@CaptainAmerica322 Here's something you might not know about. Jr. found out that there was going to be a meeting of VC leadership in a big hotel in Saigon. He immediatley set a plan to blow the hell out of the hotel. The army brass found out about it and started screaming about collateral damage, etc., Jr.'s response, just let me blow up the floor of the hotel they're meeting on. Of course, his request was denied. The army had become DC, DC had become the army. You have seen the results.

by defeating it in the assualt on Baghdad, you forget that Saddam was harboring terriost so it was good we went in their. If you are taliking about Patton he was always up at the front. There was no doubt that we would crush the Iraqi Army. Post war the Iraqi Army was still intact. Instead of use them for police and public order Bremmer disbanded them. This is widely seen as a major mistake. Patton used intact german forces and even nazi party memebers to get the goverment services functioning again.

I don't believe that Sadaam was able to carry out genocide against the Shiites and the Kurds after the no-fly zones were put in place - so why the sudden rush to invade?....it certainly wasn't out of concern for the Iraqis.
