the point of the song. The acting was pretty horrible, and during the two, 'Alice died...' something happy was going on. Also, the older girl looked NOTHING like the younger girl, and the mirror part was kind of ridiculous. I don't get up and be angry and think, 'Oh, I can just take off my shirt it and I'll be all better.' It was a nice attempt though, and I doubt that I could do better, but this overall was quite bad.

omg after i heard this song for the very first time i seriously thought it was bjork. and then after i learned it was arcade fire i was shocked because

1. no one can sing like bjork.

i really didn't like the video, it's the complete opposite of what the song is all about. it has nothing to do with whatever the hell your video is trying to do. plus the acting is really really bad. you'd think it would be, i mean no one had to say any lines but that part where she takes off her shirt and tries to break loose that is a sad sad acting job lol

I commend you for the effort, it really is pretty good and I can appreciate your insight into this song, but... overall I thought it was kind of a shallow interpretation of the song. I mean, it's about the death of Régine's mother and the difficulty of her life thereafter and I think to an extent you trivialized the real meaning behind the song by making a video about teenage girl angst.
